after looking at the CL ad and seeing the larger picture...i think this is a breeder or broker more like it...if you notice an identical looking puppy in the back... |

I know what I am about to say can be controversial and there are many opinions on YT. BUT, if this dog is from a puppy mill, to me it is even more a reason to "rescue" him. Many of these type dogs end up in rescues, when they are busted. I would just feel this situation out and if possible ask to speak to the dogs vet to verify health records. I got my Baxter off of Craigslist who claimed he was product of an "oops litter". Some people will never change & will never understand how important it is to spay and neuter. It is just the way our world is. At anyrate, I can't imagine our lives without him. He was our first Yorkie and I never really understood the importance of a reputable breeder until I got on YT. However, I still think there are good dogs on CL that just need a chance for a happy home. In my opinion they are one step away from a shelter & why not save them before they get there. Good luck Ryan! When you talk to them, you will know. Go with your gut. |
he's adorable. I wonder why they are rehoming him |
Still waiting for an email back! I will keep everyone posted |

I never received an email back...oh well the search continues :) |
I am guessing this Biewer was just to big either for a pet or as a breeding dog. If you go on Puppies for Sale, Dogs for Sale and Dog Breeders you will see many that are above the standard listed. I might add there are very few dogs on this website I would buy...Sadly many people are just pumping them out without any consideration to their health. |
I would have to agree with you...too many people just breeding for the $$ and not the health of the dog |

People who have the view that you do either have never been involved in rescue or have turned their heads on the less fortunate while chasing down the pretty puppies. :( I can almost "get" lay people doing it, but rescues really bother me. People who expouse the virtues of this also need to go spend a few days in the shelters and SEE for themselves how many pups are euthanized while the shelter workers are begging for people to help.....Think about being in that position and knowing that people are buying dogs with the excuse that they might end up in a shelter anyway. The common thought is that they will end up in a shelter anyway....actually that is NOT always true. Why would a breeder put one in a shelter when someone is willing to pad his/her pockets? |

I never did see the ad, but to the OP: IF the ad was asking for $1,000 for that puppy it does not belong in this forum. This is a rescue forum, not a place for people to help people sell puppies. I know that was not your intention, but if they were asking for $1,000, it was theirs. Rescue is not about helping people sell dogs. |

I was searching craigslist like most people do....this lil one caught my eye and there was not price listed for the rehoming fee..so I sent an email inquiring about him...I didn't notice the other pup in the picture until a fellow YT brought it to my attention... if the person was to respond to my email and ask for a $1000 I would tell them they were crazy to ask for that much for a rehoming fee and would have assumed they were a breeder... |
I totally understand. However, I tried for months to find a Yorkie through rescue. AND when I found them, I never got an email back!!! I tried 4 times! I think sometimes rescues make it impossible for a person to get a dog. Atleast that was MY experience. I understand there is a process you have to go through, but my goodness. I dont think I enabled a byb because I got Baxter off CL. I believe I gave a puppy a good home. :) Some people will never change, there will always be irresponsible people breeding their dogs. None of us are going to stop stupidity. I would never spend a 1000 dollars on a dog off craigslist. I got Baxter for only paying the owner back for his vet bills. I think people just need to use their brain. That is why I believe in case by case. This dog might have been from a puppy mill, or he might have been from someone that simply couldnt take care of him anymore. You see all kinds on CL. The important thing is to find out & then make the decision. Obviously a person "selling" a dog on CL is no good. |

Where did the 1000 figure come from anyway? |

I did not say that you are a breeder. I am sorry I misunderstood and thought it was listed on CL for $1,000. |
