Louie tends to have an issue with the sausage look in most XS, yet S is enourmous on him! He has a super long muscular body and weighs in at 7.9 lbs in comparison to my moms 3.13 lb Leo:eek: |
Good idea...I'll put in another order for an XS just in case the S is too big, which it sounds like it will be. Thanks so much for your informative input  |
I just ordered one for our Lab/Shepard mix who has separation anxiety. I'm hoping it works for him. |
Gosh, I should have ordered them wholesale before posting:rolleyes: I hope everyone comes back and updates their experiences. I'm still so amazed by this silly little shirt. |
I think I've posted at least part of my review but I have to tell you the latest. I got Beemer the thundershirt to help him overcome his fear of our trianing facility. He has made more progress in the three weeks since we got it than the five months since the incident. The amazing thing was really last week though. I live in North Alabama. We had a very rough day last week. It started at 4:30 in the morning on the 27th. That was the beginning of the tornado warnings where we live. I had Beemer's shirt and put it on him. He curled up and fell asleep. Sadie was pacing and barking. I took the shirt off of Beemer and put it on Sadie. She immediately curled up and went back to sleep. Beemer started pacing and shaking. We were blown away. Whichever dog had on the shirt was totally comfortable. My husband said that we should be in a commercial! We had a break in the weather (or so I thought) so I went to work for a while. I made some phone calls and found another shirt locally. I bought it between storms on my way home from work - ironically a tornado warning hit while I was on the way home. With both dogs in their shirts they were as calm as could be throughout the unbelievable night we had. There were multiple warnings, huge storms, hail and no power. My husband and I decided we want a shirt for us!!! I can't tell you how much I believe in these little shirts. Oh - and Beemer weighs just shy of four pounds and Sadie is 5 1/2 and the XXS fits both of them perfect. I would have posted sooner but power just came back late last night so the only YT access I've had is my phone. |

I meant to also post an update. Cooper is scared of the lawnmowever. But, not with his thundershirt!:D |
I want mine so bad!!!! We are having storms later tonight, and we had one the night before last that wasn't too bad, but Chase was shaking soooo bad. It seems to get worse every time, and takes him longer to recover after the storms :( I got am email yesterday, and the store that I ordered it from is trying to track one down for me. I guess Thundershirt is really overwhelmed with all the orders, and they won't be sending mine out until early June. I hope she is able to find one somewhere else! |

I'm going to wait until June to place our order for the Thundershirt. We are going away July 1-4 in Gettysburg for 4th of July so I want to order it close enough to that date where it's still possible to return it IF it doesn't work. I'm thinking it will, but just want to be sure of course. :) Fireworks REALLY stressed him out last year. I wish I could order it ahead of time but I don't really know anywhere where fireworks will be going off until then... lol. So I really have no way of testing it. |
It works! Okay I must admit, I had my doubts, but now I believe this thing does make a difference. We had boomers (t-storms) two nights in a row. While Sydney still went under the bed, she didn't shake and pace like she normally did. She also didn't sweat the small rumbles, as she normally would have in the past. The house-rattling ones still got her under the bed, though. I also give her treats when it thunders, which helps. Sydney is just under 7 lbs. I ordered her the xxs and it's perfect. I ordered through Amazon, got free Prime 2-day shipping and it actually came the next day. I recommend it. It's worth a try. |

That's great! Now Cooper can help cut the grass for his treat allowance. The kids have to help out with household chores :D So here's my update~two nights in a row we have small boomers and lightening. The air conditioning was on so that always helped but this time he didn't get nervous at all. Time will tell when we have a storm and the windows are all open. :) |

I want to order a thundershirt for Maddie and Libby. They aren't afraid of thunder, but get so stressed out when taking out of town trips in the car. Maddie has a 13.5" chest and Libby is 13, and they are both 12" long. I am thinking the X-small for both of them, but thought I'd get opinions before ordering. Thanks so much for your help! |
Connie, how much do they weigh? 13" is at the low end of xs and I wonder if it might be too big. They need to fit very snug. Cooper has about a 17" chest and even though size small could accommodate that it was much too big. |
3 Attachment(s) It's here!!!! I wish I would have gotten it yesterday, we had bad storms from 8pm until after midnight! Not sure when it'll storm again, but so happy to have it. The xsmall fits great, with room to spare too :) Here are some pics of Chase in his new shirt! |
Chase looks adorable! Remind me again -- how big is Chase? |

I bought the Thunder Shirt from a local store last night. For me, it is a miracle shirt. We put the shirt on Buster in the store and he was immediately calm. He was like a normal dog, sat in my arms, while I walked around the store. The best part? was when we got in the car to go home. He did not lick the inside of the car, he did not pant, he did not yelp, he did not try to run around the car like a wild man. I could not believe it. He was still calm after we got home and I took the shirt off. I took him in the car again today, same thing. He looked out the window for a while, then went to sleep. No panting, no licking, no spazing. He has been taking Anxitane for about eight months with little success. The vet said my other option would be Amitriptlyne, I said no thanks. He is still a spaz at home, barks and yips at the vaccum, broom, almost anything, but maybe that will get better. He has only worn the shirt two times and both times were in the car. He is still recuperating from knee surgery, so he was in the stroller this morning while the three girls walked and he didnt seem to mind. He wasn't panting, trying to jump out, etc. He is not bothered by fireworks, thunder or loud noise so I did not know if the shirt would work for him. All I can say is, Unbelieveable. |
I bought the xxsmall for Buster. He is 5 lbs and his girth is 12". |
Okay, I did it...I ordered the thundershirt for Winston. I can't wait to see if it helps him endure a storm. Time will tell, I have heard about this shirt in the past but I've been so skeptical, but you all have had pretty good luck with it and decided it was worth a try. I'm hoping for the best, fingers crossed. |

Roxie has a 13.5" chest and weighs around 7 lbs. She has just turned 1 year old (should she be done growing?). I am torn between ordering the xxs and xs too. Any suggestions? |

Buster is 5 lbs with a 12" girth. Maggie is about 7 lbs with a 13.5" girth. I think the xxsmall is too small for her. BUT, don\'t go on what I say. She is very short and stocky. Test 3, with the Thunder Shirt. We went to PetsMart this evening about an hour before they closed, Buster was a perfect angel. When he walked he did not pull, when an adult wanted to pet him, he let them pet him. He usually walks up to them then jumps back like he was shot. He was not stressed on the way there or on the way back in the car, no licking, no panting, no pacing. I think it was money well spent for us. |
