I can't believe I just read this whole thread, feeling more and more ill. :sickie:

Most disgusting roach I ever came across was in the Caribbean on vacation. Now I leave my lights on at night when I'm down there! You never know what's crawling around on the floor in the dark. :eek:

I'm off to preventively spray all openings now! *shudder*

And by the way....GROSS to the roach in the box :eek: I would have freaked - but I am EXTREMELY squeamish when it comes to bugs, worms (OMG!! :eek:) lizards, frogs, mice...oh Lord I could go on and on. I don't like ANY of them!! :thumbdown lol. I do have to say though that I find it funny that there are actually people out there that didn't know what a roach was or even what one looked like :eek: Wow, I guess they really AREN'T everywhere...I never realised that, until now! :p

When I was in college, I worked in the Financial Aid office at the school. On April Fools day one year we (the student workers) got a fake roach (like the one in V's picture) and put it in a file on one of our coworkers' desks. When she got back from lunch, she pulled that file in front of her & opened the cover & saw that thing. It was just a rubber one, but looked very real. ANyway, you never saw a chair roll so far away so fast (and on carpet too!!) She screamed, "OH, S***!!!!" We laughed so hard until we had tears coming down our cheeks. Looking back it's still funny, but I'm glad we did it to her & not the other way around!!!

LOLOLOLOL !!!! Don't you just love it when a joke works that well ?? That was funny and I can just see it happening......and yes you would pick one up with your hand IF you had a Crazed Yorkie Girl thinking it was a new toy...:D :D well maybe a kleenex would have been better ...but I had sprayed the one I saw today with ant spray and didn't want the girls grabbing it with their nosy little mouths.

Yes I do love it because it's rare that I get in a practical joke that good. They usually bomb on me. I think only someone else here in Texas could fully appreciate that! Thanks! I figured everyone would tell me how horrible I was.

ok true, we do have roaches that can get that big here but they are rarely seen, at least by me thank god. i'd make such a scene if i saw one....wait...i also do that with any bug. unless its a gnat or tiny ant. LOL

They do have them on the east coast girl - I don't want to give you nightmares but I was in New York in a tunnel once and saw tons of monster roaches

But PuppyLovinNurse- you didn't have to throw out your stuff ..unless it was edible I wouldn't have done that - they really can't hurt anything. It's very possible the critter snuck a ride in the box or was just hiding in the folds - any of us could have done the same thing when using cardboard boxes....they're very good at hiding.
OK a NYC tunnel is like a totally different environment from anywhere in the world. They have all types of creatures that could survive a nuclear bomb LOL

:) Oh! We have lots of roaches here on the east coast!!! Have to keep the exterminater coming to spray regularly. He told me not only do roaches love the glue in paper bags and cardboard, they love the glue in shelf liner and wall paper! I detest roaches!!!! Can't sleep if I have seen one. But ,yes, we do have roaches on the East coast.

I lived in NC for 10 years (grew up there) and heck yea there's roaches...but I think she meant no roaches in the Northeast.

There's definitely none around here...

Oh my do I have some cockroach stories!!! I used to live in Houston, TX and had to learn to switch the light switch off on the wall and be in my bed (across the room!! lol),before the lights went off!!! They all came out then... eeeew!!! I am panic stricken at the sight of any of these, and in Texas, they are LARGE!!! Here is a story for you guys, I work in the industry they refer to, and this story gets told often to new employees. (true) It will make you think twice:D

If you go to the Heights in NYC you will see the biggest, nastiest waterbugs hiding in garbage, tunnels, dirt, and especially in the summer time!! YUCK!!
