this is very real! We've had two dogs stolen from our neighborhood to be used for bull-baiting in pit bull fights... the police got both of them back as we saw the man steal them from their yards.... we live in a very rural area and no one driving through would believe that there were things like this going on..... Please, please, take care of your babies....they depend on you roxanne |
Heartbreaking It is heartbreaking to hear of stolen Yorkies. Our Brady was missing for about 1 hour last Month and we searched the neighborhood and the house. I posted it on YT and immediately got a phone call from someone (wish I could remember her name) who lives in the same town (Port St. Lucie, FL) and said her dog (no collar) was missing for 3 weeks. She put an ad on Craigs List and I was so grateful to her and sad about her baby. After we search everywhere I heard a very faint bark in the house and we discovered in was under the recliner. When my husband was sitting in it Brady went underneath and when my husband got up Brady was stuck in there and we didn't know it . I can't imagine the anguish that is felt by anyone with a missing dog. It was the most terrifying and horrible hour I've ever been through (we live in a gated, over 55 community) and to have to go through an experience of a lost dog for days and weeks must be "Hell". Also be careful with the recliners. |
3 Attachment(s) I'm trying to figure out how to start a new post when I saw this thread. My cousin just called me to tell me that her Yorkie's been missing since last night. :( She is soooooo upset of course. I had told her about Yorkietalk so she asked me to post on here for her. They live in Pembroke Pines, FL in the Towngate area. Her baby's name is Pocket. He's a small one, about 2 to 3 pounds. I'll be reading through these threads but if anyone has any advice for us please let us know. Here are a few pictures. In the one with the 2 yorkies he is the smaller one next to my 5 pound Romeo (for comparison). Looking again at the pics, I see that he looks dark in the last pic but he has more of the silver hair, he was wet in that picture. |

Your sister needs to contact every vet and groomer in the area and give them a flyer with his picture and description, if the dog is microchipped..call the company, post on craig's list, kiiji, etc, make BIG laminated signs with REWARD and post everywhere, call animal control..and knock door to door in her neighborhood, ask children in the area to keep their eyes out |

so sad I could not imagine this, I worry about my Angel when I am at work, i have been bringing her with me, she sits in my office either on my desk, or on her pillow in my room, the girls watch her when i leave the room, but i am afraid someone will go in to my house and take her,, i am so sorry and i hope you get your baby back. |
Monitoring yorkies I have a friend who owns 7 yorkies. They are her LIFE! While she is at work all day she has a monitor that is set up in two places in her large livingroom/dining room area where these precious furballs spend their day. She is somehow able to log onto a site on the web and monitor her yorkies. I believe she can actually manipulate the camera to scan the whole room from right to left. She checks on them all day long as she does computer work and is logged on anyway. For the most part they sleep. If anyone ever entered her house she would have them on camera. It might be something some of you want to look into. I could find out the details if anyone is interested. If the person who lost Pocket wants to post an ad on our Lost and Found page, she can go to www.floridayorkierescue.com and see our page or email us with the details, photos and contact phone number to floridayorkierescue@yahoo.com. Of course this is a free service. Good luck, Kit Florida Yorkie Rescue |

3.5 years ago my first baby girl Yorkie (Tia Maria) was outside running around with our beagle and playing like they always did, The yard was completely escape proofed so they were ok to play out there... My ex was watching them But the phone rang so he ran inside to answer it, And he was inside maybe 5 minutes...He went back out and the back gate which had a heavy duty latch was wide open...Tia was gone!!!! Even though we knew she had been stolen..We spent weeks putting ads in papers, going door to door, putting up flyers, checking shelters...but to no avail. |
Mine was stolen during a burglary of my home :(Nov. 25, 2009. I don't think this is appropriate as it devastated me when I heard that my child could have been stolen for this reason. Please don't do that again. I lost MY CHILD! Quote:

My dog has not been returned. Please be more sympathetic to others. Your posting hurt me all over again and I don't think it helps any of us to know about this. My baby was stolen during a burglary of my home the day before Thanksgiving last year. The thieves took what they could grab in what I estimate to be two to three minutes. They also grabbed C.J. and I live with the horror of what it must have been like for her to be taken from her safe home and into the arms of people like this. |

in California, I believe it was. 2 idiots broke into a breeder's house with guns and took 3-4? baby-Yorkies. The breeder had a video camera in her house and everything was recorder. The poor little guys were running all over the place trying to get away from those 2 low-lives. Sadly they did get the little ones and put them in garbage bags!! |
I, for one appreciate Quote:
the heads-up. I rather know so that I can take measures to prevent. In this world, now-a-days, we can't afford to dig our heads deep into the sand while leaving our bottom's up for grabs. Our loved ones depend on us for protection. I wouldn't hesitate for a second either to protect mine. I say, do what you have to do, I'm with you  |
Breaks my heart to hear stories like yours, so sorry!! |
I don't think chip scanners should be available to the public. If someone has enough information from the chip can't they call and have the chip converted to their ownership? |
This seems to be happening more in Florida Quote:

OMG!!! This is such a terrible story... I AGREE with the earlier poster!!! People should be charged for kidnapping the same as they do for a child!!! Some ppl cant have children, and adopting or having a furbaby is the most they can have and means so much to them. I cant even handle when Roxy is away for a day with my boyfriend. Sometimes, about once every 2 months, I let him take her to his moms with him for a day, and for that whole day and night, all I can think about is missing her and sometimes I even call her and forget she isnt here. If someone took her, and I had no idea where she was... I can not even begin to imagine the devastation that I would go through, and the worry for her. What they were going to do to her, who they were going to sell her to, what the ppl who got her planned to do with her... I would be in complete misery. I know some ppl cant understand it... and some ppl cant compare their animals to their kids... but I just cant think of Roxy any other way than my child. I have had her since she was a pup, and when she was sick, I held her, and when she was hurt, I fixed her and took her to the doctor, when she is hungry I feed her, when she is cold, I dress her. I basically do what any good mother would do for her child... I even make her wear her seatbelt. She is too precious to me. That woman is a saint for saying she wouldnt press charges... I might say that if I really wanted my dog back, but I think if it came down to it and I got my dog back, Id want some kind of action taken... so he didnt steal another furbaby. |
Happy ending to stolen yorkie Well, there can be a happy ending... (this news story happened in 2008) Boynton Beach Madame Reunited With Stolen Yorkie - West Palm Beach News Story - WPBF West Palm Beach Kit Florida Yorkie Rescue |
Another Happy Reunion Story |
Regarding the Stolen Yorkies in California I too saw the video of the burgulars caught on a video camera charging into a home and picking up yorkie pups and Mom and tossing them in a large black plastic bag... but there was a happy ending... all but one pup, plus the Mommy was reunited with the owner. Here is the follow up to the story...... Last Suspect Arrested in Stolen Dog Case From Associated Press March 04, 2007 11:41 PM EST LOS ANGELES - Four purebred Yorkshire terriers stolen at gunpoint during a home invasion robbery more than a week ago were returned to their owners after a man turned himself in to police. Three puppies, valued at $2,500 each, and a full-grown family pet named Tan-ja were reunited with their owners at the Wilshire Division police station Saturday night. One puppy remained missing, police said. Family members hugged and kissed the panting pups and left the police station with the dogs in their arms. The animals were recovered after Ryan Betton, 19, of Los Angeles, surrendered to police Friday night, Detective Luis Corona said. A second suspect, 23-year-old Troy Cabral, turned himself in Sunday morning. Purebred Puppies Stolen At Gunpoint - CBS News Hopefully the remaining puppy that was never recovered found a good home. I hope the Judge threw the book at these guys! Kit Florida Yorkie Rescue |
