I would have to agree 100% with both Ladyjane and Manilos Mom. Being that LadyJane is part of Yorkie Haven Rescue and has rehomed MANY yorkies very successfully to wonderful homes there should be NO QUESTION about the advice that she has given to the OPer about placing this or any other puppy. If I didn't already have 3 of my own and a foster I would offer to take him as an owner surrender so that he does not fall into the wrong hands. One of my yorkies has some behavior issues and I would never rehome him because he is now my responsibility Cynsir~IMO there is not a good and reputable rescue out that that would be willing to let you adopt from them. Max was allowed to jump off your bed 2 times which resulted in him breaking both his legs, you decided to rehome a dog that was a "rescue" because he was a behavior issue, and you already have several dogs in your home that you are not financially capable of taking care of now. You said in your previous posts http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sic...oken-legs.html you clearly state multiple times that you did not have the money to care for Max and his broken legs. I PERSONALLY offered to help you get him into rescue but you refused and not in a very nice way either. :( I offered to drive to your home and take Max for the care he needed but my offer was refused by you. You were unwilling to do the right thing to help your dog who was injured from December 28 2008 until he passed away in May 2009. IMO and as a volunteer with rescue there is no way that any of this is responsible pet ownership. If I was unable to provide proper care for one of my dogs I would have made the decision out of love to turn him over so that he could received proper care in a timely and appropriate time frame and not suffer any further. I would also like to add that I just recently had a broken arm and it was the MOST PAINFUL thing that has ever happened to me. I too needed surgery and had a plate and 8 screws placed to stabilize my injury~this was done 4 days after my break. I can't even imagine going months without treatment because of lack of funds. If I would have had to endure that much pain any longer that I did I would probably killed myself~I am totally serious about the amount of pain I was in. If the vet was recommending pinning and an appliance to hold the bones into place there would have been no cutting on the skin involved and all would have been done on the surface of the skin. As for the ligaments that for months would not have moved due to the breaks, the physical therapy would have been extensive and VERY painful. My arm was in a cast for only 4 weeks and I am still in physical therapy 6 weeks later 3 days a week. The therapist said that it will be 12 to 18 months for me to fully regain 100% mobility. Once again this in only my opinion and everyone who will want to run me out of town on a rail go right ahead. I firmly stand behind my opinion and all of this can be read and was put into print right here on YT so there has been no twisting of words involved. *****For anyone that tries to say I am reading something into this thread all you need to do is hit search and read for yourself.************ |
megansmomma, you really put things into perspective with your own story about a broken arm. I can not imagine how painful it must have been for that poor little Max. |

There is no twisting stories. Its all in writing under Broken Legs. No one wants to attack you Cindy, we are just concerned for these dogs. |
rule i understand where some of you are coming from and agree on most points but what ever happened to this rule? Do you just use it when it suits you? no matter if you are with a rescue and do wonderful work, there is no need to be mean. i believe some of you that have been mean on this thread are some of the ones that lobbied admin for this rule. Why not take a step back and look at how this thread has turned out. POSITIVE POSTS ONLY in this forum! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note that this forum is for Yorkie Rescues and New Homes Needed, this is not for debate, belittling, or attacking members who may post threads in this section. Personal attacks and insults will not be tolerated. |
I also sent the OP a PM After reading the initial post regarding this puppy I also sent the OP a PM. I currently have one yorkie, Sophie, who weighs three pounds. I sent a message requesting the weight of the puppy available as I would not want to go much bigger than my Sophie for her safety. Vet references would be sent so that the owner would be able to check me out and know that I would have the dog spayed vet checked regularly. I am not a breeder. I am simply a stay-at-home wife starting to look for Sophie a playmate. I do live in Indiana and am about 2 1/2 hours away from the OP. |

It was my understanding of the Rescue Rules of posting in this forum was for the member trying to rehome a pup to not be attacked for giving their dog up. From what I can see and read, no one attacked or posted negatively to the OPer~ but I will go back and reread what I said. It is very concerning to me that someone who is not financially stable would want to take on yet another dog and is being congratulated and encourage to do so. Next time I will contact the person and direct them to the appropriate information in PMs and allow other members to be mislead on the boards to past history. :( It is NOT mean when the information is a FACT so I will have to disagree with you on that point of your post. I linked the information that Cindy wrote herself so I am confused as to why that would be mean? Wouldn't that be consider public information if it was posted on YT for all to read? Pretty sure that would be considered by most as such. Now if I said all of the things going through my head right now that would be mean but that is not the kind of person that I am. :( |

WOW you guys. I don't even know what to say, my eyes are crossed from reading ALL of that! lol Bottom line, I hope the baby girl gets her dream home. AND behavorial issues is no reason to rehome a dog. I have learned SOOOO much from watching Victoria Stilwell "Its me or the dog". The problem is, most people don't have the patience to get the dogs through it or they dont put forth the effort to know what they are doing. AND they will be better little fur kids if they have manners and respect. So, you really have to ask yourself if you can take it on. I get up in the middle of the night to take my dogs to go potty because I dont want them to hold it all night--even though they are in a crate. AND I am generally up between 5:30 - 6:00 to start our walks. True dedication, takes so much time. |

Many people think that the truth is mean. I saw nothing mean in your post. I believe that you wrote what you did to try to help this person SEE what they are doing. What they have posted on YT in the past does raise red flags about the quality of care they give their pups. Yes, we did lobby for positive posts. Someone attacked a person for surrendering their yorkie! They left and never returned. That was negative. Telling someone they are in over their heads is not negative. It could be positive if only people would stop patting people on the back who harm their pups. Those of us who see things that could harm a pup owe it to the pups to protect them if we can. If a person's feelings are hurt, I am sorry for that, but maybe, just maybe it will wake them up. Might be that they care so much that they cannot see the forest for the trees. I have seen SO many people get in over their heads with pups they cannot afford. Sure, they love them....but pups need more than love, food and water to thrive! |

I believe they all can learn to live with each other. People who have been to my home know I have many..and while they may have their moments, they are not killing each other. My pups are all groomed by me and also by a professional groomer. I also am at the vet almost every day on some weeks. My vet bills are astrononomical. Some of them are reimburseable since they are fosters, buy my personal pups all receive good vet care, including yearly dentals. My Cody who just passed this past Saturday cost me thousands in the few years that I had him. I am fortunate that I was able to care for him; but I gained more from him than he from me. He was my love! What I will say is this....you don't bite off more than you can chew! I have seen people do that and they harm their pups. Keeping a pup and not providing vet care is criminal imo....if you did it to a child you would be jailed. Sadly, people do it all of the time to poor defenseless little pups and it turns my stomach. |
