| Infections This is my first yorkie. I already own a lab. my lab is strong and has a stomach of steel he never gets sick. Now this yorkie seems to be having problems. she has already had a shot for an ear infections and medication was perscribed for her ears. Now I am afraid of a bowel infection. I am fine with taking her to the vet but I am wondering if I should get pet insurance for her. She is a yorkiepoo. Do they have many medical problems? Which insurance do some of you guys use? |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I seem to always get the sick yorkies. My dogs have kept many vets in business!!! I do have VPI pet insurance but it does not cover congenital and hereditary diseases, which unfortunately 2 of my 4 had. But for other type of illnessess and accidents it is good to have, I pay 20.00 a month for each of my 3 Yorkies so it is adding up, but I like the security of knowing if they have a covered illness or an accident they are covered. A lot of times once they get thru the puppy problems they do fine.

| Lily is a yorkiepoo and she has had many health issues but insurance usually is not worth it, if you take the money you spend on insurance and put it in an account normally you are better off.

| pet insurance Thanks for the advice, I was wondering myself if I should get insurance, but putting it into a savings account actually sounds much better, and simply because knowing insurance company's from past experience, they always seem to come around and say that whatever you're claiming is exactly the item that is not covered. |

| I can't help with your questions -- but I do want to extend a warm welcome to you and your furbutts. I am blessed with yorkies who are healthy as horses so I've never felt the need for pet insurance. You will surely get the answers you need. YT is an awesome place! |
