What do you think about dog strollers?? Hi everyone, I would like to know what do you think about dogs in strollers? We have just added 2 little yorkies to our family and I was thinking about getting a stroller for them, mostly to take them to places where they normally wouldn't be allowed if not restrained and we also go camping a lot and go hiking, so I thought that if we had a stroller we could take them for long walks with us and if they got too tired we would put them in the stroller, but I don't want to look stupid or be judged for it :(. So what do you really think?? Thank you. |
I love love love my stroller!! And I don't care what people think about me. Lol. Although DH says I am the talk of the neighborhood. If you get one, I would recommend this one. Guardian Gear Sprinter EXT II Dog Stroller - Sage Green at BaxterBoo. This is the one I have and we love it!! |
Thank you so much for your reply, I love your stroller, that's exactly the type of stroller I'm interested in :). I agree completely with you, people are too judgmental. By the way your girls are beautiful;). |
I love my doggie stroller! It is great for busy places like fairs and festivals where heavy foot traffic means a lil dog could easily get stepped on in a crowd. I also used it after ZoEs spay, so she could be by me, and in could wheel her from room to room, yet keep her confined. I also take it outside in my yard and park it under a tree in summer, and it gives her a comfy haven to rest in. I like my stroller so much, I bought a second one just like it. I keep one in my car, and one at home. |
I don't have photos of my stroller saved on my phone, but here's a link to a thread with photos of strollers. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...strollers.html |
Thank you. Does Zoe's enjoy it? |
I love my stroller and so do my furbutts. I use mine mostly on vacation when we sit outside at restaurants. I roll the stroller right beside me and they enjoy watching the people and being with us. Of course people are drawn to a stroller with cute Yorkies inside and it's a conversation starter too. |

Many people here seem to prefer the strollers with solid bars in the front that hold a pup in. ZoE doesn't like them. She is used to jumping in and out of hers as she pleases (I will tether her in if we are somewhere where I want her to stay in it), so she prefers the kind that fold down full in the front so she can get in and out when she wants. I'll even use the stroller in the house. If I put it in the kitchen she'll come in the kitchen and jump up in it and lay down while I'm cleaning up. Same if I am working at my desk. If I wheel it over next to my desk, she'll chose to nap there as opposed to the sofa. I'm very glad I purchased a stroller. As I said before, I have two. I chose to buy two identical so ZoE would be used to it, and also I was thinking should one or both break later on, the parts are interchangeable. |
I don't have a stroller but I do have a pink Wooflink carrier that I put a pink blanket inside and my Chloe always has a pink outfit on AND a pink bow in it. Some people look at me like I'm crazy.. but who cares! I'm sure there will be people who will point fingers but there's always going to be those type of people. If people carry their baby in a stroller.. you can carry your doggies. If you really want a stroller, just get one.. don't worry about people! |
Oh, I bet Chloe looks so cute in her pink outfits!:) Thank you so much for your reply, I'm glad I asked, I'm feeling more and more confident on getting one. Like you said, people will probably stare but who cares right?;). |
Thank you!:) |

Thank you! I was hoping to hear from someone who had the pet gear nv. So you don't like it so much huh?:) |
I love my stroller. I use it quite often. However I recently went to a birthday party were I was called boujee. Not knowing what it meant I just laughed it off till I found out what it meant. LoL I was quite offended. I so need to get with the times. I take Leiloni everywhere and if she's not in her carrier she's in her stroller. Just this past weekend we had a baby shower for my daughter and I didn't want to lock her away in a room I placed her in her stroller to keep her out from underfoot. |

1 Attachment(s) We love our stroller! It's a lot easier to handle 2 yorkies especially when they get tired. One has tiny little legs and the other has arthritis and walks a little slow at times. I also like that I can zip them in and keep them safe from other dogs if needed. Attachment 402602 |
I think it depends on your pup's disposition. If out hiking, my pup would be VERY upset if I restrained him in a stroller. He is little, but handles a mountain climb, or a hike on a snowy Grand Canyon like a total champ. The only thing I use is a carrier purse for planes, or extremely stressful situations when he needs a place to hide. (He has anxiety around people) |
Oh how I want a doggie stroller! I think we would have to go somewhere first :D we are so very boring. We live rurally as well, up a gravel road and my feeling about that eb and flow with the tides of my personality but tonight (like when Sally had delicious food deliver to her front door...ooh the jealousy ;) ) tonight I imagine a lovely stroll on the sidewalk protecting my pup from big stomping human feet along a street lamp lit row and dining with them parked nearby on a warm summer night at an outside table?!? Ah. My indulgent imagination is piqued indeed! :) good luck with your stroller search- I thought the Baxter boo one looked fabulous! |
3 Attachment(s) Got our stroller a few days ago. Bought it especially for the Pet expo in Atlanta next weekend. |
![]() Very reasonably priced! Was easy to assemble-just put the wheels and the front foot rest on. The only problem I had with the assembly was that Huey grabbed one of the little plastic "hubcaps" and chewed it all wonky before I could put it on the wheel. I was able to straighten it out & make it fit, though. The stroller seems to be quite sturdy, too. Huey has a basket-type car seat that he loves, so this isn't much different from that to him. |

What does the term mean!!! I need to know in case it ever comes my way...lol I've never used a stroller or a carrier but I've always envied everyone else who does... Who cares what people think! Do what you makes you and your dog happy! |
My Shelby didn't love to walk, so I carried her in a frontpack until I learned she was allergic to bees. I love to walk so a stroller was the answer. It was perfect, kept her safe and me in shape ;) Ali likes to walk so we don't use the stroller much now but I am glad we have it for hot days and walks that are too long for her little legs. We have the pet gear all terrain, even works well on dirt and grass. |
