Nice to meet you Ozzy. I look forward to hearing (and seeing) all about you. The girls said hi as well. |
How is Ozzy doing???? |

Ozzy was neutered last week and had his dental. He only has eight teeth left now. Such a shame this poor little guy who is estimated to be 6 or 7 seems to never have been cared for very well. He went to the orthopedic surgeon today and he said just what the regular vet had said...that Ozzy either had Legg-Perthes or a fracture in his hip long ago and he has been in pain all of this time. He is going to be scheduled for a femoral head ostomy as soon as possible. He is quite the little character....amazing that he can even stand up though ..the x-rays look so painful. He does lift the leg a lot...and it shakes when he holds it up. Just awful. :( Both vets told me that the poor little guy has probably never felt good...and that he has just learned to live with the pain. Makes me so mad that someone could have let him live like that. :( In spite of all of that, I must say he is quite the spunky little guy, true to his breed. I imagine he will be a total yorkshire terrorist after he is pain free! :D He also has chronic IVD which will be maintained with anti-inflammatories. The surgeon feels that the kyphosis of the spine was probably due to an interverterbral infection perhaps as a puppy. Oh...and he had a growth removed from his side last week and the biopsy came back ok..so that is a good thing! He had a cyst on his eyelid that was also removed, but it is back again, so I need to speak with the vet about that. Thanks for thinking of Ozzy! :) |
Oh little Ozzy! You are such a trooper. You have a great foster mom and you will be pain free and in a forever loving home faster than you know it! Thank God you found YHR! I still smile when I see you sitting in that water bowl!! xxoo~meg |

That picture cracks me up as well! Cannot imagine what possessed him to lie down in a bowl of water. Well, tonight was a total hoot! My son, daughter in law and grandson came over to visit. My grandson was playing fetch with two of my pups. Out of nowhere, Ozzy ran over, snatched the ball and took off with it. He then went over to my dil who picked him up and put him on the sofa next to her....the whole time the ball was in his mouth. Then the little bug decided he was Godzilla and he would not let anyone near him or his ball. It was hilarious. He is smaller than my pups but fears not a one of them. He growled and carried on like a wild child. It was pretty funny. I tried to get a picture of him showing his teeth, but missed it. I did manage to get a couple where you can see he his hugging that ball .. too funny! Attachment 269137 Attachment 269138 |
OMG that is the cutest thing I have ever seen. You can see his little paws and nails gripped so tighly on HIS ball :D I think I can see in his eyes that he wants to come live with me in cali :p |
I am hoping that LadyJane comes on to give everyone an update to Ozzy! I just got off the phone with her a little while ago and he had to have his "good" hip put back into the socket! This poor cute little guy just cannot get a break. :( I am hoping that she comes on soon to let us know what it going on in a little more detail. We were both at the vet at the same time. I was with Truman and she was with Ozzy and his emergency visit. :( |
How is little Ozzy doing? I hope his good hip is still ok and will not also require surgery. I made a donation toward his surgery, its not much but I love him and wanted to try to help. I will keep him in my thoughts wed and hope he does well through his surgery. Get better soon Ozzy so you can run around and play with your ball. |

Thank you llcornell for checking in on how the little guy is doing. It wasn't enough that he lost almost all of his teeth during his dental and neuter last week now he is going through all of this too. :( |
I just donated at YHR! Poor Ozzy! I hope the vet can find a solution for his hips! He needs some peace and comfort. Bless his sweet little heart. |
Oh no that means he had surgery on both hips  poor little guy Ladyjane I will keep you and Ozzy in my thoughts, its been a hard few weeks for you guys. |

Both of Ozzy's hips were repaired and they called me at 6:30 to let me know that he was ok and in the ICU. I am hopeful that he will be released tomorrow. Thank you all so much for thinking of this little angel. Your donations are so appreciated as his bill is way up there and will be even more once he starts physical therapy; but the place he is in is wonderful and I know he is getting the best of care. I am hopeful he will have a speedy recovery and be playing with that ball very soon. Now he will no longer be in pain when he plays...I imagine he will really be something! :D He does not like to share his ball. hehe |
I just wish there was more I could do to help |

I hope he is feeling better! Ladyjane, thank you for caring for him so diligently, you are a wonderful foster mom. I wish there was more I could do... All the pups at the Haven just melt my heart. Hopefully someday soon I can foster, though I wish there were no need. |
3 Attachment(s) Ok....Here's Ozzy!! :D The little man is a trip...he is actually trying to walk! I set up an x-pen in my den for him and when I put a bowl of water in there, he got right up to go drink some. He is wobbly, but definitely trying!! I have a feeling he will make a remarkable recovery. He is a typical little yorkie for sure! Oh...and that adorable soccer ball bed was donated by Diggy4.....she had sent all the rescues blankets. I had saved that bed for a special pup....and Ozzy IS special! :D I only took pics of him lying down...tomorrow I will get some of him standing.
