So lad she got her baby back. Too bad she isn't taking legal action so that people will know you can't get away with this.

One of a few pet peeve's (sorry for the pun) of this whole story...that should have been just "one" of the final steps this young woman took in caring for Maggie.

You're definitely right tho...if not for Maggie, then for the next innocent dog & send the message loud & clear to the next dognapper (& their accomplices)...it won't be tolerated! :thumbdown:mad::thumbdown

So happy the man had the nerve to stand up to his "friend." Not a person who I'd keep around as a friend, that is for sure. Since I live and shop close to this area it is very worrisome. I took Terra out around Meyerland yesterday and was so worried someone would snatch her, even though I never took my eyes off her. Then today I heard about Meyerland being an area of high crime/thefts lately!! It's too bad there are so many immoral/unethical people in the world and that they don't have consequences for their actions... so they keep doing these things.

First, let me say the the initial story was very sad. I think part of the prolem could have been her being under the influence and not on her P's and Q's. The person who stole the dog was a @$%ch and deserves all the karma that is owed to her. I will NEVER let anyone I don't know and trust hold my Yorkie EVER. I don't care, call me whatever. Yorkies are top of the line dogs and one of the most commonly stolen. Also, I will not use retractable leashes. I'll be sure to keep my furbaby close at all times.

YUP!!! I am a native NYer and I trust NO ONE!!! Especially a stranger with my dog. Idiots leave their dogs outside to go into a store or restaurant and then the dog is gone!! If I can't bring Miles either I leave him home, if I know beforehand, or we go back home together. There is nothing that urgent that I would ever leave him unattended or with a stranger. And it's your dog, if you don't feel comfortable with someone petting him / her or whatever you have a right to say so.

Yup it happens. I best she will NEVER let anyone hold that dog again. I'm wondering if she had a casual conversation with the girl who stole her dog. Like: "What did you feed 'em?, where did she sleep?...". Curious because she didn't press charges. I would be happy my dog was returned, reward the 'friend' who reported the B****, and press charges". She thought she was so slick. If the friend didn't report, I'm wondering if they were using the credit cards to track down that group.

Just thank goodness that the "friend" had a conscious and stepped forward. If he hadn't, this story certainly wouldn't have had a happy ending. Perhaps there's more to the story than we know, like a request not to press charges in exchange for the safe return of the dog. We just don't know.
I am certain that her baby will not leave her side/arms again.
Oh and good point everyone about the retractable lead. One of my boys always stays close so the short lead works fine for him. But, my other boy loves to have more freedom. I had been toying w/ a retractable, but this gave me cause to think twice.
