I agree, responsible breeders DO rescue, and the couple of my friends that do breed, on a limited basis and show, have told me they are always in the red.

They do it for the love of the breed. And they rescue because they feel they want to give something back to the breed. They feel a responsibility to rescue.

I agree, I think it's time that we drop this thread, because it just keeps me upset, as well.

I feel pretty stupid for wasting my Vets time, and my Chiropractors time.

Originally, I had gone on Hoobly looking for an old fashioned baby pram, because my son and his wife are planning another baby. I was up all night with a bad cold, coughing my fool head off. So, out of curiosity I began looking at Yorkies. (I was not and am not looking for a puppy, I was just looking) and I saw the ad for the injured puppy and saved it to my pictures file so I could show my Hubby when he woke in the morning.


But, good gracious, I saw only BYB'S on there!

I say, lets answer the ad for the shotgun........:mad:

You guys try and get this puppy. I know that YT members are very generous and kind hearted and will donate for this puppy medical treatment. Just think if everyone donates 20 bucks. That is very sweet of you....but, at this point, she is not answering anyone!!! There were two people in contact with her but she stopped communicating. She apparently does not want any of the help that was offered on YT. :(
I think it is best to just let this thread drop...there is nothing we can do at this point, unless someone new wants to try to contact her; but, I have a feeling she is not going to allow a YTer to take him. I have my own thoughts on WHY this is. :mad:

I tried to send her an email last night with my own email and she has not replied to me either. You guys work very hard saving lives everyday and you do need funds to help support this organization. I love these candles you are selling. Great fundraiser. My husband puts on golf tournaments for March of Dimes and raises lots of Bucks. Let me know if this might be of interest for Yorkie Haven Rescue. Guys love golf and he can raise a thousand in one day..Help Yorkie Haven Rescue save more lives!

That is so nice you support rescues! None of the rescues could continue to save pups if not for people like you!

Sometimes I see people complain about adoption fees...what they do not understand is that the adoption fees don't even come close to meeting the expenses of caring for rescue pups. Rescues all have fundraisers and heavily rely on donors, many of whom are not adopters.

I would just like to clear a few things up!
first I took this little boy in the day he arrived to my home!
and have since that day! im doing my best to help him!
second I don't consider myself a rescue-I only try to help! one of the reasons I do receive animals not just dogs is that I do not ask questions! and point the finger that is why 50 % of pets end up on the street people are just afraid that they will get in trouble! yes its wrong but if ray didn't come here just imagine where he would of ended up!

but I need to explain my side!
I did not ignore Jodi or Sheila I told them both I was dealing with horrible news!
on Friday we were told my mother-in-law has cancer (lungs & liver) they want to start chemotherapy asap. it hit me/us hard-it came out of nowhere!
she went in from not feeling good to cancer in a matter of days! as soon as I got in late Friday evening I e-mailed them both to let them know what was going on and that little ray was with my daughter and her future in-laws and also was on Rimadyl as suggested. since then I have been up north I/we just came in this morning so the kids can get back to school!

ray has a few days left on his med's and will be fully evaluated again. we can all say what we think/want but im no export and am leaving it up to the vets to decided what is the next step for him.

As for comments about rescue....this is the rescue section and people were TRYING to help.
I have a lot going on in my personal life as well, but I still must care for my pups.

how extensive do you believe his treatment will be?
well there are a few options, treatment by a chiropractor and med's to put his disk back in place or surgery to put disk back in place.
he was given cordizone and was normal as any other dog but once med's were finished he returned to the way he was before med's.

Marie, I am not going to be reading this thread any more. It is a waste of a rescuer's time.
IF you need help with poor little Ray, you can contact a rescue on their website. Almost every rescue takes in pups like him. You can find their contact information on their websites. Posting him on the classifieds is not going to get him a good placement, in my opinion.
Anyway...I suggest the following:

Yorkshire Terrier National Rescue
Yorkie Haven Rescue
There are far too many people and/or yorkies needing help for me to be wasting any more time on this. IF you REALLY want help you can PM me or contact the rescues above. Just MY suggestion.

Please do not be angry. Everyone just wants to help your pup and can help him live a happy, healthy life. We should all work together for his benefit. You know, people that rescue see such awful things and are the first ones to step up and take charge. You have to act fast or a life could be lost. When I spoke to you on the phone Thursday about Ray I asked you specifically if you had puppies right now and you told me that you did not and only breed occasionally. Why do you have this ad up if you do not have or had puppies recently? Breeders.NET

I am very sad by all of the events that have happened relating to your post. I believed you when you called me and said that he was turned over to you and you now needed help. It wasn't until I took a look at the Hoobly.com site that I became very concerned. Like I told you on the phone, I recognized your name because we had spoke quite a few years ago when I was first looking for a Yorkie puppy. I am not sure what is really going on with the puppy but I have seen his pictures and he looks very sick.

I personally have 2 theories about this puppy and neither is good. Either he is your puppy and something happened to him or he was released to your daughter from the ER vet that she works with because his original owners couldn't care for him and were considering PTS. If my second theory is correct, your daughter got in over her head and I can understand that because I have children about her age too. That should be put behind you and someone needs to step up here and just do the right thing for him. Regardless of what the entire story really is, either you or our daughter has now taken on the responsibility for him and if that mean turning him over to a rescue for care then that is what needs to be done. I do not think I have judged you but now I am questioning MY judgment for wanting to believe what was said to me.

You will love Valpo! I will be sad to move from here, but we are planning to move to S. IL, because our only son and his wife, and our twin grandsons live there, and we just miss them too much!

We had been planning to make the move next year, but our Agent called my Hubby today and said the interest rates are going to drop to 4.5% in the next few months, so it would be a good time for a Buyer to afford our home.

The very best Vets in the entire area are: Dr. Larry McAfee and Dr. Steve Violanti. They are the co-owners of McAfee Animal Hospital. I'm sure all the other Vets are very good, but these are the two that have always taken care of my girls. Dr. Larry is also my Wildlife Vet.

The only thing I can address is, yes, Marie e-mailed me at 1:32 in the morning, Saturday, and told me about her MIL, and asked if we could get Little Ray in to Dr. Larry earlier; Monday or Tuesday. I replied at 5:33 in the morning, that Dr. Larry only works a few days in the office and Thursday is his only day that he sees patients.

I also stated that I needed to know, if she could still go to an appointment on Thursday and if so, I needed to know by noon, Saturday, at the latest, in order to schedule the appointment.

I then, sent a second e-mail and assured Marie, that with all that is happening, if she didn't feel she could make the trip to Valparaiso, that I would not be upset if she wanted to turn Little Ray over to Rescue.

I lost both of my parents, 9 months apart, and I know what it is like to spend your life at the hospital, over-seeing their care, and discussing it with their doctors.

I called at 10:00 A.M. Saturday and left a voice-mail and asked if she would please let me know before noon.

Dr. Larry is in the office 3 days a week. Two days he is in surgery. He sees patients just one day a week, and his day books up FAST.

As it was, Dr. Larry wanted me to book the appointment when I spoke with him last Thursday.

With all of this said, I couldn't get an appointment now for this week Thursday, if I tried.

And this afternoon, my Hubby decided we are going out-of-town for a few days. We are leaving tomorrow late morning.

I forgot to say thank you for saying you hope I am able to adopt this little guy.

Marie was busy with a family crisis, so she did not get back to me in time to make the appointment with Dr. Larry for this Thursday.

So, I don't know what is happening with him right now.

I'm curious to know if a Chiropractor can manaipulate the disc back into place. I'm puzzled by the fact that this was an option, but also surgery is an option. :confused:

But, I will admit, I am not an expert and I would need Dr. Larry to confirm that it could safely be manipulated back into place, by a Chiropractor. My Chiropractor is willing to teach me to work on him, for free.

We are going out to the Dunes for a few days of R & R.

But I will be back at the end of the week, and see if anyone has heard anything.

Several members of a Rescue have wanted to help. Jodi was willing to drive with Marie out to my Vet.
