I need help please!! I have a friend with a beautiful little yorkie named Abby Jae. She is one of the sweetest girls she's just a bit of a handful to her mommy and her mommy now has a 1 year old daughter. She is a female, spayed, has shots, was born July 1, 2008 so she's three years old. No papers and my friend would like $500.00 for her. I know this isn't really a rescue but more or less a for sale, but it is honestly breaking my heart that this little girl is needing a new home and I just want to help find her the best home I can. If I could take her I would but I just can't do three dogs with a new baby and I can't afford $500 for her either. I don't know if my friend will budge on wanting money for her but I'm scared since it's MO someone will take her that's not got good intentions for her. Please HELP me know what to do and how to help get this girl a good home :( |
Could you post some pictures of her here? |
i can when I get home. she's got pics up on facebook. she's super cute and i love her. i'd take her in a new york minute if she didn't want money and i didn't have two nutty ones already. |

Thank God she is spayed. One thing I will advise you is to make sure vet checks are done on anyone interested in her. If a person cannot show that they have taken care of their pups in the past, then they are not going to care for her either. I hate these stories..heartbreaking when the owners give them up...even more so when they want to make money on them. :( |
Rachel, I might have an idea. I sent you a PM. :) |
Maybe she will come down in the price if no one wants to pay that much for a mature dog. It's so sad. So many people are buying these beautiful little dogs and finding they can't keep them. She must have paid a lot for the dog and want to try to recoup her money. I hope she thinks of what is best for the little one when picking a new owner. |
we're doing everything we can to make this a good FOREVER home. and as much as i personally wouldn't ask a penny if it were me, i do understand now that the dog is biting some of her daycare kids and she's going through a very tough time financially and this is her way of trying to bring in a little money for her little baby girl and for her family and also to find a good home for abby. |

But...I did send you a pm with a thought. :) |

When you need money you take on an extra job, or sell luxuries in your life like computers or cameras, you turn off cable and the internet- you don't sell living beings. If the dog is truly biting children- it needs to be placed with a reputable rescue who can assess the behavior and find a good, permanent home for the dog- otherwise the poor thing is destined to be bounced around. |
totally agree. i am frustrated to say the least. new hair extensions, new family portraits, ext ext...but needs money from the dog? not ok! i'm just in that rock and a hard place moment where i care about my friend and her family. but i think it's crazy to expect someone to pay $500 for a rehome you need to get "rid" of. :( really sucks!! |
if Sadie were honestly biting I'd do all I could to get some training help. If I knew that I had done EVERYTHING to fix it and still couldn't then and only then would I consider rehoming her and I wouldn't ask a penny to find her a perfect home. I tell Sadie all the time that she had better just be a good sister or else she would literally break my heart in pieces. I'm sure we can learn to adjust and work with her and she'll eventually LOVE her new brother and not bite him. i'll be on everyday for more advice to help me train her more and more to be a good sister. |
We charge that for an adoption fee for some pups; but the pups are fully vetted and evaluated. Dental..and everything else that is needed. If your friend has not fully vetted her pup, she is going to play hell getting that kind of money. |
i know it. i told her she has to understand that people can go to a crap breeder and buy a brand new baby puppy yorkie with full AKC papers for under $200 not that i would ever ever suggest it, but it's out there. so $500 bucks for a three year old rehome is asking way too much. |
She simply will not get it. |
nope i think it's obvious how she views things. i still want the dog to find a permanent home. you know i didn't even pay that for Bentley. he was $350.00 from a rescue fully vetted and rearing to go. Sadie my mess was from a crap breeder in Joplin, MO and she wasn't even $500 she was $400. she was 7 weeks old brand spankin new and i'm paying for her little self more now (that's another story) anyways i'm sure the dog didn't cost much more than the asking price anyways. just makes me sick that i can't seem to get anything through to her and it's obvious now the dog has to be rehomed. |
