Greasy head?
 
The top of Olive's head always seems to look greasy, but the rest of her looks normal. Is there a shampoo or something that will help that that won't dry out the rest of her skin?

I know what you mean. Kaji gets weekly baths on Sunday, but by Wed/Thurs his ears look kinda greasy. I'm not a big fan. We use Biogroom now, but I'm thinking of using a new shampoo. I'm trying Yorkie Splash and Shine, and will be trying a different one soon. I'll be sure to comeback and share what I have found. :)

Thanks so much. I ordered some Splash and Shine. We'll see if that's better for her than what's she's been using (just any old puppy shampoo from Petsmart).

I just started using it, and I didn't wait a week to bathe him again like I usually do. We went to the beach yesterday and he got really sandy. We'll see next week if this shampoo does any better.

We got Splash and Shine today, but Olive has been sick. I would prefer to wait to bathe her until she's finished with her meds. She hates baths enough already, lol.

Well Splash and Shine made her skin dry and her head is still greasy... sigh. I just ordered some Nootie. We'll see what happens there. I'm going to ask the groomer, too, if there's anything else I can do. I was watching a show last night where they used liquid dish soap to degrease a cat's fur, but I'd be afraid to get that in her eyes! She already hates bath time...

Are you sure you rinsed it off really well? If you don't rinse any shampoo or conditioner off really really well, it will look like they have flaky skin. I will admit that Splash and Shine completely threw me off because of it's water like consistency. I thought I was going to have to use the entire bottle just to get a good wash. What I ended up doing was putting droplets in the areas I was working on (ears, leg, tail, back, you get the idea) and I "massaged" it on Kaji. With the water off and a nice massage he actually enjoyed this last bath a little. I asked for samples of Nootie too though. I'm getting cucumber melon. :D

She doesn't sit still for one second in the bath :( It's hard to tell if I've rinsed her completely because she keeps squirming! I rinsed her as well as I could and then I used the Yorkie Splash conditioner. Maybe next time I'll try putting her in the tub instead of the sink... I thought she'd feel safer in the sink, but maybe not. I ordered the Warm Vanilla Cookie Nootie... it just sounds so yummy!

At a year and a half Kaji isn't any better. He paces in the tub. I have a rectangular plastic tub that I put him in sometimes. I fill that with water and I use a very large cup. I think I over rinse but I'd rather over rinse than under rinse. That does sound yummy! Let me know how you like it!

Will do :) It'll be a while before I bathe her again though.. Her skin is too dry now :(

My pup had a greasy head too and we thought it was from rubbing his head all the time causing oils from our hand to build up on him. I changed his food (for various other reasons) and noticed his fur on his head is not greasy anymore.

What kind of food do you feed him? I feed her Nutro and she loves it.
