I just got a FREE $100 Sherpa Carrier LOL
 

So my sister calls me last night and says, "OMG! You will never guess what I just got!" :eek: I'm thinking to myself...ok, what the heck...she got a YORKIE! :cheer: LOL...since she's been wanting one and all.

Anyway, she says, "I got a Sherpa!!" I said OMG! Why on earth did YOU get a Sherpa??? She has a 55 lb Bulldog which is why I said this :p

She goes on to tell me that her neighbor (who is the daughter and son-in-law of THE MOST wealthy people in this entire town) was going to just throw the thing away!! :eek: And this carrier looks BRAND SPANKIN' NEW! There are even tags still attached!

Anyway, so she says that the reason she got it, is for ME :D What a nice sister she is huh? lol. Hehehe. She said that she would bring it to me today, so this morning when I got up, I walk into the living room, and there is this Sherpa bag sitting in my entry way! lol. She must have brought it over super early this morning before my hubby left for work and I was still sleeping.

Now mind you I know absolutely NOTHING about carriers since I have never owned one until now. But I would say that this is a medium sized one I guess? Stedman will fit WELL in it - however I know that little miss Tator Tot would go sliding around everywhere in it :p

I looked online and this carrier sells for $100! I just cannot believe that someone was going to throw this brand new carrier away! Insane! I am thinking...has that girl ever heard of EBAY? :p I guess she just doesn't need the money though - lucky for me! :p

I have to admit, it's not the carrier or my dreams or anything - but hey, it is a nice carrier - brand new, and an expensive one at that! So I can't complain :p

Anyway, I took some pictures of it and was wondering if anyone else here owned this carrier or a Sherpa that is similar? If so, could you give me some reviews on it? Pros/cons? I know absolutely nothing about it!

It's just so funny that this happened though as some of you may or may not know, I have been looking to get a carrier for several weeks now. Wow, I guess I must be doing SOMETHING right for my luck to be this good :D

Wow! That is such a cute carrier. Sorry I don't have one to give you advice about it. But I just wanted to say Congrats you lucky girl! What a thoughtful sister you have! Too sweet!! Enjoy the new carrier!! :)

I have a sherpa bag and always took it when we would fly. They allowed that one in 1995 and still do but mine is all black and soft enough to put under the seat.
Mine was $100 back then when I had money;) so a $100 now is a good buy but I never would be able to afford it now. Mine is just as nice as the day I bought it and the quality is marvelous.

Oh I know. I just can't believe that someone would want to chunk it! :eek: It's one thing if you don't want or need it anymore...but heck, GIVE it to someone, or sell it...why throw it in the trash like she was about to :eek: Good thing my sister caught her walking to throw it out when she did lol ;)

You know...I haven't even put my babies in it yet, so I haven't a clue! I know Steddy will fit ok in it...and if he is in there WITH her, I shouldn't have a problem with Tate. I know her alone in the bag wouldn't work as it is too big for JUST her alone. Hmmm....my babies have never ever been in a carrier before - I am so curious to see what they are going to do :eek: lol

Just measured mine is 15" long and 10" high and I know people who have carried two small yorkies at once in my size.

LOL I will try to get some pictures of the babies in the carrier - oh good Lord...I can just SEE Tate now :eek: Throwing one of her little fits, lol. She hates pictures as it is, I am scared to see what she'll do if I try and take them while she is stuck in a bag :eek: LOL

I will measure mine tonight to see if that is the right size . . it sure looks it though :thumbup:

Girl, after what you've been thru, you sure deserve a nice surprise! Your sister is SOOOO sweet for thinking of you. I hope more nice surprises come your way.

I have this carrier. It's the very first one (of a few more now....haha) that I ever bought when Kobi was just a baby. It's pretty roomy, and I really really like the fact that it's hard-sided so Kobi doesn't get squished when he's in it. I'm not sure how big Stedman and Tatum are...but I'm guessing if they love each other (hehe) and don't need too much personal space, they could fit :D So glad you got it...it really is a nice carrier.

One thing I would NOT recommend for it is air travel. It says it is approved, and I've flown with it twice but would not again. The first time was Northwest, and it fit BARELY under the seats, but then I flew Delta, and it literally didn't fit. I had to like have my feet on top of it..eek! Very nice!!! I have the plain black medium that I bought since I wanted one I could put my 2 yorkies in or my 11 lb pom. They fit very nicely. I have even put all 3 in but it was a little crowded. The yorkies can sleep comfortably stretched out and I had My my pom and Cali both in it the other day and they were fine. The only problem I have is when I have Maya and Cali or Pixie together it is a little hard to carry as the bottom isn't real supportive.

This is the one I got back in '95' for $100 and it looks much larger than it is in this picture. Also you can't see in it hardly at all like the flash on the camera made it appear. I can bring her in a restaurant if it's too hot in the car and people think I have luggage.

I like your style much better but I like this one since she gets so much air and I can fly with her. Maybe it's the one Tiger's Mom and Patti have??

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...... I wonder what other goodies end up in their trash!! I have never rummaged thru my neighbors garbage, but if I was your sister, I would definitely do a "walkby" on garbage day!!:p
