Choke-Free Harness (I ended up with it afterall). A while back, in the search for a perfect harness, I ordered the leather Choke-Free harness. I think the size was just too small and I ended up returning it and never re-ordering. Kept hearing good things about the Buddy Belt... loved it but did not work for us due to sizing issues and a few other little things. Returned it. Had just been sticking with our old nylon harness and Puppia's like always but decided to order the leather Choke-Free one more time in the size up since we are going away this weekend and figured I'd try something new, lol. Plus, I'm a collar/harness addict, as most of you know ;) Anyways, it just came in the mail today and it seems to fit Jackson pretty well! And it's really light (seems a lot less lightweight than the Buddy Belt) and I like that  plus it seems pretty comfortable, the inside lining of it is pretty soft. I don't know why I returned the other one so quickly, I guess it just seemed uncomfortable and tight, so the one size up definitely helps. But anyways, I'll use it this weekend when I am away on vacation w/ Jax and let you know how I like it. I know a few others on YT use this harness. PS - I found it on ebay for cheaper! I have one of these also for Macy. I love it since it is so light but her armpits seem to mat up when she wears this one. Have a nice 4th. |

Sugar has been using this harness in brown for 2.5 years ~ I just wanted the pink ;) |

I love this harness, but it works best w/short hair. The sizing is a little tricky, you need to add 1" for the best fit. |
Oh, I have this one for Zhoie and I absolutely LOVE it. With her small frame and especially small chest/shoulder area, it works the very best for her. |
Brit, please reassure that studly Jackson is NOT wearing that bright red bow! |
LOL!!! No- no red bow for us. He's got the black one. We are loving it. Used it all weekend in Gettysburg. It did not seem to ever bother him, and I think it looked pretty snazzy. I definitely feel the Buddy Belt is better quality, when it comes to the leather, etc, the Choke-Free feels "cheaper" in a way? I don't know how to explain it... but I am liking it so far!! |
Choke Free Hi Brit, Yes the Choke Free is a nice harness. I was the one that said I liked them but they were not cheap. I take the harness off the 3 younger "Z's" at night to give their fur/coat a break and for a brushing. Bob |

I don't leave it on him all day anyways, I always just take his harness off when he's not using it. I take his collar off at night, too, hehe. I am always worried about him being comfortable. :p |
You take really great pictures of Jackson and his backgrounds. Of course, it is he that makes the pictures great!:) I'm going to order one of these harnesses tomorrow. |

I like it! I'd probably go with pink for Nilla. I've never measured her for a harness ... I have a feeling she's going to be a chunky monkey. She's 3 lbs now ... Wonder if I'm giving her too much Fortical / food ... -facepalm- What size does Jackson wear? |

This is the best harness I have found for Zhoie, because it rides back further on her small chest and small shoulders. We have the shiny pink one, of course ;) I also like the overlapping velco at to contact and the fact the d-ring goes through that, so there is no way if can come unhooked. |

I just ordered once - purple metallic no less - for Cali, but I am nervous about the fit. I e-mailed them but the answer was not very definitive. I'll know more about the fit when I get it. She has long hair and most harnesses have been a bit of a problem with matting where the harness rubbed on the hair when she walked/ran. We will see. |
I have a 17 inch metallic blue leather harness( like Brit has) that I want to sell. I ordered it for Sammy but I should have ordered 18. brand new.. no tags I will post pictures later .. say $15.00? Shinja |
Brit, did you buy the Paw Rider too? I was looking at these and I wonder if anyone has used them: ChokeFree PAW RIDER PET SEATBELT ADAPTER PawRider Pet Seat Belt Adapter |

I have two of the leather Choke-free harnesses for Roxie - pink with little paws and metallic aqua with little flowers. I love them, and they've stretched and softened the more she's worn them. The first one I ordered directly from their web site, but then I found a local specialty pet store that is a distributor of Choke-free products. It was a few bucks cheaper at the store. I also got the seat belt adapter and it's great. Roxie actually prefers to ride in SO's car with the adapter, than in my car with the car seat. She seems much more relaxed with the adapter. I also picked that up in the same pet store. |
I saw one of these a while ago when I was looking for choke free harnesses....it wasn't as fancy as these are! I kept the picture of it and am going to try to make one....However...seeing these and the pretty colors I just may buy them instead! I didn't see pricing though...did I miss it somewhere? Are they expensive? |
I ordered the first one from sassypup.net and it was $36.99 + tax and shipping. The second one I purchased at USA Dog & Pet Shop in Palisades. It was around $26 and the seat belt adapter was $29. If you check the Choke-free site, they do list other licensed retailers if you don't want to order online. Maybe there is one near you. The leather harness was snug the first few times I put it on Roxie, but it did loosen up significantly the more she wore it. |
suggestions on size? on size for a new puppy? He's currently charting at 19oz @ 7 weeks. Would like to get one before we pick him up a little over a month from now. I can't wait :D |
Good afternoon! :) I'm in the UK, and was weighing up the Buddy Belt v Choke Free for quite a while - we can't get them over here, or anything really like them! With the brilliant help of sugarmama (thank you again!!) I decided on the Choke Free - and we've never looked back. Ended up having it shipped over from Freida's Boutique in Florida - Dee there was so helpful including explaining exactly how to measure etc. (returns would be tricky!!!). The only problem I had was choosing the colour - but that was kind of decided for me as my husband said he'd only walk him in the black one!!! :D However, I can feel a few sneaky baby blue/purple ones coming on (well, it's nearly his birthday, Christmas, Easter etc.......!!! ;)) Sally + Harry x |

Good morning! I thought it would be a problem too - and England's a long way for a quick pop-in to check!! :) However, online, Dee at Freidas Boutique talked me through the process and the measuring etc (just behind the shoulders, round the girth, in inches, keep it snug, add an inch etc.) she was marvellous. And it really worked - as does the Choke Free!! Hope you manage to sort it out ok! Sally + Harry x |
I have the Buddy Belt for my girls and they even have the liners for the long hair dogs that can mat easily. Buddy Belts, Buddy Belt Harness - FunnyFur.com and when I put their sweaters or jackets on them, then I don't need the liners. Also this is what I have to attach them in the car. It's quick and easy to change them around and works in the bike basket. Pet Auto Safety Restraint Strap - black |
