rubber bands What kind of bands should I use in my yorkies hair? I have tried latex band that look just like small rubber bands. They seem to break the hair. Any suggestions on what to use and where to get them? Thanks :) |
I used to use the little baby rubber bands. But noticed they were pretty hard on her hair. Just recently I changed to Ouchless hair bands, the smallest ones (I got them at WalMart in the baby section). I still tie it around about 3 times and it stays in pretty good. |
I have just ordered ordered grooming bands and they do okay. I agree that it seems as though they still break the hair but I am pretty sure everything will a little. These were the most expensive and supposedly the best grooming bands they had. I have also tried ouchless and I cant even work with those because they have no elasticity to them. I hated them. |
I like to use the cotton tiny bands that are made for people but they stretch and work great in Bitsy's hair. They come out easier and I only have to wrap them around about three times to get them to stay in. I probably got them at Target or Walmart in the people grooming section :D |
The ones I use may be the same ones that BentleyandBitsysMom was talking about. They aren't rubber and they just slide right out of the hair. I use them on myself as well only bigger ones, well I have used Reagan's occasionally, in a pinch. They say no damage and have no metal parts. I get them at Wal-mart, Target etc. in the hair section. But I will say that if you are just starting to put her hair up she will be able to get these out easily. You may be better to stick to the rubber ones until she gets to the point where she leaves them alone. I think these are the ones I use, or something similar... http://www.scunci.com/product_detail...=4&pid=14&lp=2 |
I use small elastic bands I got from Lawdogbows. |

yes, those are them :) |
When Toto was very young and I was just beginning to put her topknot up, I used the teeny ones used for braces. I began to use the colored ones from Wal-Mart when she grew lots of hair. I believe too, all of the will cause some breakage. |
1 Attachment(s) I have stopped using bands all together. Now I use those plastic barrettes that we girls used to wear as kids...do you remember? There's like 10 in a pack and even today little girls still wear them. The have "teeth" so they grip the hair and stay put but they don't break the hair and are easy to put in and take out. Here's a pic to show you what the barrettes look like. |

That's such a cute picture. I've never tried that kind of barrette I've used teh ones that you bend one way to open then bend the other wya to close, they didn't work to well for me but I'm gonna look into the ones you use. |
Oh and where in Alabama are you, sharond? I'm in Tuscaloosa, well just east of it in Vance. |
Bell use to be so good about keeping her hair looking good, but lately she has become such a tomboy, Its hard to keep her hair in a topknot, I have changed to those ouchless bands, but I use to use those bands made out of cotton or something, they are really cheap and don't hurt her hair at all! :p |
Girls count your blessing that your little ones wear barretts or some sort of band, Gucci refuses to wear anything!! lol I put them on and in a matter of minutes she removes them... I want a dainty little girl...lol Gina |
we use the ouchless from walmart. |
