Glo Coat This product is amazing! My groomer usedit on Lexy and she is so silky now! I bought a bottle of course! |
is there a website? i wonder if it will work on Ginger.. Do you know if it'll work on cottonycoats? |
Lexy's coat was wiry and cottony. Still a tiny puppy coat. Now it is smooth and shiny and soft! The groomer thinks she will be silky thank goodness! Try typing in Glo coat on a search engine and I'll bet you can find it! |
i tried in google, but i keep getting ProGlo or Shampoo that makes you Glo :D LOL |
|
Yep! That's it! |
Great! I ordered a bottle.. *crosses fingers* hope it works! |
Me too! Let me know how you like it! |
I just ordered some too. I hope it works!!! :) |
cheaper alternative and a question/concern Oh my goodness! That's a heck of a mark-up. That product is made for Petedge. You can get a near wholesale price for it here: http://www.petedge.com/shopping/brow...eyword=glocoat Petedge sells the 16oz size for $5.99 and suggested retail price is only $12.99. I may be wrong, but it sounds like the product is a made similar to Laser sheen, a product we use on horses. Check the ingrediants. Does it contain silicone? |
I don't know what is in it, but Lexy's groomer used it on her a week ago and she still isn't smelly or dirty!! Usually have to bathe her every week! Her hair is still soft and untangled too! |
Silicone Silicone was used on horses before it was used on dogs reason being, it seals the hair follicle, which is why it makes the coat so shiny and keeps it clean for such a long time. The problem is it can build up in the hair and because it seals the shaft, it prevents the hair from getting moisture, so it can’t be left in the coat. It will ultimately dry out the coat and damage it if left in there. So when you first start using it, you get terrific results but it will slowly “turn” against you. http://www.papillonclub.org/Educatio...ap_TNT2002.htm Horse show people use it in the horses coats on show day and then immediately wash it out when they get home. I have never used this sho-glo but from the sound of it, it may have silicone in it. I’d check the ingredients to be sure. Personally, I keep to non silicone based products such as Plush Puppy Reviva coat, and Swishy Coat which add shine but don’t use Silicone to cut down hair breakage (Penny has such a fine coat, we need all the hair we can get!). |
Coat Ruby looked dry and cottony too until i used a vo5 hair dressing gel have you all tried it ? groomer did it and told me to do it also thay like charge $50.00 for the hot oil treatment when you can do it yourself, looking better and got some salmon oil pills at petsmart , helping look more silky every day, but I 'll get me a bottle of that stuff also! Thanks girls! :p |
coat I also tried the product pet silk has anyone else and liked it? :) |
I looked on the bottle of Glo Coat and it doesn't have the ingredients listed. I'm gonna try to find them online. |
I found the Top Performance GloCoat - 16oz for $9.99 at this website: http://www.allysalleypetshoppe.com/shampoo.html Kim :) |
I emailed petedge for the ingredients in GloCoat. Their response: This is a proprietary blend of ingredients, all of which are at least cosmetic grade. GloCoat also includes dimethicone. Dimethicone is used in food machines in cafeterias as a lubricant as it is non-toxic. I just googled dimethicone and it is a type of silicone. So this is a no go for my Molly? Val |
I'm glad you found out! I'm still going to use it on Lexy though. At least until her adult hair comes in. Puppy hair is so cottony and mats too easily and this product really helped her. Thanks for investigating the ingredients! |

This is why I don't recommend a product with Silicone (when you described how the product worked and the fact that it repelled dirt, I had a good hunch what the product was made of). It's not that the stuff is harmful. i don't any idea that it is or isn't - but I do know that over the long term, it is NOT good for your Yorkie's hair. It will dry the coat out over time. |
EEnsor- Make sure you still keep up with the regular baths. Maybe not every week but regular. Yorkiepower is right this will turn against you over time but it is a great product to use between baths to keep her looking great. We use it at work on our dogs that come in regularly (usually every 2-3 weeks). Most owners love the way thier dogs look but we make sure that they know that if the product is left in the hair for long periods of time it does damage the hair. Just a little grooming info- Kelly |
Sorry, this is OT, but YorkiePower, on your avatar is looks like you are being presented with a ribbon?? at a dog show. Can you tell us about it? We'd love to hear of your success and see more pictures! |
Hey Ot. :) Well it's 12 AM my time so I can't go into much detail (beleive it or not I was just checking web orders and packing stuff to be shipped out tormorrow!). I did post something a little while ago about Penny at a show and her spot on Sex in the City. She has two shows this weekend, so please keep your fingers and toes crossed for us and I promise to write more next week. That sound OK? Thanks for asking! :p ;) |

Bump! |
Double bump! I really want to know if I should use something else! :) |
Eensor- This stuff is fine to use regularly as long as you keep up with the baths. It is a great product to use to keep your baby looking great between baths. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that you shouldn't use it and not bath your dog regularly. Don't panic. This is a great product and I will would use it on my dog if it had a longer coat too. Kelly |
Hmmm... I am wondering if I should check into this stuff. |
It works great but you just dont want to leave it on for too long without bathing the dog since the silicone will dry out the coat |
Oh! So its okay to bathe her once a week and use it on her everytime? That's what I think you're saying. I wonder how the silicone damages the hair if it is left in too long? I can't imagine not bathing a Yorkie every week to 10 days! The get so dirty and stinky if you don't! LOL Thanks for the info! |
yes you got it. for some reason silicone will dry out over time. Dont really know why. Most of the yorkies that we take care of at work come in once a week. If you need any other grooming info just ask. If I dont have the answer I will find it for you. Kelly |
