Very Very Important since we all have little ones i thought i share what happen today its not huge but it could have been ! this morning kaykos mouth got stuck in between the gate door of his cage its hard to explain he was screaming from the top of his lungs the reason i am telling everyone this is cause it has happen once before and i told the vet and he said to be very carefull cause he can break his jaw hes fine now its like nothing happen but its very scary now on baby cribs the slats have to be a certain width so the babys head cant fit shouldnt it be the same for dog cages especially since there so little all he was doing was chewing on the cage like any teething puppy we are very scared to put him back in hes been out since early this morning we dont know what to do if anyone has any suggestions or a better cage or something i dont know please respond |
I have a kennel that looks just like that made by PetMate (I Think). My baby had his leg caught where the latches are to lock it and he was screaming like crazy, I was so afraid he was going to break his leg trying to free himself before I could help him. It is scary but what are our options? |
Thanks for posting this warning!! I have the very same cage. |
i have a baby gate up in my hallway and nala got her nose stuck in it one night and it scared me half to death i don't think it hurt her as much as it scared her |
THe crate I have is really made for cats or small dogs. It's also a travel crate. Petco for around $30.00. The wire is much to close together to get teeth around it. (I Hope). |
Cairos had her lower jaw wedged into one of the holes in her crate door. Scared the jeepers out of both of us. I think she learned never to do that again, but I always to make sure to remove the door when it is on the floor for her. |
i found the answer i started looking for cages and i found one im gonna order it heres the link http://radiofence.com/dog_crates_plastic.htm |

so scary ....Thanx for warning. |
Here is what I use for mine. I love them, and no problems with getting caught. http://www.angelfire.com/in4/afforda...ackcrates.html You can get single ones, but I have 6 that sleep in crates so I have stackables. I also have them in my motor home for when we go to shows. |
That is really scary, and nothing I've ever thought about. - browniesmom, I love the first kennel you showed on the site. That looks like a winner. Maybe there should be a thread on sYorkie Safety, and exactly items like these can be posted. And when people come to this thread, they can read all about it. |
ok i went to petsmart and they didnt have it so were are ordering it online im getting this one ill take pics of him in it when i get it :D http://www.petsmart.com/global/prod...D=1109872324809 yorkie safety section really good idea !im gonna look into that one :D |
MMYorkie How much is a single cage? I like those. How big are they. I wrote down the email addy so I can get some information on the cages, thanks for sharing. |
Not sure what the single's cost, I have always bought 2 or 3 packs at a time. You can email the guy that makes them and ask. He can make them any size you want, but I think that he does have a standard size he sells. I like them because the plastic pipes they are made of are to big for the yorkies to get their mouths around, and the poles are placed too close together for them to put their heads through, even a puppy. |
 THANKS FOR THE INFO, IT DOES SOUND SCARY,ITS SO EASY FOR OUR TINY BABIES TO GET HURT, I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HEAD'S UP |
