Lolita got her bath
 

Lolita got a bath today and did a wonderful job. I put water in the tub and put her in there. She laid down in the water. lol She didn't seem to mind but at all but it wasn't her favorite activity to participate in. I used minksheen shampoo on her. I wrapped her up and combed her topknot hair out and put a grooming band in it. I don't use a dryer though. I use a space heater and comb them dry. I hold the hair so it doesn't pull their skin and gently work on any knots that I missed prior to the bath. I don't use a pin brush since Natasha doesn't like it so I only use a comb. Anyway she was a champ through the whole process. She got a sani trim but doesn't like to have her feet messed with so I couldn't get her paw pads trimmed but I will work on trying to help her get comfortable with the process. BTW... I think her tail was docked very close to her body so she doesn't have much of a nubbin.

After she got dry we went outside for a potty break and to try for some pictures. She felt very good after her bath and was trotting around... I could really tell she felt good. I got a few pictures of her to post here for everyone. It started to sprinkle so for my cameras sake so we ended early. Look at what a beauty she is.

Jennifer, she definitely is a beauty, thank you so much for taking and posting pics of her. It is nice to see her all cleaned up and enjoying herself in the yard. You're doing such a wonderful job acclimating her to all she deserves.

She is so beautiful. I wish I could get her for my mom. I'll be moving out soon and my mom loves yorkies just as much as I do. She's going to miss my emmy when I leave. :(

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I credit Lolita for coming along so well. I just gave her the time to come out of her shell on her own and didn't rush her. The real credit goes to her. She's a good little girl and though I will be sad to see her go I know that she will be going to her forever home. It would be nice if she could stay here but that's just not possible right now. I made that stupid promise to my husband and my stupid integrity wont let me back out on him. Someone recently told me somthing that helps me deal with knowing she can't stay here and the whole process of finding her adoptive family. These are not the exact words but what I took away from it was this... it is difficult to give them up but sadly there is always another one that needs helped. :cry:

We are moving along with the application process and checking references. We have a great number of applicants at this point and I'm confident that more than one of them would be a really good fit for Lolita. Though I feel everyone would give her a good home it's necessary to keep Lolitas needs at the top of the priority list when considering placement for her. I know we all are anxious to find out where she will be going and who her mommy will be. Please know that this is a top priority for me and that I appreciate everyones patients and understanding as we move through this process in Lolita's journey to her forever home. As soon as we have an answer we will start contacting people and will post the answer here.

She weighed in at 3lbs 11oz at the vet last Friday but I know she had put on some weight since she first arrived. She has been eating Wellness puppy food to help her get back up to a healthier weight. She was a bit boney so I made the decision to put her on the girls puppy food to help her out. She has dry kibble available at all times but twice a day I mix a spoon full of canned food in with her kibble to help her even more. She is filling out and looking better every day. I can't feel her bones as much so were moving in the right direction. At some point she will need to be switched to adult food once she gets to a healthy weight.

LoLo decided today that she wanted to pester the cat a bit. The cat is very easy going and belongs to my SD so he is only here temporarily. He is outside and can go into the attached garage any time he likes (my son has allergies so the cat can't come in the house) so she doesn't see him all the time but she decided today was the day to pester him a bit. She kept running after him and barking at him so poor Zeus finally jumped up on the picnic table just to get away from her. lol

How Cute. I'm glad to hear she is doing so well.

Jen thanks so much for keeping us all updated and we know that no matter which home you ultimately choose for Lolo it will be because you went with your heart and what was best for her. I don't think anyone will be hurt or upset knowing that. After all she is the important one in all of this and as you said there are always others out there unforturnately who need us.

Marilyn what a very kind offer... thank you. There have been many wonderful people apply for Lolita's potential placement with them and we really believe we have some excellent potential homes for her. If a suitable placement for her can not be found she will stay here until one can be found... even if that means one is never found and she ends up living out the rest of her days here with us. She has adjusted very well here and I believe that to move her more than necessary will cause unnecessary stress on her. Your offer is very kind and I will keep you in mind if I run across any other babies that need help. Bless you and thank you for your work in helping these precious little ones.

I have asked for and have been receiving experienced guidance throughout this process. My extra caution is probably causing a slight delay but I feel it's a necessary step to ensure I'm doing my best for Lolita.

I wanted to assure everyone that we hope to have a final decision tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.

Jenifer thanks for the updates on Lolo and no matter what your decisions are I am sure everyone appreciates you taking time to be sure of them. I know I and others here are greatful for people like you who are able to foster these little ones and give them the chance for loving homes they deserve. It not only takes a special person but also a special and understanding family to be able to take these little ones in and get them ready for their forever homes and know that you are going to grow to love them and have to give them up in the end. A decision has been made and all applicants have been contacted. It was a tough decision to make and I want to thank everyone again for their willingness to open their hearts and homes for Lolita.

All new parents are excited to make the announcement themselves when a little one comes into their family. I'm sure they will be along to make the announcement and share their excitement.

Thank you for your kind words. It's kind of a bitter sweet moment for me in all honesty though. Selfishly sad yet happy for Lolita and her new family... it's hard to explain.

We took the camera along for a down and dirty romp in the yard. Nothing pretty about it... it was all about playing, rolling around, and running around getting dirty. The girls had a lot of fun and Sasha was there to watch over them as well. She thinks they all are her babies.

They are just adorable and they look like the are having so much fun. You are such a great person for taking care of all of this.

I am so very proud to announce that my DH and I are going to be the proud new Mama and Daddy to little Lolita. I want to again thank Jenifer for all she has done and is continuing to do for her. We are so excited to get to see her and bring her home to love. She has stolen our hearts from the moment we read her story. Thank you Jen and all those who helped save her so that we could share the rest of her life with her.:rolleyes:
