What shampoo/Conditioner does everyone use?
 

I know we have talked about this several times, but I really would like to know what brand of Shampoo/Conditioner everyone uses. :)

I have tried it all I think...I find many things work well...I like Coat Handler products..all of them...Vellus has a product called "Tangle Out" great for brushing. I like Silk, Vellus..even Panteen makes good products..

I also use Coathandlers Shampoo (15 to 1) and their conditioner. I have tried others but this has been the best for me.

I use happytails furbutter deep conditioner on chloe and I use thier oatmeal shampoo.

I use Chris Christensen Day to Day moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

Crazy dog baby dog shampoo, from petco. Smells like baby lotion

I use Pet Silk .

I use a non tear on the faces, then I use the day to day by Christansen. Now, last week I bought something called 'Pearls Au Lait' by Tomlyn. It's called Milk Bath that is a shampoo with conditioners. I have to say that this Milk Bath is GREAT! My cotton hair Mari, has stayed soft for a week! Normally, with anything I have used on her she feels like straw after about three days. With Angel, she has the smooth silky hair and now a week later she still looks good. It was $$ though 12 oz $13. But I will try anything that works.

I went looking for that Pet Silk I had read about here on YT but have not been able to find it.

Also, for grooming, I use and LOVE the brush that I found in the Chris Christansen catalog that came with the shampoo and cond. It is the oval, no handle 'Terrier Brush' that was engineered in Germany. Again, it was $$ around $30. or so but it is the BEST. If I lost it I would replace it in a minute!!

I also use Chris Christensen Day to Day moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. I was amazed at the difference it made with Jaxon - he is much silkier now and very shiny!

I use Pet Silk moisturizing shampoo

I use Head & Shoulders for dry scalps. The vet recommended it for Hobbs' dry skin. But we use puppy tearless shampoo on his head since it is safe for the eyes.

I use the CC Day to Day also. If found out about it here and will be forever grateful. What a difference! It works equally well on Gracie's silky coat and Spike's crazy thick cotton coat. Love it!!!

Itchy puppy problem
 

Hello, I am new to the community and so glad to find so many yorkie owners who care so much about their dogs. My baby Gracie is almost 5 months old and is constantly scratching as of this past week. I had just taken her to Los Angeles so when I called the groomers, they said it might be the climate change or allergies.

I am now back in Chicago and she is still scratching. She was scratching her face a lot but now it is her neck and biting near her tail. Does anyone have any all natural products they use that is safe for puppies and provides extra moisture and relief for itchy skin? I am currently using Veterinarian's Best shampoo and moisturizing mist, but am looking at Bio-Groom, Pet Care Pure Pet, or Tropiclean Oxy Med (available at Petedge.com).

I at first thought it was because I bathed her within 2 weeks of bathing her, and some dog "authorities" such as vets and trainers had told me to bathe her as little as possible (which according to the AKC, with the new high quality shampoos of today, is obsolete advice). Now I'm thinking maybe she got fleas or ticks from the grass (I applied bio flea and tick treatment 2 days ago).

Also, how often do you think I can bathe a puppy of 5 months with high quality products?

I would GREATLY appreciate any veteran advice or opinion, as I am new at toy dogs and don't know who to believe because everyone says something different! I've owned boxers all my life but am enamored with my new Yorkie.

:) I use the Chris Christensen Day to Day shampoo and conditioner as well. I love it, it's really made a difference in Gypsy's coat already. I just posted some pictures of her in the General Forum under "Gypsy modelling new LawDog bows." I highly recommend their products. :)

I've used GroomMax Oatmeal Shampoo on Reagan and it really seemed to keep the itchies down. I got it at Petsmart. Also one of the products I'm using now is Shea butter and I believe its supposed to really work with the itches. Reagan really wasn't itchy when I started using this one so I really can't say if it worked on the itchies for us or not. Also I've pretty much always washed my dog once a week. Sometimes more like 3 times every two weeks but never gone more than a week and a half to two weeks. Reagan would be a big ball of mud if I went any longer.

Thanks for your input! I actually think the spurt of itchiness had to do with the airplane ride and the sudden change in climate from Chicago to L.A., and if not, the flea medication killed off a stray flea I never found. I'm still going to try the oatmeal and Christensen moisturizing products you recommended if the new biogroom stuff I ordered doesn't seem effective.

One "oldie but goodie" shampoo I'd forgotten about but recently started using again is Crown Royal. It keeps the coat very moisturized, and grows hair like crazy.

Any time I have someone with dry skin, I use Biogroom Super Cream (also great for getting out tangles) and it takes care of the dry skin.

I find that if you use the ice on ice for brushing out that they don't get as many tangles and you really only need to brush them a few times per week.

Hey well I usually just pick it up from vendors at shows, but I'll do a search for you and see if I can find it anywhere else. It is VERY concentrated, 15:1 and one bottle is about $9.00, so very worth the price!

Found it... I've never bought from this site, so have no idea how their customer service is.. but this is the shampoo I use. They also have it for fine textured coat, but I like this formula better.

Great, let me know how you like it, and remember, a little bit goes a long way, it lathers like crazy! :) Smells awesome too, and the smell lasts for days.
