Randi said her mom was 1/2 Yorkie and 1/2 Chihuahua and her dad was a Silkie. I don't see much Chi in her except maybe the eyes. She is a cute little thing!

From Roriee's foster mom:

05/18/10 - Roriee is still doing really well! I attempted to see if she has any sight and unfortunately she didn't close either eye unless I touched the hair around her eye. I used my finger one time and a paper towel the next to see if that made a difference, and it didn't. Maybe her other senses, smell and hearing, are just so good that it helps her get around and makes it seem like she has some site left, I am not sure. But, if she is truly completely blind, it has not hindered her at all! She still gets around very well! She is an amazing little girl!

I did suggest that she try a flashlight as someone had suggested.

The other senses will take over to a point. Amazing how we can move at night with limited sight, but sound, touch and smell are so promounced. After 6 months, I could adjust artillery fire from the flash-Bang, and a count in seconds. from the flash to the bang reaching me. I would not feel comfortable doing that today.

Glad to hear the little dog is adapting, and feeling better. It's a wonderful story and the end has not yet been written

Gosh, Roiree looks much better in that picture, doesn't she?

Dogs adjust very well to loss of vision since their sense of smell is so good.

She did try the flashlight, but Roriee did not pay any attention to it at all....

Here is what she said:


OK, I tried that and she didn't even pay attention to the light. She just came directly towards me and if she lost me she would stand there and look back and forth. So, she didn't follow the light either. :-(

Sweet baby Roriee looks so much better :)!! Very, very sad about her eyesight, but I'm just so relieved that she is no longer screaming in pain. And may I say, WONDERFUL JOB foster mom!!!!!! Keep up the good work.

Does she walk on her tip-toes? Usually, if they're blind, they will walk on their tippy-toes...

No, she does not. I have two blind pups in my home and they walk on the pads of their feet.
One is a foster and one is my own.
They have adjusted fairly well.

It is wonderful to hear that Roriee is continuing to do so well. She is just adorable. Keep those update coming. Love the pictures and all of the positive posts for Roriee and her foster family. :)

I have never seen that before. I suppose it could happen, but I have not seen it. I would honestly wonder if that was not something neurological.
