I honestly do not know. Maybe someone with YTNR could explain it?? There are some members on YT. I would feel better if I knew. I also had sent an email, but have not heard back yet. |

Why don't they stop? Heaven only knows. Some for money.....just pure greed. Other people just want their children to see the miracle of birth. That one always fries my brain. |

really. But it isnt the kids with the problem - it's the adults thinking nothing of it The upside would be EDUCATE KIDS to talk sense into the parents to adopt rather than throw 2 dogs together in hopes of profit |

LadyJane.... I worked with YTNR and another rescue and most here in Ca are so full and have no foster homes available so they do watch in hopes that they will get adopted if not they usually have a hold on them and will pick them up if they become redlisted. I am not sure that this is still the case but I know they are doing the best they can right now. Things are really bad here in Ca with people losing their homes. So many animals have been left behind or placed in shelters. It is so sad.:( |

Oh, trust me I know the feeling about being overwhelmed....there are about as many homeless yorkies in TX as there are in CA. I am happy to hear what that meant....thanks so much for letting me know! I do know that they take in a LOT in CA! :) |

Riverside yorkie is he still there? I just joined YTNR here in the Bay Area literally today to be a foster home. I just sent an e-mail to our director to see if we can get him. Does anyone have any update??? |

I suggest you call the shelter! No one has posted anything new on him. Good luck and thank you for fostering! :) |
Rizzo's mom, have you been able to contact them about this sweetheart? Let us know the outcome! |
Riverside Sweatheart has been rescued I checked with the shelter this morning and RooRoo was adopted by a rescue organization (don't know which one). I think that part of the confusion on this dog came in because there were actually 2 threads started on the same dog. One here and one in the Regional area for California. The regional posting from YT did not give a name or ID # so it was confusing. In the future I am here in the Bay Area (Silicon Valley) and just signed up as a YTNR volunteer to foster and rescue in this area. Since many of you as myself are always on the look out to help these little darlings you can always contact me directly in addition to a posting to get a head start on contacting the shelters. I hope that RooRoo will get a great home. Thanks.......Loree Rizzo's mom forever |

Yes, thank you! I am so glad this one is safe. |
I for one know the names of each of the puppies I bred and keep in touch with the owners. I have an agreement to buy them back for any reason they are no longer wanted. These are my kids and would never end up in a shelter. I have actually bought back two of my fur kids and placed them in new homes. Our little Brody and Emma were returns. They are both in happy homes now. I wish all breeder would do the same. I also plan on stopping my breeding for now and waiting until things inprove even though I have potential buyers. I am sending them elsewhere to get Yorkies. I would love to take in all the little homeless ones out there. It truely is so sad. I have too many now to take in more but if i could......:( |

I know apples have nothing to do with oranges but I agree with what you wrote. When I was a sophmomore in high school I was hanging out with hippies, hec I was I but never smoked or did anything illegal. My dad was a Doctor and apparantly scared for me. He took me to the intensive care unit to show me what happpend to kids on LSD who thought they could fly. From that day on I was a total jock and rode my horses and junior showmanship with my dogs. |
2 Attachment(s) I didn't see this thread till now... Very often the animal shelters have the names & contacts of breed specific rescue groups on file when these dogs turn up. The process is that the dogs are available to the general public for adoption first. If they are not adopted, then any holds placed on the dogs by whichever rescue group will have the next opportunity to receive the dog for placement in whichever foster home they have available. I have even seen where one rescue group will contact another rescue group to make sure these dogs get placed somewhere when they are currently at max capacity. As mentioned above...YTNR is in desperate need of foster homes in the Southern CA area! If you are interested in helping, please visit Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue Adoptions and Shop and please sign up! If you want to see who I am currently fostering, go to the website above and click on "Available Rescues" and scroll down to "SoCal" till you see my cutie-pie, Miss Olivia! We are still taking applications for the right forever family for her...maybe it's you?;) |
