love minksheen! I love the smell to ... it says conditioners included but I would like to.use after conditioners also ... what do you recommend? |
I have to use a conditioner as well. I am using Pet Silk. |
I'm growing ZoE's hair out, so I use an extra conditioner too to minimize breakage. I've not found a good dog conditioner I like, so I've been using either Nexxus Humectress or Pantene Fine Fragile to Strong. I actually think I prefer the Pantene....Humectress is not the same consistency as it was years ago and doesn't seem to work as well on my pup or myself! |
We have minksheen and I tried it for the first time and LOVE IT!!!! Even bf says it was great! The only thing is...it's REALLY expensive. It will last long though! :D I totally recommend this shampoo! |

Where did you purchase from? I didn't think mine was that bad. I purchased from Amazon. |
I just wanted to mention that I found out last week that they do use products from minks to make this oil :(. I previously thought (and don't know why) that the name 'Mink Sheen' was named that bc the sheen it produced was similar to that of the mink. I hope no one takes this info the wrong way, but just thought I'd mention it since many people here do like to be aware of this info :) |

They kill the minks to make it? Oh no. I really like it too. :( |
I bought it off Amazon...plus shipping is was $22!! They kill Minks to make this shampoo??? Well, then I really need to find another shampoo!! I think I will try |

I have this shampoo. Got it from Jenny at toplinepet.com. She has a special on it where you can get the shampoo, conditoner, spray, and treats for $30. Don't know if she still has the special going on or not. |
Oh no! I had no idea :( |
Bummer! Seems like all Mink Oil is obtained by killing minks. Did find out that Iv San Bernard does not test products on animals:) |

(This isn't in response to you) but I find it highly hypocritical that many people that balk at using products like minksheen, that has a very small amount of mink oil, have no problem recommending leather furniture for people with dogs, drive cars with leather interiors, have some mightly nice shoes & purses and have no problem cheering on America's favorite pastime. A 100lbs of raw leather absorbs over 20lbs of mink oil....that's a heckuva lot of minks. |

Wow, to be honest I had no idea! I think there is more of this than any of us realize! :( Kinda sad isn't it. |
I love Minksheen too! I normally do not have to use an after-conditioner. But occasionally their hair seems dryer than it should be and I use Espress Luxury Remoisturizer. It is the best stuff! Espree has several other conditioners that are great too -- this is just my favorite. |
:( they kill the minks..... Just for shampoo... Smh. I guess someone should recommend another shampoo that works just as well.... Or even better. |
I like CC day to day shampoo, been using it for yrs |

As for being hypocritical, this is not how I see it at all. There are a lot of people on this board (and in the world, for that matter) who appreciate being aware of animal products bc they may be somewhere along the path of trying to make a few different choices. And I admire them for this! If someone sees this Mink Sheen info, and then chooses not to use it - that is a positive step and sends a positive message in many different directions, no matter how small. ANY positive step is important, rather than saying 'take no step at all bc it really doesn't matter'. It does matter. Every wave of change starts with a ripple. |

I'd stated, "They kill minks to process just about all forms of leather too. So, leather shoes, furniture, car interior, baseball mitts & various other sports equipment, luggage, purses and a bazillion other accessories." |

I understand where you're coming from regarding those products above, but there are easy ways to avoid them - for anyone who has an interest in that. And if not, that's cool too. Btw, I notice you're from England. I'm a complete Anglophile. I think I know way more about England's history than my own country's history, by far. Right now I'm studying the War of the Roses and also the Regency period. Love it!! |

I dilute mine too. I am still using my sample size that I purchased from Jenny at toplinepet.com. Gosh, I don't even know how long ago that was. I think I have had three or four orders since then! I didn't think the price was that bad. It is $10 to $12 for shampoo at Petco. |
