What does your Vet charge for a routine Exam? Just wondering. I don't know if my Vet is expensive or not. I probably will stay with him, because I like the practice. He charges $41 for the exam, medicines, if needed, are extra. If the ears need to be cleaned, for example, that would be another $18. I am having Kalina spayed :( in 4 weeks. That will cost approximately $300 and includes the microchipping. It costs an additional $7 for each baby tooth that needs to be pulled. Does this seem expensive or reasonable? |
Thats expensive to me, but vets down my way are cheaper. To spay and micro chip Dakota will be like $120. A office visit fee is $35-40. Can't remember, they just went up in prices. |
I got Zoey spayed/microchipped, 3 teeth pulled and 5 days of pain meds for $291.00.(this inc. pre surgery blood work) I think an office visit is $35. |
It seems expensive to me. Jewels spay was $110. |
It sounds a litlle expensive but if you like the vet and practice at least you'll be paying for piece of mind. |
Consultation fee at my vets is £30, which is about $60. Medicines would be extra, cost depending on what they were. To spay Indy was £130 ($260), that was without microchipping as she had already had that done. Baby teeth are £10 ($20) extra per tooth. Seems your vets prices are similar to mine, I do think they are expensive, but they are a good vets. |
I think the fees just depend on where you are located. I had a lady get mad at me, bc my vet didn't charge as much as her vet charged. There was like a 150 difference. |
I think it's reasonable. You can't put a price on it if you trust your vet. I pay a few more dollars ($10 a tooth as opposed to $7, $45 a vet visit as opposed to $41) and I live right across the bridge from you. I recently had Britney spayed and it was almost $400. |
Vet prices are absurd anymore honestly! I love my Vet but he is the most expensive in town for a visit it's $40 per dog and X-rays are $160.00 + the vet visits of $40 so $200 for an x-ray:eek:  When i took Tigger in last friday they did and X-ray and drained his chest and had him on oxygen and the bill was $600.00 in 5 hours:eek:   I really like him like i said but i am seriously thinking of a new vet for prices. there is another vet here and the care isn't as good but decent and they charge $108.00 for an X-ray with the exam so i don't know??? Do you go on prices or comfort??? |
Wow, you guys got it made! My vet charges $55 (Canadian - which is now about the same as USD) for an exam. Getting my kitties spayed was $275 each! I have Bitsy on the puppy plan which includes all her shots and her spay for $535. Any tooth extraction will be $20 per tooth. I thought my vet was pretty expensive, but I called like 5 other vets in my area and their prices were very similar. |
I also forgot to add that Each of Daisy's sets of shots was $200.00 a piece   |

Our vet charges $49 for the office visit (our old vet was $55). I've had a CBC done on my collie at $102.00, several urinalysis done at $34.00 each & a unrine culture sent to the lab priced at $98.00. Xrays were $90.00. My collie has a UTI that won't go away and I am up to about $1000 on it. :( |

I guess i have it pretty good with where I go. It's a clinic and hospital with more than one vet on staff. Office charges are 14.00 for regular checkup and I know $2 per tooth but if there's over a certain amt that need pulled, it's a dollar. Her puppy shots were 18.00 for each of the 4 rounds. I took her a few weeks ago, she wasn't feeling up to par and the visit was only 43.00 for her and that included medicines (2,) a shot, exam and two cans of food and they trimmed her nails for me. It's going to be 60.00 to get her spayed and that's even with her small size and all that goes with it. I can't remember how much xrays are. I think 60.00. It's a great place and doesn't break you. They're really good with animals too. I was going to a local vet and she was supposed to come so highly rated but man she kept jars of vaseline to give to you when you left !! (joke) I'm still petrified at the thought of Maggie getting spayed though  |
our visit is $25..then it can go up depending on test or shots. |
Wow, PittyPatty, you do have it made! Mine is better than some: $35 just to walk in the door. |
Rockies vet charges 30 dollars for office visits. The vet cleans his ears for free. Depending on what kind of medicine he needs it varies. |
I feel very lucky. That was my husbands biggest concern before we got Maggie but now he's ok. |
MY vet is 15 to walk in the door and 7 for an exam. |
Really for where you live I don't think it sounds bad at all. My vet visit is $45 and it's $175 for spay/neuter plus cost of blood work but each tooth plus plus plus get the picture. There are eight vets in the practice and I like them all so that is one cost I don't complain too much about. |

I like you vet:D |
Office Visits at our vet is $25 and then other charges depending what is done |
My vet is really inexpensive - he doesn't charge an examination fee - he only charges for meds and tests. When I took Rowdy in for his shots, he clipped his nails (hadn't been to the groomers in a while) and plucked the hair from his ears as well as taking his temp, listening to his heart and lungs, looking in his mouth, and a general "pat down" plus giving him his shots. He only charged me for the shots, that's all. It was around $25 (I can't remember exactly) He kept my sick schnauzer summer before last for 3 days, on IV's, while we were gone on vacation and then had to put him to sleep and the bill was $70. He had to keep Rowdy this past summer while we were gone on vacation because he got sick and was stayiing with my mom who doesn't drive. He kept him from Friday morning to Monday morning, he had an IV on Friday and antibiotics everyday - and the bill was $80 |
The basic start price for a visit is around $54. I think vaccines started at about $18/ea. An anti inflamitory med cost us $100. The cost for Brody's neuter was $181.00. We opted for the per op blood work for $82.50. We also got him chipped for $30. Brody also had all remaining baby teeth extracted, 3 total, $110 (mulitpule extraction rate of 3 or more). One to two teeth would run $20 a tooth. The final total was $403.50. Thank goodness they offered a military discount. I've noticed things here out east are quite a bit more expensive than in TX or AZ. We adopted our cats in AZ for $25/each. That included shots and neuter/spay. It starts at about $125 here. :( |
Our vet charges $38 for an exam. I think it was around $200 for getting spayed and microchip along with a few baby teeth pulled. She's great she knows a lot about yorkies and bella loves her she gets so excited when I say lets go see Dr. Lint! |

My Vet charges $30.00. He is very cheap I think. When I got Deiter fixed and they pulled 9 theeth. Plust they kept him all night. And that only cost me 90.00. And today we had to take Cozmo to have a lump on his neck checked out and he didn't even charge us. |

I pay $38 just for an exam so $41 is reasonable. $300 seems to be a lot for a spay but it does include microchipping. I think up to $200 is reasonable but after that it\'s getting a little expensive for just a spay and pre-op bloodwork. I guess it depends where you live though too |
