We love our Buddy Belts! |
Any suggestions for a person that is anti-leather? I'm not really anti-leather, just not a very big fan. The kind I'm using now is a vest type from Petco. It is honestly ugly, but it keeps him safe and is completely washable. I think it does a good job of dispersing the energy of a tug, instead of centralizing it like the skinny harnesses do. I want something that is washable, safe, and if at all possible non-irritating for my little man. Is that too much to ask? :p |

I hear ya! I love the IDEA of leather... but anytime I get something leather for Jackson, I end up not putting it on him. It never seems comfortable enough for him. I think I'm so used to the Puppia's which are super comfy, at least they seem like it. That's the main reason I stick with Puppia's. I do have 2 harnesses from chattiesmom and they are very nice! They don't seem to bother him and seem pretty strong. I have no complaints, very nicely made products. My only issue was I got a red one last year and he's constantly in the water and outdoors, and the red color got wet and bled onto his hair. He had some red staining on his hair, LOL!! So I ordered a black one a while back so hopefully that diminishes the problem w/ the color but I haven't used it yet. Great customer service though, a little rip was in Jackson's 1st harness from her and she fixed it right up. |
Yeah, I was gonna order a Puppia as well, but the whole sizing issue is confusing and my little Kody is still growing. Chattiesmom said she would replace the harness if he outgrows it within 6 months. A great incentive, very good customer services as well. When Kody gets older and fully grown, I will invest in a Buddy Belt though. Right now I have a harness I'm using I got from Walmart - put only temporarily until I get mine from Chattiesmom. I also ordered the black. |
The buddy belt is the best harness I have come across. It is amazingly well made but yes, $$$$ expensive. I bought one in a size 3 and it fits my 15 week old 4lb pup on the 2nd to last hole with clothing on, when Reesie is full size (anticipating 6-7lbs) I'm sure it will fit perfect. Awesome part of the buddy belt, it's size adjustable!! My 2.5yr old is also 4lbs so I can use it on him as well, but plan to get him his own soon. VERY BEST part of it, goes NO WHERE near the neck, in an emergency I can actually lift Reesie up off the ground by leash and it will not hurt him. Puppia seemed to make Snick gag a bit. No gagging with Buddy Belt. Awesome product!!! :) Viv |
I just found a ChokeFree on ebay in Jackson's size and it's the cheapest I've found!! And it's the color I wanted (black)... I may have to give it another try. I really loved how he looked in it but it just seemed a BIT too tight. He's got an almost 18" girth (it's like 17.5", I think) so I had ordered an 18" and I returned it. But I wonder if the 19" would be better for him and give him some more room. I dunno, I probably shouldn't waste any more money on harnesses. http://cgi.ebay.com/LEATHER-Choke-Fr...item3a54252f39 |
I am a personal fan of tierisch exclusiv harness's my binky had one her whole life we waited until we knew she was finished growing but they are sure well made. I am glad this time i went with the rolled version because it has a wonderful adjuster and the smallest size sits beautifully on my 3.6lb yorkies breastbone. my binky had a decorated version of their plain harness and I was not fond of the brass after a while it faded and my hubby ordered it so he also ordered rhinestones which i also didn't like much. these are made of italian clothing leather and soften up over time to be extremely comfy. My binky was bigger and even after 10 years this harness will be used by my cousin who has a shih tzu it will fit perfect. I even ordered a id purse for Savannah and I'll post a link to share dogcollars: HARNESSES |
Love Puppia:thumbup::thumbup: Very strong |
Which puppia? I'm confused on sizing for Puppia. I really want to try them. Kody is 3.8lbs may be a bit more - 11" right behind legs. I know he neck don't adjust if I go for the smaller size in his range. Any suggestions? |
I did that with my last yorkie as well and my husband found that tirsch brand for me she sells on ebay as well as eurodogs I think it is. I did post her website in a different post the measurements for her harness's are right behind the legs to get the size. the 14" in the rolled version actually fits my tiny 3.6lb yorkie. My only issue is ordering mine with the rolled because it had a 2nd adjuster to lower the over the head part to make it sit on her breastbone and its going to take longer to break in for sure and get all butter soft. but it did last my binky 11 years the plain version of her harness she sells. my neighbor went gaga over my new bright pink one for savannah and had to have one for hers they are much prettier in person that is for sure..lol |

I still wish I could find that PERFECT harness. I'm going to SC on April 1st so he will be on the beach and outside every single day... the only problem I have with the Puppia is sand. I remember last year, the sand would stick to the mesh of the Puppia and it was hard to wash out. It wouldn't just rinse off with a spray of the hose, you had to really work at it. Sooo I am on the look out for a comfortable outdoorsy cute harness still. |

I agree with Britster on Puppia size... Mickey was in an XS when he was a little puppy and now wears a small at 6lbs. :thumbup::thumbup: I buy mine on ebay. |
Thanks for the input everyone, I will order the x-small for Kody. |
