Flea Treats Just want to start a post about these "supposedly" marvelous creations. It's a vitamin developed to help prevent parasites like fleas, ticks, and other creatures from wanting to eat your pet. I say supposedly because today is day 1 off trying them out, I'll try to keep this updated as the season warms up, but with me being in Naples, I'm about a week shy of Spring. Although, flea season is year round here (horray for tropical climates :rolleyes:) and the fleas usually wreak havoc on my poor kitty instead of Rizzo but I'm doing all I can this year to prevent any insect issues. So day one: Fatso (cat) the picky eater gobbled his vitamin down and begged for more Rizzo (yorkie) will eat anything and I'm pretty sure didn't even chew this pill :rolleyes: So at least it seems to be scrumptious to the little furries. I guess I'll see how it works throughout the season. If nothing else they promise to give your pet a beautiful coat and help prevent shedding (yay, less cat hair, lol) So now I have both a topical and oral preventative for the kitty, and so far only the oral preventative for Rizzo (I pick up the frontline for him at our annual appointment coming up) On top of all that I'm going to be putting down some D/Earth, food grade. Supposed to murderize any insect that has the gall to walk through it. It's safe enough to eat (even has instructions for adding it to your pets food) so sprinkling around doorways and under furniture is perfectly safe. I've also read it helps kill bed bugs and cockroaches if anyone has a problem with those. If anyone has any suggestions for further flea/pest control please let me know. I prefer organic, safe for ingestion items so of course I'm trying to find something that can supplement the frontline (which I have reservations of its ability to work on the kitty). B vitamin complex can also be bought in vitamin stores. All you need to do is break it down to the dogs weight. Easy, and cheaper. ;) |

As of Day 5 - Rizzo - dry skin has improved, never really had too much of an issue with fleas and considering this is the only thing I'm using with him so far so good. Fatso - Fur quality has improved, he is noticeably softer, and the rash that he gets when bitten by fleas has healed much faster than I've ever seen it heal. Though the fur softness may be because he is spending more time grooming rather than scratching, but I'm wanting the flea treats to work, so I'm staying positive. So, for now, it has improved overall skin health, but that could just be the b-vitamin complex in the treat. Who knows? I'll keep you all updated as the season progresses. T-minus 2 months until the fleas get out of control! Lets hope this stuff works for me. |
We've been using Flea Treats since September in So. Cal. and have not had any sign of fleas so far. Plus, they love them. We also saw some coat improvement and less itching and dry skin. We also use Solid Gold seameal in their food everyday and have tried adding diatomaceous earth to their food. We stopped the diatomaceous earth for a while so that we weren't adding too many new things at once but will probably add it back in again. We quit the monthly prevention pill because they would both get diarrhea for a day or so after we gave it every month. |

I'm interested in the treats...I'll be following this thread for sure! Thanks for sharing this! I'd not use D/Earth though I use this, for everything Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar - The Top 6 I have dogs with reflux issues too though and ACV cures it. |
I've tried to put the acv in their drinking water, both dog and cat turn their noses up to it :( I was really hopeful, it seems like such great stuff. |

I used the Flea Treats for some time a couple of years ago and saw no benefit from them. I've since started just treating my yard and that works best for me. I've tried the ACV and can't get mine to drink the water with it in it. Thinking about getting some ACV tablets from the vitamin store and using that. Has anyone else gone that route? |
Just wondering how the flee treats are working for you now that summer is here... We still have not seen any sign of flees since we've been using the flee treat but our pups do go through phases of very itchy dry skin, especially when the weather is very dry. |
Wondering how it's going also. I use the DE for my chickens. It's keeps them parasite free and very healthy. They also drink the ACV with their water. They're not picky about the taste of anything. lol |
