| Human Products on Yorkies? Hi. I am a first time Yorkie owner and I had a question about grooming products. I have a shampoo and conditioner for my puppy made for pups but I was wondering if it is safe to use a human leave in product or detangler on her hair for in between baths. I heard that you're not supposed to use any human products on a dog but then I also heard that Yorkie hair is similiar to humans so it is okay. Can someone please help!? Also can anyone tell me when the puppies start to loose that puppy fluff and get their silky hair or would she have the silky hair from the beginning? Thanks so much!

| Dogs and human skin require differnt products due to PH. I would recommend pet products only unless you are able to confirm its contents. I didn't know better when Bella was smaller and I used Pantene too because I loved the smell and the way her fur felt. After a few baths I noticed she was very dry and flaking off skin. There are many products to choose from for pets. Including leave in sprays/conditioners. Good luck finding the right product for your baby. Welcome to Yt |

| I heard that BioSilk is from the same company that makes some dog stuff, so I have used it on Mojo's hair...for a shiny, conditioned look. And there is a "pomade" -- Palmers hair pomade, I believe -- that someone posted about awhile back...and bought it ($2 at Wal-Mart) and it works well for keeping the hair between the eyes (around the eyes) out of their eyes! I have also heard and had a groomer once use the Aussie 3 minute (miracle)? conditioner...mixed it with water in a spray bottle and it works (and smells) great!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I've used numerous human hair products on both of mine with no problems. At times I'll use products specifically for dogs too. I've had a show/breeder tell me that watering down human conditioner is a good between bath detangler, and I've used Aussie 3-min miracle for this. Although I prefer now to use Crown Royale finishing spray for comb outs, it leaves no build up of product and the scent is absolutely wonderful. I use Johnson's Baby shampoo around their eyes, but not anywhere else as it can be very drying. I would love to try the Ilse of Dogs line but it is expensive and I'm not certain it would make that much of a difference.
