I feed my dog Merrick's dog food. Although they do not have a "small bites" product their dry food had pieces of carrots, apples and peas. You can add water to it to create a gravy and it will soften the kibbles. Their canned food looks like something we would eat. All natural ingredients and it shows. My dog loves it. You can check their website for their products at Merrick Pet Foods : merrickpetcare.com . |
Unfortunately, I think this is false. Now I have to question Consumer Affairs for putting this on their site because what else are they putting on their site that isn't correct? For the record, there are just too many reports even on YT of problems with it, so I still think something is wrong. |
I am needing to buy kibble in a few days also. I have been feeding Wellness for Puppies and am thinking about changing to Natural Balance if I can find the small bites in Birmingham. With all of the problems with pet food and having a very picky eater, mealtimes are frustrating to say the least. |
I went into PetCo several weeks ago to get Lilly a new food as her TOW was making her poo mucusy and stinky. I ended up getting Natural Balance but the girl that worked there was trying to pressure me into getting Nutro. I kept telling her no because of the recalls and sick dogs and she just kept saying "it's fine, I've had my dogs on it for years and never took them off of it during the recall and they're my babies." It was so aggravating. |
Made in China vs Made in USA???? I too was giving my pups Nutro, small bites and then the lamb one. I was also giving them the fruit treats (dry ones) mixed berries ,apple, and carrot. THEY LOVE THEM...These are made in the USA,not China, like some where made...Is this the problem??? I've tried switching them. All my friends that have been getting puppies lately...(not Yorkies) Have all been buying Benefull...IDK anymore. I know that when I was bringing up my Daschund he ate whatever was on sale and anything that hit the floor, from my kids..onions,grapes...and he's 14 never neutered and never sick.... |

Is this recent, can’t tell by the posting? Now I’m worried about the food I’m feeding the girls, they are on Wellness Core. I have noticed a change in the color of the food. So far I haven’t noticed any change on the girls, their poop is fine and eyes are clear, coat nice too |
Not made by Nutro Wellness is Old Mother Hubbard and not made by Nutro.... |
It's scarry. My dogs love the Nutro Ultra their holostic(sp?) food and I've never had any problems with them, they have been on it for almost 2 years now. Does anyone know of any other good quality food out there that we can feed out little guys. I chose the Nutro Ultra because it is holostic and doesn't have a lot of so called bad ingredients that others do have. What do you guys think is the best food out there? I know that's a loaded question but, I'm going to have to get more dog food this weekend and I'm seriously doubting getting the Nutro Ultra because it looks like you can never be sure when it may or may not affect your animals. There is supposedly no truth to this. Here, DIRECTLY from the FDA: April 28, 2009 FDA Statement on Nutro Products, Inc. Hopefully everyone can relax now. However, I'm not saying there is anything not wrong with any dog food Carol and Jemma |

My Opinion I worry all the time about what goes into my dogs tummies. I home-cooked for many months and now I'm feeding Innovia EVO grain free. They seem to love it and no side effects. I am of the opinion that if you have even the slightest doubt about a food, get rid of it. If one of my babies got sick, or (God Forbid) died because of something I fed, I'd be so guilt-ridden I don't know what I would do! IDK if the FDA is doing anything or not, but better safe than sorry. I'd like to get my hands on some of the people who make decisions to add harmful ingredients to dog food, or skip safety precautions to save money. I'm a calm person, but I'd probably attack like a rabid wolf! |
Here is the latest Nutro recall: NUTRO® Premium Pet Food for Dogs and Cats It concerns cat food and says where the problem is with the formula and it came from a supplier of pre-mixed stuff they use to make the cat food. Too much Zinc, etc. Perhaps that is what happened with their dog formula?????? People should have a way to have their pet food analyzed by a neutral laboratory. They could take it to the vet and they in turn could send it in to this investigative lab who could notify the proper authorities if found to be the culprit in the pets illness or death. Actually the pet food industry should have their quality control working to avoid all of these problems before the food is bagged and shipped!!! I hope that their quality control does not consist of just 4 leged animals ;) They need food chemists too! |

This is an interesting recall because there was some concern about excess zinc causing the problems with their dog food but evidently it had tested okay. Something is certainly not right though. |
