OK Yorkie Rescue's 2 new resues!!! 4 Attachment(s) Ok... well OK Yorkie Rescue has now taken in 2 more rescues. They are from a puppymill in Missouri. They originally had told us we were getting 2 silkys. BUT, when we saw them.... we FIRMLY belive what we got was 1 silky & 1 yorkie. You guys can tell us what you think. We named them Tucker & Pearl. Tucker was/is TERRIFIED of what all is going on right now..so he seemed to "tuck" away from everyone EXCEPT when he decided he was going to break the door off his transport kennel & run off .... 3 people had to chase him down, it was sad.. he was so scared. He seemed to be a little more relaxed once we got him to his foster home & in a bigger, open kennel. We think he will come around ok. His rear end is covered in matts, he looks like someone gave him dreadlocks, it is ridiculous. He is definately gonna have to be shaved down, so sad :( !!They tell us they think he is about 6-7 yo, we will see what the vet thinks. Pearl is about 2 years old & we think a YORKIE.. not silky... what do ya'll think? We gave her her name because of her coat... very creamy, ivory.. all over. She is a sweet little girl... also scared, but will come around nicely as well. She is very dirty & has a little bit of matting but not bad at all, nothing a good grooming wont take care of. Thank you to their new foster moms... Alisha & Jess Steele and Katie & Bobby Smith. Both are very excited about their fosters & we appreciate their donation of time, love & compassion for these babies. |
i'm 99.9% sure Pearl is a yorkie.. |
Pearl looks like a Yorkie to me too. |

I cant wait to see the after pics of thses babies. I am also crossing my fingers that their vet visits go well too! Other than shots, Spay/neuter & cleanings, I hope there isnt much more they needs. They have been through enough already. |
3 Attachment(s) Hello everyone!! I'm Katie. This is my first post here! My husband and I are the ones fostering Pearl. She is doing wonderful! We got her at about 11:30 last night and she was pretty scared. Once we got her in the house and let her sniff around a little bit and slightly introduced her to our other dogs (Bella my 7 month old yorkie and Bo our 1 yo pug-tzu...yup half pug half shi-tzu! haha) it was about 12:30. We decided to introduce her to her crate. She actually really liked it! We kept the door open and she just laid in there pretty content. She didn't cry once last night! This morning we let her out to potty which she did fairly quickly. After that we gave her a bath. Let me tell ya she sure doesn't like the bathtub very much at all! She was sooo scared! I tried to make it as quick as possible for her so I'm gonna have to give her another one in a day or so to get what little crud is still left on her. After the bath I got her all dried off and she just let my brush her forever. After getting her all cleaned up we really introduced her to our other dogs. She absolutely loves them and they sure do love her back! She is much more comfortable with the dogs than with us but she's warming up. Once she lets us hold her she just clings to us for dear life. She seems to be pretty healthy. I am worried about her bladder though. She's squatting to pee about every minute but only pees a tiny drop. Her urine is neon yellow so I'm thinking she just hasn't had that much water in her system so I'm trying to get her hydrated. Other than that seems to be in pretty good shape. I've never posted on her but I'm going to try to attach pics so bare with me if it doesn't work! |
They are both precious and I love their names. Pearl looks more yorkie than silky to me from the pictures. Poor babies being so scared, that is what breaks my heart about the rescues, knowing how scared they must be. And a big Thank You Alisha & Jess and Katie & Bobby, also to you Judy....without you OKYR couldn't exist....and God only knows what would have happened to these precious dogs. Kelly and Angi - with all of the miles you two have driven, we need to find an economical way for you to travel.....maybe scooters w/baskets?:p:D |
They are both beautiful :) I just love their coloring. Silky or Yorkie, I'm so happy they were rescued. Please let us know how they come along. |

Scooters WOULD be MUCH MUCH more economical though, I do agree. Our fuel expense has doubled in the last week  CRAZY.... |
Tucker Hello everyone! My name is Alisha and my husband, Jess, and I are taking care of beautiful Tucker. Last night we fed and watered Tucker and this morning he had finished off all of the water and food plus even a dental chew stick. This morning and afternoon my husband, my mother, Vickie, and I gave Tucker a decent shave (we are not by any means groomers), but at least he is cooler and not as matted. After we shaved all we could, we let him play outside. He sniffed around and laid down, finally. Then we gave him a bath and I think he pretty much enjoyed it. He loved the water running over his skin. Then I brushed him and I think I put him to sleep because he snuggled up to my leg. Then I gave him a massage in my lap, which relaxed him and caused him to snuggle up in my lap. He is very skinny and it seems like I can’t get him to eat much. He hasn’t eaten anything since what I gave him last night. Right now, he is in his crate with food and water, dental chew and a big fluffy pillow that he just loves!!! I am worried about his hind end because when he walks he kind of wobbles. I don’t know if he is just stiff or if there is a major problem. I am hoping he is just stiff. He is so scared and any loud noise jars him. I haven’t let him around my other dog just yet because Dax (4 ½ years, a Yorkie) is very hyper and I’m afraid that Tucker won’t know what to do. I’m trying to let him get comfortable with his surroundings before my too bubbly dog scares him even more than he already is. I’ll try to keep everyone updated on Tucker. Tomorrow he is going to the vet, so we will know more tomorrow. |
What a great job you are all doing,:D These litle ones sound as if they need a lot of TLC and it seems that is exactly what they are getting in their wonderful new foster homes.:) It will be great to hear all about their progress, wishing you all the best of luck.:aimeeyork Julie |
2 Attachment(s) GREAT JOB!!! My sister has a Silky and looks kinda like Pearl, so maybe she is a Silky... Here are 2 pics that I found of Lulu the Silky (these are when she was a baby so her black hair has almost grown out to the grey) - The ears and snout on Pearl look Silky to me :) |
