Another one for the buddy belt!
 
I know in my previous post I said I wouldn't get one because my husband didn't want it. But I talked him into it, and needless to say Gizmo is now sporting one! First we got the wrong size. I was stupid, and didn't look at the tag on it that indicated weight. So, we ended up with a 3. Anywho, Gizmo loves it! He doesn't scratch at it like he did with his old harness. I try to take it off of him, but he runs away and just frolics around the house with it on still. I love that it's leather, but it's softer so it won't irritate the skin in his little arm pits :p.

He seems to walk better on a leash as well. And with that being said, I love that it's adjustable enough that I can just throw it on over a hoodie or shirt!

We're going out Christmas shopping for "Daddy" tonight :rolleyes: So I'm going to try to see if I can get a picture of him with Santa with his new Christmas present (the buddy belt) on! :p

:thumbup::thumbup: We love the Buddy Belts. Teddy wears Max's old one and it is closing in on 3 years old. It takes a lot of abuse and still looks almost brand new.

Love our BB, too! We also did not get the right sizing at first and I wasn't happy with it. But now I just love it!

I'm glad you got the buddy belt and love it! We have two and I absolutely love them and could not imagine using any other harness.

I'm a fan too, I first saw one on Ann's little Marcel, and he looked so cute in it, I guess I loved the leather and the stainless steel together, reminds me of Marlon Brando’s motorcycle jacket! :D I've had one for Joey for about 5 years and it's gotten better with age, and just got another one for my little foster, who has had trachea problems and this doesn't come close to his throat, so one less worry! My last one came from Muttropolis and they have great service and you can google discounts.

Way back when, I had ordered a Buddy Belt for Zhoie and I didn't like how wide the leather was and how stiff. Maybe I got a generic one or somehting. How wide are yours and does anyone know if they come more narrow?

After all the praise, I'm dying to try one again. Which ones are the softest leathers and where to order the real ones from please:confused:

Sunny loves hers!! Honestly we very rarely take it off. It fits perfectly, room to grow, and has become pliable with time.....she doen't mind it one bit. We even put her bell on it. That way when she goes outside to potty, she has full access to backyard when someone is present, her Buddy belt is on and we hear her jingle jingle in the darker area, that the spot light may not shine on. Buddy belts rock! Easiest thing she wears, that neither she nor I stress out with trying to get it on.

Five years ago, I bought a plain black one, and just recently bought another plain black one. The new one isn't as soft as the old one, it's not supper stiff, but it's not buttery soft either. So I don't know if it just takes time, kind of like a baseball glove or they are making them differently. I have read that the painted leathers and the black crocodile and patent leather are much stiffer.

Tena I have the black for Bogie and the light pink for Jada...Jada's pink one was a tad softer than Bogie's when new, but they soften more as they are used. What color did you get Zhoie when you ordered hers?

I agree, they soften with use. Size makes a difference too. Max's size 3 was buttery soft from the start. The size 4's required a little time to break in and mold to the body.

I ordered the 5 and 6 for Jackson... both fit, but the 6 was too big and the 5 is a bit smaller but I went with the 5... the 6 was just too bulky but the only thing about the 5 is it won't fit over really thick jackets unless I make another hole, which I considered getting someone to do. Right now he wears the size 5 on the biggest hole or the second to biggest hole. The 6, it had to be on the tightest hole to fit and it caused some bulkiness where the d-ring and the buckle went, it was odd. So anyways, that's why I went with the 5. I actually initially returned both and am glad I decided to give it another go a few months later.

Oddly enough, our size 6 was a much softer leather than the size 5. Unsure why exactly but it was. I still don't think it seems like it's the most comfortable thing in the world to be honest. I wouldn't leave it on him all day, like I would his Puppia.

My boys are just the opposite -- they will hang out in their Buddy Belts all day, but anything material, they want off right away. They will nap in the BBs, especially Max. I offer to take it off of him and he will walk away and lie down in his bed with it on.

Brit I'm kind of curious why you wouldn't leave it on all day, does it not fit right, or does it seem heavy? I haven't seen the larger sizes, but this just seems so light and fits so well on both of mine.

Hmmm, Zhoie was really young, I don't recall the color but I do remember it was shiny. Maybe I will try the light pink then.

Nancy, which ones do think are considered the painted leathers, any of the colored one?

Zhoie's chest is 12", when I look at the chart size 2 goes to 12". Should I order the size 3? Not how if a 2 has a couple more holes or if you go up a size. :rolleyes:

I think it was on the website that sells buddy belts and it was their "special colors" not their regular tan, black and red. I just tried to find it, but now it says, "Not only is our leather durable, it softens and molds to the body for a custom fit", Buddy Belt Harness Special Colors. Anyway, maybe that's not where I saw it, and someone said that the pink was really soft, so I don't know. :p

No, it fits right... I dunno, it just seems like leather wouldn't be the most comfy thing. I know I wouldn't want leather, no matter how soft, under my armpits all day, LOL. I dunno, it's probably me more than him. He doesn't SEEM to mind it. But I guess when you are used to the Puppia which is mesh and very flexible, the BB just doesn't seem like it'd be a comfortable thing to have on all day around the house. It's not super stiff or anything, and not super heavy, but I dunno... I don't really leave any harness on him all day unless necessary. lol.

Lol, the way you describe it, it doesn't sound too comfortable. Maybe you just need more hair in the region? :p Leather is all natural and unlike synthetics it breathes, so it's more comfortable than you think. Latex on the other hand . . . :D

Tena this is the one I have for Jada and Susan at Wetnose helped me out with sizing. Jada had to have the 3.5 Buddy Belt Classic Color Harnesses

I have always used their 4' nylon leashes with the leather handle and I love them. Very easy to hold onto. I like that the loop stays open unlike a plain nylon leash, if that makes sense.

We are going to order our Buddy Belts tonight! I am excited, but undecided on the colors so far... I love shopping for the pups :D
