Special needs pup...YHR needs help
 
We have a 9 week old yorkie boy that could use the generosity of YT members. This boy was surrendered to my vet friend, he has special needs, born with one eye not fully formed and the other eye has premature cataracts. YHR will take care of his medical needs, hopefully the cataract can be removed and his vision can be restored, at least partially.

We have a foster home available in North Carolina, but this boy is near Tulsa, OK and we need help getting him to his foster home. Does anyone have any ideas or could you help get him there? Ideally we would like to fly him to NC, so frequent flyer miles could be donated, and a courier would also be a great help.

Thank you all for your support and suggestions. I did make contact with the Pilots N Paws organization and am in hopes something will come of that. The Operation Roger group sounds wonderful too and I will also make contact with them. It's at times like these I wish that I could blink my eyes or twitch my nose to make things magically happen, but I know it usually takes hard work and lots of organizing to get a transport across country.

I would really like to try and save this boy as he most likely could lead a very happy life. I know the vet will hold him if we can find a way to his new home, the other option (PTS) is so not necessary for this boy.

Thanks for posting about this little guy. Glad he is being taken care of and keeping fingers and paws crossed that he gets transport to North Carolina with one of these organizations. Wish I could be of more help, but will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

What about some members getting together and trying to meet up to get him there. I am in Arkansas. Tulsa is a few hours away. Maybe a few of us could work to get him to North Carolina. Any ideas? I will help if I can.

If you're serious, I may just take you up on that offer! I could get him to the Ft. Smith area, if you could take him from there....how far across Ark would you be willing to take him? If it's possible for you to get him to TN, then we may just need one or two others to make the TN leg of the trip.

I am serious. I just need to see if one of my friends would be willing to travel with me. I could ask tomorrow. She has a yorkie too. I think she would be willing. When does he need to be picked up? We teach so it would have to be on the weekend or in a few weeks after school lets out. Just let me know and I will see what we can do!!!

Thank you!!! I just have to let the vet know something in the morning. I can get him and keep him til we could meet. That may be as soon as this weekend, if we can get one or two members to meet with you and go from there. The new owner can drive to the Tenn. state line I'm sure.

Anybody from Tennessee willing to help a special needs yorkie boy find his way to his new home?

I can ask her at 8:00 am about riding with me. I can let you know then for sure. Don't see it as a problem.

Thanks again! I don't see the transport happening this weekend though. Possibly by next weekend we can have another member or two willing to help out.

I'll be picking up this pup later today and will post pictures so you all can see just who is being rescued. I'll be thinking of names for him too and would love to hear some suggestions.

Yes Tammie...thank you so very much for your sweet offer! I'm sure there will be another time we could take you up on the offer, if you're willing:)

Also, wanted to let others know the Pilots and Paws group is so wonderful! I had an offer from a pilot but she was going in a different direction then we need to go. I thought it was so nice to get such a quick response and wanted to make others here aware of just how great a group they are.

I have the little boy now, am hoping to get him named soon and will post his pictures later.♥

He's doing fine so far. Other than the eye issues is healthy in his appearance. He weighs a little more than 2lbs and is as cute as can be. He doesn't even seem too terribly afraid of his new surroundings.

I'm in north Alabama but I'm willing to head north and drive a Tennessee leg. Next weekend would be best but I'll make it work.

I am just now seeing this thread. I live in TN. I would be willing to help any way I can. I can be NC in20 minutes from my house and would be willing to drive any where u needed me too.
