I got a couple of e-mails from reputable people/clubs that said that Ivan died of Parvo and Sadie is sick but her outcome is not known at this time. Sad.:( |
IF these pups had Parvo, it is the fault of the jerks who left them in a position to be homeless in the first place, NOT the fault of the shelter. Shelters have to deal with Parvo all of the time with puppies that are brought to them. That is not something new. |

I don't know if this adds anything to the story or not, but here's a post from the supposed breeder of the dog ... By Angela on March 8, 2009 6:10 PM Hi, Oprah's pup is one of my 11 cocker spaniels from a litter that my new dog Lizzy Ann had. I took in Lizzy Ann on the day of my mother's memorial service last November and found out a week after I got home she was pregnant. For the full story check out my myspace blog - Angela Brown | MySpace.com I am so glad Cockers are being recognized as a breed that fills shelters all over this country - so, no need for breeding too many more. Angela This post came from this site Oprah Winfrey adopts a dog from PAWS Chicago shelter! |

Ok there might be some guy that says By Matthew Thompson on March 13, 2009 10:03 PM Yep and now the pup has DIED of parvo, and the 2nd pup is barely alive. Guess that 9mil bucks for PAWS didn't include how to properly quarantine pups prior to adoption. but what does any of this prove? There is still no reputable source that says any puppies have died. in Oprah's care from Parvo. Just a knock against PAWS for not quarantining dogs long enough. I still say all of this is just a an attempt to scare people from adopting dogs because breeders are mad that their "right" to breed will be jeopardized. If you read the link that I posted the only person that this announcement can be traced back to says he wants to take people down and he mentions Oprah in particular. So that alone tells me a lot right there. Until I hear otherwise I will continue to question this entire story. |
Please don't mis-understand....I didn't claim that there was anything to it. I just found the post and was called to dinner before I could read the myspace link. I went to it after dinner and found that there seems to be a blog entry about it but, since I'm not registered there, I couldn't view it. I'm like everyone else...looking to find a reputable source for info and so far there doesn't seem to be any. As I posted earlier, this story is either true or not. I expect in the next day or so we'll know, one way or the other. |
Again...WHY would a litter of puppies BE in a shelter anyway? If she went to a shelter to adopt and the puppy had Parvo chances are it had it before it arrived...or it got it there BUT that is also not the fault of the shelter....they cannot quarantine every single dog that is turned in...those who think so need to work in a shelter for a while. I say blame the fools that bred the mother with obviously NO plan in place for the litter of puppies. No way should a litter of puppies end up in a shelter. |
