[News] Humane Society rescues dogs from local FL. pet shop I have been waiting for this. This place is where my Ralphie and Agnes came from. I bought Ralph here before I knew any better. He was very sick with several parasites (Giardia and coccidia to name a few) and kennel cough. I paid WAY too much money for him (even though to me he is worth a million times that). I fought hard to get some of my money back after I found out that they were well known for buying from puppy mills and had a class action lawsuit against them. They kept changing their name so I didn't know who they were until after I bought. They claim to be a group of "small breeders". Anyway, since Ralphie was so sick, they offered me a free puppy of my choice. I didn't want another one of their puppies but I saw my Agnes and fell in love. I viewed it as a rescue since I wasn't paying for her. Well, they finally got shut down...here is the story: ( I will keep you updated once the pups are ready for adoption if anyone is interested). They used to be named Wizard of Claws. I am sure many of you are familiar with them. |
I wish they would shut them all down. In Alaska there are NO pet stores that sell animals. The only way you can get an animal at a pet store there is to adopt one that the shelter brings on weekends. Should be that way everywhere I think. |
I am glad to here that your wish came true. Won't go into stores that sell animals. My favorite supply store started selling doggies and I quit going. Was hard to find another but I finally did 50 miles from home. So far so good. |
about time....i see you are from ft lauderdale...i am down here right now...and will be here 3 weeks...are they any yorkie meetups? |
I first looked at a pet store, but heard alot of horror stories. I didn't feel good about it so I found my breeder. |
I was totally uneducated when I got Ralphie. I look back now and can't believe I was so naive. I am happy that they are shut down, one less shop buying from puppy mills. They have a history of popping back up though so I am sure that they will start up again with a new name...pretty disgusting . I thank God for my babies though, even though I would obviously do it different now that I know better. They really were a little gift from God. |

Hey, welcome to South, FL. :p:p You got here in time for sunny weather, it's been pretty rainy lately. I do not know of any meetups but we could definitely get together with our little ones :):) |
So glad to here this place has been shut down! I have heard there horrid name and stories about that place since joining YT! So sad how many sick animals have been sold. When is the country going to do something about these pet stores and the puppy mills? I feel like all the legislation never goes anywhere - I've been to protest, complain etc - This story is at least good news |

Hi there. Good to read that there is ONE less puppy mill  |
I am glad to hear they are shut down. I purchased my Jewel (JewJew) from there and although she was never real sick I knew by things like the way she eats (or gobbles) that she had come from a puppy mill. When I registered her I found she was born in St. James, MO. But she is my momma dog and quite the sweetheart. Wouldn't trade her for anything. Has anyone heard anymore on the mill shut down in Seffner on Thurs? |
All of the puppies were adopted on Saturday :) |
Thanks for the update. My daughter was wanting to adopt one of the dogs from there, but I knew that it wouldn't take long for them to be adopted. :) |

Glad to hear that your baby was never sick, Agnes has been healthy from day one (fingers crossed). I think that I found their new site, I will look for it again and post it. |
Never mind, it looks like all of their "alternate" sites have been shut down as well.:thumbup: |
They were named Puppy Boutique when I bought Jewel, and they had several names when you look them up under the BBB. My husband would kill me too... LOL I have Teddy(Dad), JewJew(Mom), Brandi(Daughter) and Beau(Son). She had 6 pups but I could only talk my husband into keeping two. The rest are with good friends or family where I can keep an eye on them. |
Yep, Puppy Boutique is the name of the kennel in Pembroke Pines where they keep the dogs. Most of their business was through online sales. They had www.wizardofclaws.com, www.puppiesforsalebynet.com and their newest one that I found was This web site is no longer avail. All had the same phone # and website design. |
Lets hope and pray they stay closed down and that the rest get caught so no other babies will have to go through that cruelty. BTW your babies :animal36 are beautiful! |
please let me know when they start adopting them out... thank God they were rescued... |
So glad to hear they were shut down. I have known about Wizard of Claws for years. For a novice, their website looked wonderful but a total lie. They keep turning up under different names but maybe this time....here's hoping. We all were uneducated at one point, my Bella I got in Florida when we were down visiting and I should have known better. She was supposed to be my little girl, they told me 3.5 lbs, she is 8.5 and I know she is mixed with maltese. |
Rescue yorkies in Seffner I checked on them today and they are all in foster care. My understand is that the woman they took them from is not going to sign them all over. She will need to go to court and argue it with the judge. I don't believe a hearing has been scheduled yet. |

Ralphie was supposed to be small as well and he is a little over 7 pounds (which is still small). I am sooo happy that he is bigger than planned, the crazy stinker would have never survived all the jumps, falls, leaps, etc. that he puts himself through ;). |

Anyway, yes, we get puppy fever. I am over that after having fostered these rescue dogs for years now. I now cringe when someone uses the term teacup. |

Pet stores I live in Mass. and all of the pet stores in the Malls around me have closed, best thing that ever happened. I would go in to see the puppies[if you love puppies, you cant go by without stopping in] and they had big puppies that should have been sold running in a nice yar, instead they were stuffed in these small pens, going to the bathroom and I would tell one of the employees that this one pooped in the pen and is eating it,they dont belong in malls and thry dont belong stuffed in crated begging to get out,I would get sick after being in there. |
happy to hear they were shut down!!!! |
My husband purchased Lexi from a Pet Store and surprised me with her. One week later she was at the Vet with pneumonia and coccidia. The Vet told me after she got better that she didn't think Lexi was going to make it. We called the Pet Store owner and he said to bring the puppy back and he would give me another one. I suspected they would euthanize her ( this was validated by others on this website) so we demanded he pay the Vet bills. The Pet Store owner did and we kept her. She has such a sweet disposition and is a joy. I would like to see tighter regulations and those in place to ENFORCE the regulations. |
I am so glad to see this pet store closed down.. I cannot believe there is a hearing.. I would think in cases like this.. it would be so bad too sad we are taking these animals and you have no choice in the matter.. I will watch for updates.. anne |
