Petzlife question Who uses it and who gets original or salmon? I want to order some. The salmon oil one says it has added omegas in it (duh), but I'm afraid it will smell. I was using Ark Royals oil and my bf hated the smell and wouldn't allow me to use it anymore, esp since Uni's food (Wellness) already has fish oils in it. I wanna order soon, b/c there is a free shipping special at entirelypets.com for the next few days (code is "spookypet"). |
I have used the original petzlife spray on Buddy for almost 4yrs with great results. He will be 6 in Jan and nothing but white teeth in his mouth. His teeth are better than mine:( We do brush almost daily and I now use the petzlife spray once a week for maintanence. I wouldn't be without it. |
I had heard that the salmon was originally made for cats, but some people say they use it on their dogs. I doubt if dogs like either kind, I know the regular kind smells good, and has little taste. I have both the spay and gel, I think the spray is much faster to apply, a spritz on each side does it, Joey doesn’t' fight me, but I'm sure he doesn't enjoy it. |
We tried both flavors and Izzy did not like the Salmon at all. As a matter of fact we only used it once or twice and then sold it on YT for half price. We use the original flavor and also the spray once a week like Carol does with Buddy. Also use on Cosmo now and he likes the original flavor as well. I also invested in a dental tool that scraps the tartar off and so far so good on Izzy..I got it off Ebay. |

Awwww poor Izzy. No he just does his zoomies when I release him. When he sees the bottle he slinks down on the ground looking pathetic:p The spritz in his mouth only takes a second and then he's gone doing his thing. |
Ok original spray it is! I was thinking gel b/c they said it is stronger, but I guess the spray would be faster. Uni just has this one spot that is yucky. One of her baby "fangs" never came out, but it is perfectly in line with her teeth. It's the strangest thing. So there is tartar in between there. I floss it too, but there is still that pesky stain. thanks gals! |
I use the gel on my Harry boy, I started using it two years ago, after his dental cleaning and his teeth are really nice and white.. even my Vet noticed when he went for his pre breeding testing. :D:D I use the regular flavor one, I brush every two days.. hugs, cArmen in nj |
it doesnt smell that bad; but when i was using it my dog threw up the next day; so not sure if it's from it or not; and then someone recommended Bluto's Yummy Gum Brush which you can get from amazon for a good price; and so far so good; no bad side effects. good luck |

We use the original spray as well. :) |
I just put in my order. A bottle of the spray and a bottle of Cosequin, even with free shipping it came up to almost $50! I swear, I'm so broke, but I still take good care of my baby! :D |
I've been meaning to order some of this spray, too. I think Jackson would fight me to put the gel in his mouth so I'm opting for the spray. Seems so much easier. He will be a year old in a few weeks and I need to get started caring for his teeth better. He's allowed me to brush them 3x in his lifetime  His teeth have NO tarter on them now but I guess Petzlife is a good preventative? |

And I know what ya mean about being broke yet still taking care of your baby! LOL. I do it all the time. I'd rather spend my last dime on him than myself. It's pathetic. |

i have been using the gel on molly . it works really good. aslo she was having trouble with one of her back leg an i have her on cosequin an now she runs like a deer. i think it is good preventive for their joints. |
Petzlife oral products contain grapeseed extract and rosemary oil. Grapes are on the list of toxic foods and I read recently here to avoid anything with rosemary as it may trigger seizures? |
Uh oh, is that true??? Can you link the thread please? |

phew! Thanks Nancy! |
Oh dear, I just realized I goofed and kjc is correct it does contain grape seed extract, as well as grapefruit seed extract. While it is true that dogs can have a reaction from grapes I believe it is something in the skin of the grape that is the problem, and we should not assume that the seeds themselves would do harm. Here's more information on grape seed extract: Quote:

Wow I already got my order! |

Thanks Nancy ... I've been reading so much lately I can no longer see straight! As I am the Official Uni Stalker, I just had to give a heads up ... the product sounds really good, but as with anything ...be prepared for any side effects. They're not sure about Rosemary ... maybe only triggers seizures in dogs that may have a sensitivity to it. I've been reading tons of food labels, and rosemary is actually in many of the dry foods available for dogs ...of the ones I've read. Also, many YTers have been using it for years with no problems ... Just use it on a day you'll be able to watch her. Not that you wouldn't... |

I know, if Uni lived over here (east coast) or I there (west coast), I'd be visiting everyday! And Uni's Mom would never have to worry about an Uni Sitter!:D At least we know her teeth will be clean and shiny!!! |

Anyway, I sprayed Uni once this morning, she didn't sneeze, she def didn't like it. Afterward she ran around the couch rubbing her face on it. LOL |
I have been using the gel for about a year and Pixie has lovely white teeth...I put a small blob on a cloth and gently rub it on..I also sprinkle 'Pro Den Plaque off' on her food daily. |
