I think the best you can do is continue to let her know that there are rescues willing to take her dog in- hopefully, if she never gets the money she is asking, she will eventually give in to that. I know it is frustrating when friends or family don't value animals the same way you do. |
This is very sad. I wish I had some ideas for you Rachel. Your friend doesn't sound like someone I'd respect or like very much. I only hope little Abby finds a nice home with unconditional love. |

It's a shame she wants anything. I am hoping that the people I know of might work out...I just don't see telling them to spend 500 and then vet the pup. That is out of line. |
Once she realizes she not getting many offers, perhaps she will be open to some new ideas. No way she's going to get close to what she's asking. Anyway, if she's getting hair extensions and family portraits done, what will a measly $500 cover? I don't know about in MO, but here in CA hair ext cost about $300. Hell, my electricity bill for the shop last month was near $400. What about next month when the money's gone. What else can she get rid of for some quick cash? Rachel, I know this is your friend, but people like this make me so upset. Bf and I have been through a lot. We couldn't afford to pay our mortgage, so we started selling stuff, our furniture, our fridge, our car, canceled the tv, alarm, cell phones, internet, etc and we still lost our house. The only thing we couldn't get rid of was our lease at the old shop (which thank god we are out of now), we had no choice but to live at the shop. To a certain degree, we were homeless. Through it all, Uni still got her good food and everything, I did not for one second think of selling her, and at that point she was still not spayed, I'm sure I could have gotten a pretty penny for her, plus she's trained! I'm sorry for the long post, but this type of thing just upsets me so much. I've been there, I would never never in a million years think of selling Uni. Having Uni with us is what got us through it all. A loving companion to lift up your spirits when you are at your lowest point in your life. I would never give her up. btw, all the stuff we sold, that money hardly lasted us anyway. Please try and talk with her some more. Surrendering her to a rescue is the best way she will have a chance at a real forever home. |

i defin think kids come first, but sacrifices have to be made for ourselves before we start to put our family pets up for sale. if someone was so down and out their child was starving or themselves maybe just maybe i'd give up the dogs, but i'd still not feel right about asking money on either of them. |
This dog has been hanging out with daycare kids? No wonder it is having problems. It's just not a good idea to have small dogs around little kids. I hope she realizes her situation and gives the dog to a rescue. |
