I thought I updated this last night! Everyone at my house got sick at the same time ... Toto has an ear infection & I took her in yesterday ... then Patrick came home from the office "green" sick! Seems there's a nasty little bug going around & lucky boy, he got it. Was at "Docs on Call" with him last night! They will both be fine ... but they're a handful! :) Mia is still in the hospital and will be until at least Thursday. There was no immediate change ... tiny little thing is all hooked up to IV's, etc. We know yesterday was too soon to see change, but we were hoping! I'm praying that we will get encouraging news today. mistyinca: This link goes to the page with her story. Her name at surrender was "Mila Bell" but FM calls her Mia and it just fits! http://yorkierescuecolorado.com/adopt.html We would appreciate your continued prayers for this little girl ... this seems to be the only thing we can do at this point! Thank you all so much! |
Awwww----- little angel. Bettyeanne - GREAT thread and that's so heartbreaking - I was just on your site and it really touched me. GOOD LUCK and prayers for little Mila (mia ?) and her little buddies who need help |

Thought some of you would like to know that although there is no change yet, tiny little Mia is out of the hospital and home with her FM. The Drs. say that it will probably be at least two weeks before any noticible change, if this works. We are just continuing to pray for a miracle for this tiny little girl! Thank you all so much for your concern and prayers! |

what a heartbreaking story! |
Update on Mila.... Update Dec 9, 2007 Mia has many tests, been seen by numerous vets, all of whom have told us she has a compromised liver, or MVD. A test done at Cornell University came back with a diagnosis of MVD. In spite of doing everything we possibly could do for Mila; there was no change in her condition. As a last ditch effort, Mila was taken to see a neurologist who examined her, did a spinal tap and a MRI. The results of these test show that Mila DOES NOT have MVD! She has an inflammation of the white matter on the right side of her brain, hydro encephalitis and was born with an under developed cortex. She was kept in the hospital for several days and given an IV push of drugs to clear up the infection. Chances of Mila regaining her vision are guarded - however; her foster mom has noticed some slight improvement. If improvement in motor skills is seen within the next 10 days; we are hopeful that her condition will steadily improve over time. Even if she does improve, Mila will always be retarded because of her congenital condition. She will have to have medication for the rest of her life. We love her anyway! I thought you might find it interesting to know that 1/4 of a regular pepcid tablet..... 1/4 of a tablet.... cost $11.80 at the hospital! Thank you all for caring and please keep baby Mila in your prayers. There is simply nothing more we can do to help her; so please pray that this medication will work. |
