I have the velcro kind and it puts pressure on Rocco neck when he pulls.
What is a good harness that doesn't put pressure on the trachea?

I haven't used the one made by Tiger's mom, but I have two that are made by chattiesmom...they are the dupioni silk ones and are VERY secure. I also have the matching leash and coupler for my two furbabies. My female has a collapsing trachea and it is the ONLY harness that I have found so far that she can use without honking and snorting all over her walk. They are lightweight and won't tangle or mat hair either. Check those out as well!! You can pm her or search for silk harnesses and find the thread.

I love the harnesses by Tiger's Mom (Des). The "D" ring is low enough where even if you pick up your baby by the leash attached to the harness, the pressure stays in the middle of the back - not on the neck at all.

I have harnesses from both Tiger's Mom (Des) and Chattiesmom (Cindy) and they both make great harnesses!

I use buddybelt harnesses... they're made of good quality leather and come in a wide array of colors. It's a step in harness and doesn't go anywhere near the dog's neck.

You can get lots of good harness vest (the kind with velcro) that dont put pressure on the neck. It all depends on where the d-ring is located. It need to be lower down on the harness. I can literally lift chloe up with ease in the harness vest that I make her.

I agree with you. It all depends on where the d-ring is placed on the outfit. I also have had to pick my babies up quickly by lifting them up with their leashes attached to the vest when my neighbors rottie came over. My dogs are very territorial but weighing 10 and 15 lbs are no match for a rottie hehe. Picking them up this way didn't put any impact on their neck it was all in their chest area. Just make sure when your shopping to look at the placement of the d-ring on the outfit. Good luck shopping.

I have harnesses by Chattiesmom and the Buddy Belts and just ordered some Puppia Orion II. The buddy Belts I really like and the silk ones too.
My tomboy, Tinka somehow ripped her two Buddy Belts and I just had them repaired at a tack shop here in town. The repairman said the leather was not a good grain at all and that's why the dog could wreck it.

I wrote to the company just to inquire about it and to relate to them what the leather repair guy said. Their reply was that they used a very high grade leather and it would be impossible for a dog to rip or chew them. I couldn't believe they said that. i think dogs can chew through just about anything - especially puppies! They also wanted to know the color of the harnesses, so maybe that makes a difference? So, I'm stil waiting to hear back from them. Other than that, the harnesses are very comfy and don't go around neck at all.

I just ordered one from Tiger's Mom. It was so hard to decided on the fabric she had so many. I got the whole set with leash and bow. Jinny will be the best dressed one at the family reunion.

About how long does it take to get them?

We have harness dresses by Connie and LOVE THEM....they're totally cute - and very well made. I don't even use a regular harness anymore - my girls only wear Dress Harnesses.
