New Pedicure tool Has anyone tried that new pedicure tool that is Seen on TV? It's like a little grinder for the dog's nails? I am thinking about buying one. |
I Saw It Yesterday. Let Us Know If You Like It |

How great is that??, the panty hose idea!! I too saw the nail grinder on TV. I really want to try it! I also spoke to a groomer the other day about it. she didn't give me any good tips though. She did say that if the dog has long hair there will be a problem, so now...problem solved. Thank You for the tip!!! I am going to order one. Patti |
I've been procrastinating about ordering it too. My groomer always files my dogs nails with an electric dremmel (sp?). I never gave a thought to the long hair getting in the way. Pantyhose sound like a good idea - especially with ME using the file. LOL. I get nervous trimming the ears too but I do it. Let me know if anyone has had success with the TV tool. |
They were showing:idontknow it this morning on Fox News. It looks good and I am debating about getting it. My Sam hates his nails done I have to take him to the groomers so I am not sure if he would like this any better... |
I saw it. It really looks like the grinder the sell in cvs for people. I would be afraid to use it on my dogs. |
I have one and use it on several of my dogs. You have to get them used to it gradually |
there are plenty of us on here who has purchased this tool...and actually likes it...hehe...i think Des (gofetch) posted another tread about another tool that looks just like the peticure but $10 cheaper..hehe here is the other thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ave-nails.html and her is Des's thread with the other tool Pedi paws http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...pedi-paws.html |
Ugh so I just got mine this week... I Havent even been able to get it close to Chewys nails... The chick freaks out from the sound. so many others on here have had luck with it though. I dont know how to get her to trust it. Ive tried turning it on and just holding it against her, tried just turning it on and holding it in my hand... dont know what else to do........ Ive heard really good things about it but i would suggest if you have a really sensitive kid who scares easy that you think twice. |
Love It! I just got mine, and its GREAT! I love it so far.. Cookie doesn't mind it at all, she just looks at it like "hmm whats this.." haha. It's fairly quiet,(but does make a small humming noise) and easy to use. There's a guard for the hair, Cookie has long hair on her feet and it hasn't gotten in the way. If anyone is questioning purchasing one, I would say go for it!:thumbup: |
I just got mine and have used it on all 3 of mine. I started with great treats and rubbing the tool over their legs and feet, a treat.. then turning it on, a treat... Holding it against a leg while running, treat.. and the foot, treat... then touching a nail.. treat. TJ and Sandy did great with it.. Dexter was another story.. he panics when you get the nail clippers.. he stands great to be trimmed but you got something out to trim his nail and he goes crazy. Evidently he was badly frightened when he was little and has freaked ever since. But, with treats and patience.. I actually got all of his nails trimmed a little with this thing. He doesn't like it... but he will accept it. I am going to do it again tomorrow.. wish me luck. |
Hmm...I am thinking about getting one, but it seems like there are so many to choose from. Hmm... |
I ordered mine over the weekend because my dremel - type grinder finally gave out. |

Im going to try this... ill try for 5 mins a day with treats... Chewy is hating this thing. She freaks and screams. I fought her over it for about 20 mins... Ill be needing luch! |
this tool is absolutely amazing. wookie's nails are smooth and not sharp and its so easy to use. it was easy to get him adjusted, i just placed it in front of him and gave him bits of peanut butter and then i poked him and stroked his paws with it (while it was off) and gave him some more PB and then i turned it on and let him sniff it and gave him a lot of PB. lol its not very loud too. =] good investment. :animal-pa |
I ordered mine! Got a postcard saying it will be available in about 6 weeks. Don't know if Nolee will let me use it! We will see!:animal36 |

Peticure Petite I really enjoy it, Im about to use it on my baby now! haha :) |
So for the past few years we've been lucky enough to get free nail trimmings for our babies at a local pet shop. But with four of them (we usually only take 2 at a time) we seem to have to go every other week and lately it seems that they just don't take enough off. We come home and they still "click, click, click" on the hardwood floors. I've tried to trim them myself and would be fine if they would just NOT pull their paws away just as I'm ready to snip.........so actually, I'm probably really NOT fine and they can sense it, LOL So I am this close to ordering a Peticure Petite..............someone PLEASE tell me to "JUST DO IT" :p And my question then would be........how long do the filing bands last....should I buy the extra filing bands (@ 14.99) along with the Peticure? Thanks for your help! |
I havebeen wanting one of these you know walgreens always has the as seen on TV things after a while so Im going to wait till they get it |
 okay guys, mine arrived in the mail yesterday. It took a really really long time to come...about 8 weeks in all. I don't have a puppy yet (he is arriving on thursday) so i took it over to my best friends house last night to try it out. I used it on both of his two kitties who absolutely hate to have anyone do anything to their paws and they allowed me to use it with few problems...one looked completely bored and the other just looked annoyed but neither were frightened or upset by the noise (not as loud as i would have expected). The bands didn't look like they had been worn down much (i'll let you know how it goes when i actually get to use it on my puppy). Overall it was very quick and effective. I give this one a definite thumbs up:thumbup: |
I took Bella to get a puppy cut and nail trim when I got her. They told me they couldn't trim her nails because the quick had grown out too far. When I mentioned this to the vet, she advised getting one of these because the small amount of heat the spinning produces will cause the quick to recede back into the nail. I was going to wait and see if Kohls gets it, then I could use a coupon to get it. |

I want to get the peticure too but at 30 bucks - will wait HAHA - I edited my spelling - left a comment as to why (mis-spelling) and MISSPELLED THAT comment I'm going back to bed. It's too early on a Sat morning |
pedi paws or peticure? The peticure is more expensive, but does anyone know which one is better or if they are both just as good? I'm about to order one because the doggy nail cutters just aren't happening with my yorkies. I'm just not sure which one to get now! |

I was at Walgreens earlier and they didn't have them yet (surprise, surprise:rolleyes:). As far as the difference between Peticure & Pedi-Paws??? I don't own either one (yet), but looking at the two, Peticure LOOKS sturdier and I did read somewhere that Pedi-paws has only on opening for the nail to be trimmed while the other has more openings....for different sized nails maybe??? I'm no expert, so correct me if I'm wrong. I'm also still curious as to how long each filing band lasts.............anyone???? |
Peticure I bought one about 4 months ago. It does take a bit to get them used to it but if you take it slow they will do fine. I found that it doesn't do well if you let the nails get too long because it takes too long and they don't don't want to hold still that long. So if they are too long I cut them first and use the peticure to file the sharpness down. They do like it better than the nail cutters, even my little 3 pounder who is a real baby. It takes two of us to cut her nails but I can do the peticure on her by myself. Yes you do need to be careful if the hair is too long so trim that first. I would recommend buying it even if just to file the sharpness away so you don't get scratched by:aimeeyork the sharp newly cut nails. |
The petipaws does have only one opening whereas the peticure has several openings because all nails are not the same size. I will be getting the peticure elite because I have a GS and a Collie as well and by my understanding the elite has more power and will do larger pets better than the petite. |
Can anyone describe the bands? If they are the same as dremmel bands, I can get them through my professional supplier, (I'm a nail tech). I read one post that they are $14.00? I hope there is more to them then just the band for that price. |
