What is the best harness for Yorkies? Wondering if anyone has any advice what the best harness is for a smaller Yorkie. Annie weighs 4.5# and her neck is only 6.5#. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. |

Buddy belt user here and we love them. |
Buddy belt here too!!! :) |
I love the buddy belt because you can wear it over clothes without having to adjust anything complicated. The buckle is easy to use, unlike some of the plastic things that you have to get just right. It’s strong and comfortable, and gets better with age like good leather should. Buddy Belt Dog Harness |

I like the Buddy Belt also the Choke-free. The Buddy Belt has lots of metal hardware, whereas the Choke-free does not. With longer coats I tend to prefer the Choke-free, if no long coat, either one works about the same for me. Chattiesmom on YT makes silk step-in harnesses I've heard others rave about. |
I like Buddy Belt and Puppia the best. :) |
Is you dog full grown? I understand that many like the buddy belt and i can understand why but if your dog is not full grown you may want to wait until your dog is full size before you invest in a buddy belt. I have used the Puppia Step vest harness while mine was growing. It has adjusted to her as she grew. The measurements for the buddy belt are a bit more exact. I guess if your pup out grew it you could try to sell it. It was a financial decision for me and the Puppia worked well for me. |
Well, Annie is 8 months now. Do you think she will be growning much or should we expect her to stay about the same. I am having a hard time deciding what size. She weighs 4.5# has 11-1/2chest. Any suggestions, I take her to work daily with me and need something that she will be comfortable in. She does wear clothes so wondering if the 3 would be too bulky or 2 too small. BTW she is spayed if that makes a difference. Thanks again for all your help. |
I would wait. Kaji had a growth spurt between 12-18 months. He didn't get his buddy belt until his third birthday. Meanwhile, we were using cloth ones, similar to the pippia harnesses, but the ones sold at Petco. I liked those because they didn't chafe my crazy puller, but the fit was always off. I'm much happier with my buddy belt, it fits like a glove. :) |
