Christensen Customer Service.....

STINKS!!!!

Seriously, I've been using the Chris Christensen Day-to-Day Moisturizing Shampoo and Day-To-Day Moisturizing Conditioner for a long time, recommended it to others, countless times over. This last bottle, apparently, the oatmeal was separated, and my Yorkies were getting increasingly drier, and began to mat terribly.

Stupid me, searching for the reason, never considered the shampoo, as it was not something new in their regime.

Last week, I just happened to glance at the bottle of shampoo on the counter, and and 'thought' it looked darker in color.

OK, so yesterday I e-mailed them and explained the problem, and was told that the oatmeal had separated from the shampoo, and that the shampoo needs to be shaken.

I replied that nowhere on the bottle does it state that it needs to be shaken, and I've gone through a number of bottles of this shampoo, never shook one of them, and never encountered a problem.

They replied that I was right, they need to put that on their label and plan to do so, but in the meantime, suggested I use their clarifying shampoo. I don't THINK so.

Not so much as an offer to replace the shampoo. Obviously, business is good, and they don't need mine.

Anyway, be sure to shake your bottles....ME? I'm tossing mine and moving on...... ;)

Lucky's Mom 12-15-2005 11:17 AM

Oh, wow! I just ordered some cause I've heard so many good things about it! I hope mine works out ok! So sorry about yours though!

WOW...thank you for letting us know !Their business does NOT have to stay good !

Yorkieville200 12-15-2005 11:31 AM

Hi, Lucky's Mom, just be sure to shake your shampoo, I'm sure it will be fine. If you notice any unusual dryness, I would suggest you not use it again. My girls skin and coats are really dried out, and normally, they have lovely long beautiful coats. Frankly, I'd have given them a second chance, if only they had cared enough to offer.

Hi, Stormy...I agree, they're business will not stay good, if they don't improve their customer service. They've certainly lost mine, and that doesn't just include my Yorkies, but also dogs that I groom, for others.

rrosenberry 12-15-2005 11:33 AM

Ya know, I noticed that, It really needs shaken, alot. I even looked on the bottle cause I thought.. They should put that on there,,, and they don't.
It seperates big time,, I noticed cause it wasn't smelling like it had,, then it didn't look like it had,, then I noticed it was seperated, I shake it now everytime before the bath.. its fine now..

Yorkieville200 12-15-2005 02:22 PM

Hi, Rhonda. Interesting that I'm not the only one to notice a change. I suspect, they have changed the formula a bit. (Although, they say, not.) I'm glad yours is OK now. I think I used all the oatmeal before I wised up. :( I guess I just never suspected the shampoo was the problem, because it had been so great, for so long.

It sounds like someone is getting too big for their britches - or should I take the R out of the word ? :D

I noticed the 2nd bottle of Ice on Ice didn't work as well as the first.

Too bad a company gets too big and loses the respect of the very people who got them there.

Yorkieville200 12-15-2005 03:04 PM

Yes, indeed, I think removing the R from their britches is a good idea. I DO like the way you think. :D

Do you think they just are not smart enough to realize 'word of mouth' is everything? :) Perhaps they don't know that people 'talk'. I just feel bad now, for all the people I've met and recommended they use their product. (Probably have a lot of people upset with me.)

I also feel like a pretty bad Yorkie Mom, not savvy enough to catch on to the fact that the shampoo was the culprit. Shame on me, I've had Yorkies for over 26 years. My girls are packin'.... :(

PlatinumYorkies 12-15-2005 03:10 PM

So, what happen again? I am confused

chachi 12-15-2005 03:20 PM

I am sorry you had trouble with them. I didnt have any problems when I ordered.

Yorkieville200 12-15-2005 05:01 PM

Thanks, Chachi, I hope this is just a fluke for them. Glad you haven't had any problems.

BrookeB67 12-15-2005 05:17 PM

I dont think Chris Systems has gotten to large, the owner is really good about helping you. She did say she will be producing future bottles with the "shake well" (which I agree is not good that it isnt on there) but the consistency of the bottle looks as if it needs to be shaken IMO.

I just spen $80 on brushes and they are the absolute BEST I have ever used!

Well, Brooke, forgive me for saying so, but my experience has not been the case.

"Helpful" would have been an offer to replace the shampoo, that the label did not state to shake. Esp. since I WAS a repeat customer, having gone through several bottles in the past with no problem. Frankly, the fact that she intends to produce bottles in the future with labels that state to "shake well' is of no use to me with this bottle.

Sure if you have a clear bottle, you would realize the shampoo appears to need to be shaken, but I have an opaque bottle.

chewysmom 12-15-2005 08:59 PM

I have used the cc products for some time now and have always been impressed. I even carry them on my site...I used the products even before I owned the site. The products work really well for me and so far I have had no problems. I am going to be contacting Lisa about this issue to see what she has to say. I do have to say that as just a regular customer and as a retailer they have always provided stellar CS and I stand behind this brand of product...Like I said, I sell it on my site and I use it on my dog.

I'm sad to see that less than stellar things are being said about this product that has always had a sterling reputation.

I think its unfortunate your experience hasnt been well, I do agree that she should give you a credit or send you out some new bottles- especially since it was their mistake that the product wasnt used correctly.

I was under the impression that the new bottles werent opaque like the old ones.

I think their conditioner works well, but the best thing I have gotten from them are their brushes. Even if you are going to give the products up (which their are obviously several brands out their) I would give the brushes a try :) Ive never had so much fun brushing lol!

Why replace the bottle, when they told you to shake it well, and that they need to put it on the label, being upset is one thing, bad mouthing CS is another..However, you cannot be mad because they wouldn't send out a free bottle of their product. Also, can I ask you a question, if you have noticed your yorkie has had less of a stellar turnout with this product, why continue to use it, why get a replacement..How come you didn't offer to send them the bottle of shampoo for a refund? JMHO....

good point, I guess it would have been the same thing, huh?

I think that Sheila emailed them after her yorkies hair was damaged, but either way I honestly think Lisa would be more than happy to take care of her- if she would tell her what she wanted her to do. I guess the thing that I cant really understand is assuming that they have grown so large? I dont think thats the case at all (it sounds as if she responded to the email rather quickly). The main part of their business has always been through distributors at dog shows, so that hasnt changed, and they have always given me the best customer service and responded to my questions and concerns very quickly, and also have received my shipments faster than anyone. I use the white-on-white on my Maya maltese, and after having tried several shampoos to help her coat stay white, this is the only one that works consistently.

And I agree- I guess I am probably a little defensive since being a past business owner I realize you can really damage someone's reputation when ultimately this could have been resolved with a little bit more communication. Whether or not their products are what people expect, I know she cares a huge deal about her business and products and is always continuing to try and improve them (when the formula changed she emailed me explaining why). I really think that this could have been resolved without spreading a "bad" word also, and ultimately you are right the customer does need to be satisfied.

chewysmom 12-15-2005 10:19 PM

I agree with Brooke, the customer does need to be satisfied. I may be biased though because I am a retailer of this product. It is very disturbing that you bash it so intently. CC Systems is a huge part of my business and frankly, I am not pleased that these things are being said about a product I stand firmly behind. Many YT members order these products from me and seem to be satisfied. I have already put an email in to the company and have always found their customer service stellar so I expect t hear something tomorrow morning. I will bring up these concerns and try to get some answers.

That is if they are satisfiable, I have had a few times where the customer doesnt tell me what they want me to do, or demands something so unfair. It is important that the small business owners stick together- its tougher than it seems.

Gerry- I know 98% of the people who are buying the CC systems will continue to, It appears as if tons are addicted :)

chewysmom 12-15-2005 10:31 PM

Thanks for the support Brooke! It's tough as a small business owner. I just want to say that I could carry 20 different brands of shampoo on the site. People contact me all the time about their products. I choose to carry CC along with only one other brand. Many people have contacted me to carry other products mentioned on YT and since I don't use them on Chewy and do not know of their effectiveness, I choose to stick with what I know. I want to continue to offer the best, therefore I will continue to offer CC Systems.

I think that is truly respectable and being able to give your opinions on products is priceless to a customer.

I know the best thing about imapreciouspup is that every product is selected and tested for quality. Luckily it is a business that is contacted frequently to be a retailer of several products and part of the value to the customers is that they know every item they purchase a product, it is always the best.

red98vett 12-16-2005 03:33 AM

I think it's great that you guys know them at CC Systems because I've been using them for over a year now & DO love the shampoo & Conditioner. I'll stand by what I said on the Ice - the first bottle I got was outstanding - not so with the 2nd and I wasn't imagining it....

I know how fast they grew.... but if no one contacted them - how would they ever know what needs to be changed or improved ?

I Will continue to use them because I think they have a superior Product Line..... but this thread was helpful for those who use the Oatmeal and didn't know it needed to be shaken.

Which brushes did you order Brooke ? I have a feeling you've tried lots of different ones - these are that good ?

Shanatink 12-16-2005 07:42 AM

I like cc products too and I think any product over time could have the results like your shampoo did. Nail polish or even mascara thickens up over time and I dont expect the company to replace it. Im not trying to start anything, Im just saying. I personally really like CC ice on ice so I stand behind thier products.

lol Villette- Im actually not much of a groomer myself ;) I havent tried too many brushes, bc brushing Rocky's short coat is prety easy (we had some comb and brush from petsmart that we used) and when I grew out Haley's coat I ordered a All Systems #1 pin brush and slicker from MJM when I bought some petsilk t try (which I wasnt crazy about).

Well when I got the pin, I wasnt impressed, it kinda hurt. The slicker worked ok, but it wasnt until the groomer (who now comes to our house to groom them) was using his slicker and it actually BRUSHED maya out, I realized Im either doing something wrong or my brush just sucks.

Maltese's have very difficult coats (BUT very soft :)) so one night I was reading on the maltese forum and it seemed like everyone was trying these brushes and couldnt stop raving. Im not usually one to cave in, but something told me I needed a whole new grooming set. So, I bought my first metal comb http://www.chrissystems.com/combs.htm #006, which I use for their faces and to brush out mats if neccesary.

I bought the 20mm OBLONG pin http://www.chrissystems.com/brushes.htm which I chose on my own, others were recommending the gold series but I also wanted a slicker. I think that the 27 mm are too large- so Im glad I got the 20mm and its amazing. I actually did that "pin" test: It is true!http://www.chrissystems.com/tiptest.htm

and then I got the Mark II slicker http://www.chrissystems.com/slickers.htm which is SO much better than my old slicker- Maya doesnt make noises when I brush her anymore :)

I couldnt say I like one better than the other, but Im overly impressed with the pin brush!

And like I mentioned- that white-on-white and conditioner together sure does the job on Maya! I too have never been overly impressed with the ice on ice, but still use it bc its all I have been able to find.

red98vett 12-16-2005 12:21 PM

WOW Brooke - THAT is a great review & answer !! I have a feeling the brushes I use aren't really getting the job done on Chanel and I'm going to cruise CC site and look - I love hearing how well they work and I know there is different qualities of brushes... but I didn't know it made that big a difference and now I think it does....Thanks so much for the great information...

I wasn't going to bother to answer this post, but I realize, things do need to be explained.

You say I'm mad because they won't send out a FREE bottle? I didn't want a free bottle. I just wanted what I paid for. I've lived well past half a century in this world, I learned long ago, nothing is free.

I'm also a kind, caring compassionate person, I've been doing Wildlife Rehab, at MY own expense for over 30 years.

This was a current bottle of shampoo. Besides my two Yorkies, (who are in full, long coat) I groom a number of Rescues on MY time, at MY expense, so, I went through 1/3 of a bottle, over 5-6 weeks time, before I made the connection that the shampoo was causing the problems. It was explained to me, that I had apparently used all the oatmeal, so, there was none left to blend into the shampoo.

Why get a replacement? Because I have used this shampoo with great results for awhile now, and felt I just had a very poorly mixed bottle.

Why should I have to ask them to replace it? In several e-mails we discussed the problem, good customer service would have been for them to send a replacement. I do know a thing or two about customer service. Before my parents deaths, they owned and operated a very successful business for 40 years, and it was all based on good customer service. They resolved problems without a customer asking.

I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for sharing my experience. I had hoped to spare someone else going through restoring skin and coat. But in all fairness, I have raved about their product in the past, so I feel justified in retracting my reviews.

I'm not saying another word.

I for one am glad you shared your experience. You were obviously giving an unbiased review in your original post that you felt needed to be given to the people on this site who patronage CC. There are tons of unbiased reviews on YorkieTalk and just because others stand behind or sell a product doesn't mean you have to keep quiet about your experience.

I have used CC Systems in the past and decided to stick with Pet Silk as I think their products work better for Stewie's coat.

butterfly 12-16-2005 03:48 PM

I ordered my cc when I first came on this site and was hearing such great reviews on the things. Personally,,,,I love it!

I guess I never read the label. I ALWAYS shake my products so I have never had problems. I noticed it separated, but it works for me.

I really splurged and bought the $$ pricey hand brush that is made in germany. I don't remember the name of it but all it is, is leather with the wonderful rounded tip metal brush. It is so tender on the hair and doesn't pull a bit. Ithink it was like $40. but if I lost it I would definately buy another. It is listed as 'perfect for Yorkie hair' or something like that, and it truely is!! :aimeeyork

Thanks, Kristy. I appreciate it. This bothered me all day, that anyone would think I wanted something for free. That's just not who I am.
