I was just wondering about this today, I had no idea microchipping was so cheap. I will definately ask my vet about it when I bring Zoe for her first checkup (if my breeder hasn't already microchipped her). |
Kayah didn't even flinch.. I was like :2omg:I almost passed out on the other hand:rolleyes: Although Kayah's a very good girl.. you never know.. and it never hurts to do it as a precautionary act. But it really does depend on the person who finds the dog.. someone may be nice and check to make sure.. but someone may be an a** and just keep your baby.. Take Denise's case for example, the man who found Maddie DID take her to the vet.. BUT the stupid (sorry) vet never checked to see if she was microchipped.. so what good did that do?! But I say.. DEFINATELY do it.. it's only a few seconds and then it's over. As for the chip, we used Avid.. it's what the doctor offered in his clinic |

I haven't chipped mine, I have thought about it, but then somebody posted on here a while ago a study where they thought it might cause cancer?????????????? It's a tough one. |
omg!!! i didn't know!!! Quote:
Why didn't the vet mention this? I am going to say something to him and take this link to him for review so he can post it in his office. I live in a rural community and am not sure if he was even aware. I sure wasn't until you posted this message. Anyway here is the link http://www.antichips.com/press-relea...ts-tumors.html Thanks Melinda and family |
Murphy was microchipped when he was neutered. He has the PetLink chip. My vet started using this chip beause their is no yearly fee. With the HomeAgain you have to pay every year to keep your information registered. The important thing about a microchip is keeping your information updated and active. |
I had Reece microchipped when he was neutered and Soleil was microchipped yesterday!! She didnt even FLINCH...they said even the big dogs yelp or cry because it DOES hurt...but Soleil is one tough cookie hehe...she bled a bit but not long..she seems perfectly normal today but she was in a bit of pain last night on her back where it was inserted. I feel its worth it for the price... Dawn |
About the link between microchips and tumors, please read this Time article that explains how there has been one reported case of a microchip MAYBE causing a tumor. Over 10 MILLION dogs have been microchipped! They aren't even sure if the microchip caused the tumor in that one dog. The American Veterinary Medical Association is still encouraging people to get their dogs chipped. The lab test of microchips with rodents showed less than 1% of them developed tumors of any kind and that the less than 1% were otherwise healthy and only had a nodule on their back. Another study showed that less than 4% got tumors and none of them were malignant, either. I think that the benefit in this case clearly outweighs the potential harm. http://www.time.com/time/health/arti...672865,00.html |
I had home again in our cat and she was lost. After over a year I got a call :) Happy Reunion! Well worth the $ and a few seconds of crying. |
My vet did not carry this procedure as I have asked but when my babies went it for their bortadella shots last saturday, I found out that they are now offering it. . .so I had them do it to both my furbabies that same morning  . .it is AVID and it cost me $35 each. Plus you send a $18.00 per dog to the company so they are in their database at all times. It is a one time fee and am told that it covers worldwide. . . . |
We just had Bella microchipped when she went to the vet for her spay. Her vet uses Avid as well and we sent in our $18 for her to be in the database. Well worth it, in my opinion. |
Mocrochipping We have our :aimeeyork :animal-sm :dog: because you just never know what will happen. It is safe and not expensive. I used the one my vet offered. |
