This is what I think: I am very anti vaccinations pet or human. I know of many people who have either lost or nearly lost their Yorkies through vaccination. I don't think vaccines work - I know they say that many diseases are under control now as a result of vaccination, but I don't agree. If you look at the charts that they use to show how diseases have gone down, you notice that these diseases had ALREADY gone down, due to a healthier population. I had my children vaccinated against all the usual things and theystill got a couple of the illnesses so they don't work anyway!

I think that as long as your dog is healthy it is unlikely to get any of these diseases and if by chance they do, we have excellent veterinary help for them nowadays. Vaccination is a money making scam by the drug companies. They make more money out of vaccines than out of any other medication. I was talked into having a flu vaccine once, and I was so ill afterwards that I would never have another one. The little girl next door had this new HPV vaccine recently and she was really ill for two weeks afterwards. The doctors or vets will always tell you that it is 'most unusual' to have a bad reaction - it isn't. Remember that doctors and vets get paid by the companies to promote vaccination to their patients. I know there are laws about having vaccinations, but some religious groups do not vaccinate - I think it is the Amish - and they are fine. I know one Yorkie owner who is not going abroad anymore, as she will not have her Yorkie vaccinated, so people are wising up and doing what they can to avoid them.

Vaccinations - A bad reaction makes me nervous
 

My little Ferguson, 4 1/2 lbs., just had his annual vaccinations plus the 3 year rabies shot. I think I really screwed up by having him get all vaccinations in one visit. They said he could be lethargic for a couple days and not eat much, which is definitely happening. But he's also shaking almost constantly. He had a fever last night, which was somewhat expected, so I put a cold cloth on his head. He's still not feeling well today, day 2. His ears are faced back and he seems to be escaping to odd places in the house when he's not being held. I don't see any of the severe reactions I was told to watch for, but this shaking really makes me nervous! Any ideas on what I can do for him besides holding him all day?

Well there are certain things to give to detox them such as Thuja. I would go and like Karen Becker's F/B and ask her what she would recommend.

USA is currently beginning to have a rash of whooping cough because parents won't vaccinate their children with the vaccine. It is a terrible way to lose a child - they get so fatigued from the constant, uncontrollable violent coughing, sweating profusely from the effort of their body going through with so many coughing spasms hour after hour for days. That is just one terrible aspect of this horrible, often fatal disease - and all because people won't vaccinate their children.

Small pox, an absolutely horrid disease, was essentially killed out due to vaccinations! Those who have lived through this disease say it was so bad that living is small consolation for what they had to endure. Imagine! Someone is alive and going to make it and they have just come through such a horror they can't even be glad - for a long, long time.

So vaccinations have saved this world and made the industrial age and much progress and today's lifestyles of endless huge cities crammed with people possible. Do some have side effects - yes! Do mostly they help mankind go forward and not revert to worldwide plagues of one kind or another and keep our lifestyles possible - also yes.

I dont mean to pry but am honestly curious did she have a cold or virus at the time of vaccination?

My families distant relative live on the res and the infant death rates there from small pox and whooping cough is more than some third world countries.

These diseases are genetically unnatural to native people a european person like me half irish might survive an fbi will statistally not. In these cases vacs are life or death.

I am an American citizen I was born in Texas of all places, I left America for a short periodto my Dad's native Ireland uppn return to America I was vacinated in a combination shot series that is no longer given I almost went into full renal failute immediately after receiving the conbination shot along with small pox...this vac is no longer given I because it has been proven more harm than good and technology in medicinal breakthrough has given better options...

Not sure this is helpful but its my experience and in part of why I am teasonably leery of but risk acessing in vaccine applications.

What medical breakthrough prevents small pox? I wasn't aware of it. I know Homeland Security is highly fearful of another outbreak like we had years ago because so many have never been vaccinated against it now that vaccine has basically killed it off but hadn't heard what the medical breakthrough to prevent or cure small pox is. Excited like heck to know more.

All our family had all the vaccinations with no problems, thank goodness, as have most families.

I am Mennonite, with many Amish friends and relatives. For the most part, we most certainly do vaccinate our children, although their are some in any particular group who do not. In one Mennonite church we attended, the minister and his family did not believe in vaccinations until one of the other members came and exposed everyone to whooping cough. They nearly lost their 18 month old baby to this horrible disease. In our particular county today, we are having a whooping cough epidemic. It is most dangerous for infants and old people. I do not regret getting my sweet little Kipper his immunizations and he had absolutely no reaction, whatsoever. I feel so badly for those of you who have little ones with compromised immune systems. As the guardian for your babies, you must personally make the choice you feel is right in your situation.

Many religions don't vaccinate. Some individual congrigations of religiius do and don't like Baptists, some do some don't.

For what ever reason ppl vaccinate or not. You have to remmeber why they were created. PPL and animals were dying. Over vaccinating and affects is a different subject imo. PPL & animals aren't dying like they use to because the get vaccinations. Go figure. They work more than they don't

My 2 year old Fritz did fine with his vaccinations except for the rabies shot. It made his hair fall out around the injection site. He has a little nickel size bald spot on his hip. Now I have another addition to our family. Sophie is teeny tiny, only 11 oz. at 12 weeks old. I am really worried about the vaccinations with her especially the rabies shot. Can I wait to get it till she is full grown?

I had my 14 month old adopted yorkie vaccinated 6 days ago and she is still shaking, will not stay with us and us laying in the laundry room. She won't eat. I am so worried. She is sceduled to have her teeth cleaned Tuesday but I don't know if I should do it or not. I am going to call the Vet again tomorrow and ask. I reallly don't think I will get her vaccinated again.

Benadryl
 

My little guy is just 3 mo. old. At his 1st and 2nd vaccine time his Vet. gave him a shot of benadryl 15 min prior to giving the vaccine. The only affect it gave him was a little constipation and of course soreness at the injection site. He weight under lbs also.
