Avoid shopping at Hands N Paws!! I was looking for a harness vest and went to their site. They had an easy go step in harness listed under harness vests. It is nothing like a harness vest and very complicated to put on (which I wanted something easy). It also has a long long part that will hang down if not attached to the leash (so the dog will trip) When I asked them for a return, they were very rude saying "that is your opinion" (when I told them how I felt about it). Terrible customer service. I paid $19.00 plus $6.50 shipping and tax. I will only get about $6 back (can't remember how much the tax was) if I return this UN-USED with tags on it, item. I will avoid shopping htere in the future! suzie |
Just curious, why will they only return $6? |
A lot of places charge a restocking fee (sometimes 10.00 or more) which makes it sooo not worth the time, money, or effort to return something - I guess they do that on purpose. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with them - there's nothing worse than ordering something online, getting excited about your purchase, only to find that it's not exactly what you were looking for - and to top it off with bad customer service... :thumbdown Is it too late to keep it and make your own adjustments to it? |
They charge a 15% or $5 restocking fee plus I am out the shipping costs. In one respect I can see why some places do, but they should understand that we can't see these products in person (size and such) and go by what they tell us. I feel that the description did not fit what it really is and had I known this big long thing sticks out...my god...there is no way i would have purchased it. I probably will keep it. it can't be re-adjusted or anything so I doubt I'll every use it. I'm out about $25-$30 and it makes me mad because I'm pinching pennie4s here and needed something easy...could not find it in a store and have been searching online forever. suzie |
What about trying to resell it on Ebay? |
I have heard bad stories about them on other forums too. |
Geez! What a bummer! Thank you for the head's up. I am so very sorry that you have had this horrid experience. I don't know about you guys, but my hard earned $$ is too hard to come by to have unused "stuff" just sitting around. Customers should always be treated with honesty and respect in my book. |

Yep, if you read the 'fine print' on a lot of websites, they'll list a restocking fee (regardless of the item) - some won't take things back at all. I think it's ridiculous. |
wow Thanks for the tip! How hard is it to restock a small item like a harness. |
I have to hand it to Rae Rae ....charging a re-stocking fee for a harness is silly !! It's just another way to make money. Many online stores are just a one person op. Don't know about Hands N Paws ....but they sure could have treated you better. |
Glad you posted this, I'm browsing online at all these dog boutiques...I'm looking at carriers, harnesses, coats, and shoes. I definitly won't check out this site now. |
I had a problem with them a few years ago on a new carrier/tote that when it arrived I could see would not work for the dog or me. They refused to give me back my money or issue a store credit without a big fight with American Express. Even though the bag was in their unopened packaging, it was a hassle. |
barking clothes offered to fix I just talked to the barking clothes store and she said she may be able to fix the harness so that it will work for me. She is awesome. Just received her products. Will type more on another post. I dont know if she can fix it, but if she can...great. It's not worth returning and getting $6 back. suz |
