We might need to contact one of local groups. You have to be a rescue in the state of MO. The Springfield-Greene County Animal Control program will make every effort to work with qualified animal rescue groups. If you are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, you may be able to rescue animals directly from our shelter. Here are the Springfield-Greene County Health Department requirements: • You must provide proof of your organization's 501(c)(3) status. • You must be licensed with the Missouri Department of Agriculture as an animal rescue organization. • You must provide us with a copy of your organization's mission statement. It must state that your organization's purpose is to rescue animals from animal shelters. • You must have a local representative that resides within our service area. If you do not meet these requirements (for example if you do not have non-profit status, or you do not have a local representative residing in our service area): • You may contact one of the local rescue groups to assist you. • They will want to verify you are a legitimate rescue organization, and discuss the financial aspects of rescuing from our shelter. • Please don't forget to provide our animal id tag to assist them. There are no exceptions. Proof of sterilization and vaccination MUST be sent to Springfield-Greene County Health Department within ten (10) business days of rescue, unless a waiver is signed by a Missouri veterinarian saying the animal is too young or too sick to be sterilized at time of rescue. The waiver must be sent to us and should include the date when the animal can be expected to be sterilized. Within ten (10) business days from that date the proof of sterilization and vaccination need to be sent. Springfield-Greene County Animal Control will have sole discretion on which animals are available for rescue. Additional procedures for rescues that use the foster home model Animal rescue groups that use the foster home model for sheltering prior to adoption must provide the Springfield-Greene County Health Department with the address of the foster home within ten (10) business days of rescue. All foster homes must be in compliance with their local animal control regulations. Additionally, once the animal has been adopted we must be notified that the animal is no longer housed at this residence. |

I have a girlfriend who lives on an acreage almost an hour outside Springfield and her dh works in Springfield, I could contact them. But can an individual pick up this sweetie? My parents are in Branson right now also, and are driving to Witchita for the weekend and then to Tulsa, and then to maybe Montgomery, then to Atlanta and then home to Sarasota if that would help at all with transportation |
Springfield is not that far from me. Would they release her to me for an adoption fee? |
I will donate some money for gas as well.. Thank you all so much for trying to help this adorable little guy out. I wish I was closer. Let me know who to send money to! I pray that someone will save him! |
