Ok! We decided on the stroller, now need car seat advice!!!

We decided on the Happy Trails stroller:
http://www.justpetstrollers.com/happ..._stroller.html

Does anyone have either of these car seats:

http://www.hunterk9.com/site/870877/product/86100

http://www.hunterk9.com/site/870877/product/24102

We are trying to compare these two to the Snoozer lookout. If anyone has any of these, I'm interested in knowing if you are happy and if your babies are happy with it!! Thanks!

Yorkiedaze 04-06-2007 12:32 PM

When you choose a car seat, make sure it's high enough where they can see out. This way they don't get sick or bored.

rxybabe17 04-06-2007 12:44 PM

I have a carseat that is similar to the second one and I don't really like it. I really want to get one like the first one I just have to make myself spend the money on it. Someone on here has them and they come in different colors and you can get their name put on it. I think a lot of people have the lookout and are pleased with it. I really want one too.

RascalLucy 04-06-2007 01:15 PM

I have that stroller, also. I love it!!!!! I use it all the time, at the mall, when I get my nails done, any where I want my hands free. It is too hard for me to carry my baby in a purse for more than 1 hour ( and she is small). People see her in the stroller and laugh when we are at the mall, of course they think they are going to see a baby. It's all in good fun. We were at a yorkie birthday party the other day, I brought out the stroller and everyone loved it. They put their yorkies in it and took pictures. Then Lucy got in it curled up and and went to sleep.

RascalLucy 04-06-2007 01:17 PM

Oh, also, between the seats, I would go with the first choice.

That's what I'm thinking. We will be making our first car trip with our 15lb Yorkie-Poo and our 4lb Yorkie and I want this to be as stress free as possible!

I keep trying to find a less expensive option, but I guess that really isn't the way to go! It seems like the first one or the Snoozer lookout is really the way to go! Thanks!

I'm so glad you like it! We thought about going with a less expensive stroller, but I've read alot of feedback on Yorkietalk and other places and it seems like this stroller is really durable and probably money better spent in the long run!

Don't have either of those carseats. I went through 2 with Ginger, then got Bernie and needed a two-seater.

Fed up with spending big bucks on carseats, I made my own. I don't remember for sure, but I think I spent less than $12. And no sewing!

Good luck whatever you choose!

pea496 04-06-2007 02:44 PM

I have the same stroller in blue. Love it. I also have the first carseat. Conner loves it because he can lay down and still see us (because of the mesh in the front). We took it to Florida with us (as a suitcase on the plane), and he used it as a bed while we were in Florida. I would purchase this carseat again in a minute (it is high so that he can see out the window).

Yorkiedaze 04-06-2007 03:36 PM

ebay has it a bit cheaper

Wow, you should market the carseat you made! I'm afraid I'm not the least bit talented to make one!

Where did you purchase your car seat? I'm glad to see you are happy with it. I like the idea of the storage and that it can be used as a bed.

I ordered on coolstuffcheap.com. They ship the next day and I believe they had free shipping. Good Luck.

Here's the car seat I use. My girls each have one - they can see out and it doesnt have the straps going across the front that they can chew on or can't see around. I love it!! And the ebay seller is fantastic!!! quick shipping

I had thought about those, but can your girls lay down in it or only sit up?
I'm just wondering for longer car trips if that would work or not.
Thanks!

Took a look at your first to picks....The first one my son has for his dog....not really comfortable....very hard. The 2nd one doesn't appear to have the padded protection or comfort of a look out. If you shop around, pet edge, cherry brook and other pet suppliers you can find the Look Out much cheaper.

Thank You, I will check those sites out. I liked the idea of the one being a bed and suitcase, but I was wondering about the comfort compared to the lookout.

My girls are tiny so yes they can lay down and even when they get to be about 4-5 lbs they should be able to lay down. These do come in larger sizes too!

LoveMyGirlz 04-07-2007 10:09 PM

Not sure if you ordered your stroller yet...I have the same one....love everything about it except it is a bit difficult to get zipped up! Could be a better design  But I do like it and I can take it out of the trunk or put it back with one hand! Thats a plus!
however, this link a couple bucks cheaper and shipping is free - if the other site didn't offer free shipping, this would be worth it for you.

My carseat is the lookout with the drawer underneath...both girls fit in fine, sitting or laying and I just bought a second harness clip ;)

We were at puppy class yesterday at Petsmart and they had the stroller and you are right, the zipper is a little tricky. It's so easy to get up and down though and it seems to glide nice! We thought about the expensive three wheel all terrain one, but that doesn't lay flat at all and is kind of clunky.
Thanks for the link, I'm trying to find the best deal on it!

Do you have the Lookout 1, 2 or the Buddy one?
Thanks!

AngelWorks 04-08-2007 03:35 AM

I picked up a lookout used from e-bay. Just the basic one, no storage.

It came yesterday and though we haven't had it in the car yet----Milo has been in and out of it. Even got up in it and took a nap.

So I am sure he's going to love it.

He's not a car dog and I had to make a trip back to my NH house this past week---about 4 hours. I rigged something similer to the lookout with a pillow and one of his beds and even clipped his harness to the SB strap.

It really made the trip easier for him. When he got tired of watching out the window he just flopped down and slept.

Did you get the smaller size or the larger size? Wrigley is just a hair over 4lbs and I want to make sure for long trips she can sleep in it. I'm also hoping that at times our 15lb Yorkie Poo can use it. She's terrible in the car! The smaller one says up to 18lbs and the larger one 25lb, but that doesn't always mean everything.
Thanks!

I believe it's the smaller one--Milo is almost 5 lbs and can def curl up and sleep with room to spare-----I will take a pic of him in it later and you can see how much room he has and that might help.

Oh that would be great! It's hard trying to decide, I think new there is a $20-30 difference in the two sizes and I'm just wondering if it's worth it or not.
Thank You!!
