| Prosthetic Paws! Amazing story..... Last time I was at the ortho specialists I met a lady who had a dog with a prosthetic paw. I had never seen or heard of it before. The physical therapist came out and we talked for some time about it. Very interesting stuff! Certainly gives one a lot of hope. They did say that it really only works with dogs that have lost their feet...not for legs. But..hey...maybe in time. Just today I ran across this totally amazing story of a red heeler who lost all four paws and has prosthesis.....Just so heartwarming! The video brought tears to my eyes. | Mine, too! I had told the lady that I met how much I appreciated her sharing her pup's story. What she had gone through for him was amazing. The physical therapist said that only pups with very dedicated owners do well with those things. It really is a tedious process apparently and takes time for the pup to adjust.

| When we were in padre last week, we visited a sea turtle rescue and they had a turtle there that had lost 3 of her flippers from being wrapped up in plastic. Because of this she swam in circles. Someone made her a prostethic flipper and for the first time since she was injured, she was able to swim straight!

| We got to watch hatchlings being released into the ocean....so amazing! All the people at the rescue are volunteers, and it works off donations only.

| Amazing, gives us hoe That's a wonderful story. I've never heard of this, but it's good to know they are doing things to help these poor babies to live a normal life and not be put down.

YorkieTalk Newbie! | My yorkies ears I have a little girl. Her name is Reese Peanut. She was born March 15, 2011. Her birth mother laid on her foot and damaged it, so she bite it off. She has three prefectly fine feet and one of her back feet is missing. She's gets around as if if nothing ever happened. She's so precious. The breeder I bought her from is an excellent breeder and I don't question anything shes told me, but I am concerned about one thing. She had her ears taped, first each ear folded down the middle and then taped together. This was supose to make her ears stand up. She told me to clean them every couple of days and if they didn't stand up to retape them. I've had her three weeks now and everytime I take her ears down they stand up for a few hors and then fall again. I retape them as I was told to do. How long should I keep taping her ears? At what age do they usually stand on their own? She'll be 4 months old on July 15th. |

| Great post Linda...since having a Tripod foster boy, Teddy-Boo last year, I have such great appreciation for the spirit these animals show. Less than 24 hours after Teddy-Boo's amputation of his leg, he was making attempts to get up and after a few attempts was able to master it! Loved that little boy!

| I just love these stories! Animals are SO perseverant no matter what happens. I saw an article before about a cat who had prosthetic legs too... I'm going to try to find it... Bionic Cat Walks on Prosthetic Legs | Gadget Lab | Wired.com By the way, we met some new people last night while we were out walking Layla. One old man had a little shih-tzu with him and he said to us that he's never seen a cart dog before and he just loved it. He and his wife have rescued so many animals in their lives, dogs with broken legs, lost legs, even one who was shot in the neck and left to die! They found him, rushed him to the hospital for surgery, and he survived and lived a great life. These animals never give up, so we shouldn't give up on them either!
