Royal Canin Dog Food Hello, My vet said Yorkies are prone to early tooth loss and the best food to give my puppy should be Royal Canin for Yorkshire Terriers does anyone use this? and how are your dogs teeth due to this food?? Right now she is on Iams puppy formula and I want opinons on what food is best for Mia's teeth. |
That's Funny... Skittles was originally on Royal Canin (Puppy 33), but MY Vet suggested I change her to IAMS. So, I too, am interested in what others are experiencing. |
I have used it for 6 years and the dogs love it. No tarter on teeth and they are very healthy. I put the babies on Royal Canin baby dog at 4 week old and at 8 weeks I put them on Royal Canin puppy. Would not change their food for anything. Also Royal Canin gives me my puppy kits and a bag of sample food for each puppy I sell. Go to their web site lot of good info. I've been using Royal Canin YT 28 for 6 years. Have had wonderful success. I start with Royal Canin Weaning, graduate to Puppy 33 and then to YT 28. What is great is you feed less and it's a good qualitify food. |
Sammy and Loki were both on RC when I got them and I switched both of them. RC has corn in it. However, it is WAY better than IAMS. IAMS is junk. Read the ingredients and judge for yourself. The YT formula is nothing special. Just feed a good quality food like Canidae, Innova, Artemis, Merrick, etc. Also, there is nothing wrong with canned food as long as it's good canned food like Merrick and you brush their teeth. Brushing their teeth is important. |
I think it is a great food which my two LOVED but I did have some problems with allergies from it so unfortunately I had to switch. They did love it though so if your two do good with it than I say go for it. I know mine did like it a lot!! |
Oscar was on the Royal Canin Puppy and then the adult formula. But he had a problem with the corn and we switched to Wellness...but Royal Canin is a very good food...if your dog does not have food allergies. |
Sam eats Royal Canine Puppy w/the weanie dog on it and loves it! He has no problems with at all. I also switched my other two boys to Royal Canine for dogs 8 plus - they love it. |
thanks for the review I had Friday (4 months old now) on the RC puppy 30 and now since she is almost finished with that bag, I just bought her RC puppy 33 ... I sure hope it is okay for her ... shez a wee little one (only 2lbs 3 oz) ... I am hoping she shows no allergies to the high gluten corn stuff .... I am glad to hear a lot of you guys have recommended it ... thanks for the review... I have Monday (4.5 years old) on California Natural Reduced Calorie Chicken and Rice ...(she weighs 4 1/2 pounds now, up a quarter of a pound) ... she needs a low residue diet. Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!! |
Mine used to eat it for about 2 years. It is a good food unless your dog has allergy problems since it has corn in it. Mine now eat Nutro |
Wrigley just recently switched to this and so far she really loves it and will eat it wet or dry. We mix Merricks wet food in with it for her breakfast and dinner and then dry for lunch. |
When I first got Kiba, the vet suggested Science Diet. I started to notice all the advertisements for Science Diet around the office. Some vets don't always have your dog's best interests at heart, such as suggesting IAMS dog food (which isn't bad, but doesn't rank higher than Royal Canin at all). I've been using Royal Canin since they were pups, and they love it! They've been healthy, their hair has become silky smooth, solid waste, and their teeth growing in strong! |
I use BLUE which a total holistic food with no meat by products or yeast. Royal canin is also a great food!! I think these 2 are top of the line. I would tend to agree with your vet on this one. Good Luck Melinda Sassy-Petwear |
My younger boys eat Royal Canin puppy #33, and they have had not problem with it. I do also brush their teeth to help prevent any problems later in their life. My girl is on a special diet for weight loss but once shes back to a healthy weight she will get Royal Canin #28. Just remember its always a good idea to start brushing their teeth early so they get used to it, no matter what kind of food you give them!!! |
I had Bailey on Royal Canin from the time she was 10 weeks old. In Nov at 19 mo, I had to switch her to a different brand because of developing food allergies from RC. Royal Canin has corn in it. Our vet used to carry RC in her office but has switched brands in the last few months because of all the problems she was seeing in her patients. Iams is not a very good food, and they also do animal testing, here is the link. www.iamscruelty.com There are much better foods then both of these. Go to a local pet food store (not Petco or Petsmart) or feed store and ask for samples of different brands to try. Here is a link for quality dog foods: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...ndex.php/cat/1 Good luck |
