DIY Doggie Closet 1 Attachment(s) Hey ya'll... I've bought my Piper a TON of dresses since we got her. I found the most awesome lady on eBay who makes them like no other I've seen for INCREDIBLE prices. She also does custom ones for $10 + your fabric. Anyway, I've been looking for a little wardrobe for her and I'm astounded at how ridiculous the prices are. Just thought I'd share what I'm doing for her wardrobe. I bought a Closetmaid 2 Door Organizer, like the one in the picture I attached, but in White. They are $30 at Target. I have one of these for my scrap booking and granted, they aren't the greatest in the world and it's easy to drill through the board, but it does the job just fine. It comes with 2 shelves but I'm only planning on using one. I found a small white plastic shower rod for $4 at Target also that is about 1/4 of the size of a traditional shower rod. Since it's adjustable, this is what I'll use to put inside and hang her clothes from. I plan on decorating it with either peel and stick wall decorations or painting wood shapes and gluing them to the wardrobe. I'm not patient, otherwise I'd strip it down and paint it pink. :D I'll put a picture up once I get time to put it together. Working late all week :thumbdown |
Oh, and instead of spending a ridiculous amount on doggy hangers, I bought a pack of 12 pink children's hangers from Target for a few bucks. They are also doing the job just fine. I suppose it might depend on the type of outfit and how it's made...but they've worked great. |
good idea! would love to see the pictures when you are done! :D |
They also sell " Lots" of American girl hangers on ebay, they dont have to be made by American girl just 18 inch doll size hangers , they work great. They are very inexpensive and some have free shipping. My daughter used to collect these dolls and we had a ton of extra hangers, they worked out great and doll clothes and yorkies clothes are very similar in size!:thumbup: LOT of 12 DOLL HANGERS for American Girl &18" Dolls NEW - eBay (item 350382505059 end time Aug-11-10 13:51:38 PDT) 24 ct. 7 inch hangers for American girl doll clothes - eBay (item 150475069604 end time Aug-05-10 01:27:17 PDT) HANGER 5 White 7" Plastic for 18" American Girl Doll - eBay (item 300452199437 end time Aug-09-10 16:57:21 PDT) |
hey can u pm me ur lady who does ur dresses love closest idea!!! |
what is the website/ebay addy of the lady? |
Okay the lady on eBay who does the AMAZING dresses is: mmgold004 items - Get great deals on Pet Supplies items on eBay.com! I love that she makes Lilly Pulitzer dresses. I've snagged two of them myself. Her auctions start at .99 and I've snagged all my dresses for under $5, most of the time shipping included. I can vouch that they are amazing quality. If you provide her the fabric, she charges about $10 per dress for your own "custom" dress. Please tell her ShanPando sent you. She is also on Etsy. I "finished" the closet tonight. It's together, the bar is up, and the hangers and dresses are in. I plan on going to Michael's tomorrow to pick up her bow organizer and the wood shapes for the outside. I'll post pics once I'm done. I'm THRILLED already with how it turned out. Although, I've discovered the childrens' hangers are a bit too long so her clothes are hanging at an angle. No big deal for now, but when she gets the custom dresses in, I'll have to switch to smaller, American Girl hangers since there won't be enough room. (Thanks for that suggestion BTW!) |
I would also be interested in the "dress lady" |
That sounds like an awesome way to organize our furbabies clothes. :) I've seen baby clothes hangers at the 99 cent store and dollar tree. I wonder if those would work? |
Thank you for sharing! |
1 Attachment(s) I made Lady an armoire using Closetmaid components from Lowes several years ago. The top is a two shelf unit that I used PVC piping to make rods. It holds so much more than the little armoires they sell specifically for dogs. I love the Teafco hangers. They are very heavy and don't bend: ![]() |
Would this work for their clothes? IKEA | Storage | Small storage | BAGIS | Children's coat-hanger |
Here's the finished outside :) Once it dries I'll take pics of the inside. I've also attached a picture of Piper in her Lilly Pulitzer dress from the eBay lady :) |
2 Attachment(s) Whoops, here ya go ;) |
I can't wait to move out! I want something like this for all of Kaji's things. His clothes, toys, blankets, towels..... Your baby looks so cute in her dress! |
Thanks! Yeah I use the shelf inside for her baby blankets, towels, and her bow holder. I'll post pics of the inside in a few :) |
I love it! |
Wow, that is soo adorable. What a great idea! :) |
My husband is going to have a fit but I am going to get one of those. It is a GREAT idea. I am also going to check into the dresses from that lady too. Thank you so much for passing the information along. |
2 Attachment(s) So glad you're making one also! It's so easy. Just get it from Target though, bc I've seen them for DOUBLE online. The wood shapes I bought are like 30 cents each from Michaels and the paints were like $1 each. You can buy pre-painted ones too, but I like to paint my own. Just buy some good bonding glue also, and let it dry laying flat on the ground for a couple hours. I think I spent like $40 max on everything. SO WORTH IT! And yes, do check out her dresses. I adore her and buy something from her like every day. She's getting rich off of me! LOL JK. I just bought the most ADORABLE Lilly Pulitzer tutu and matching bow. I attached a pic of the inside of the closet too :) |

It is still an awesome idea. I did contact the lady. I am now waiting to hear back. She did not have anything listed that was small enough for my 2. ;) |
What an AWESOME idea!!! Right now, I just use those Wonder Hangers and have his stuff hanging next to mine. I wonder if I can sneak this past the BF :) |
AWESOME! Just FYI that Piper is 10 weeks and fits into the XS very well. She weighs about 3 lbs though, so I'm not sure how small your two are. I've bought a bunch of smalls thinking she'll grow into them. I hope she does because I'm thinking she'll end up 5 or 6 pounds. If not, I'll have some to sell! :) I'm sure she can tailor them to your measurements. You'll love them. |

I took their measurements today and sent them to her. She is making a vest for my little boy and a matching dress for my girl. I will post them as soon as I get them. Thank you again. |
WOOHOO! I can't wait to see! :) |
I LOVE the closet you made for your little girl. I bought 2 of these 3 drawer things to organize both of my little ones clothes, toys, etc. I love this idea much better of making an actual closet. |
I love the closet too, Im going to TRY and make one. ;) |
This lady is wonderful!!! I actually just recently moved and forgot to change my pay pal address, and told her but she forgot to send it to the new address. She was so nice and sent me a new dress with no questions, her dresses are absolutely adorable and so reasonably priced :D |
