I know-it's strange! She was 3 lbs for what seemed like forever! We were a little concerned at first, but the vet said not to worry, and that she had probably "plumped up" and then grew taller and longer! Plus, she was free-fed with her littermates, so I'm sure she just ate and ate :) We used to call her our "chubby little cupcake" because she had the most round little lower body, it was so funny! Now she's much more proportionate. I should also add that when we first got Milli, we took her to the vet, and he said that she'd probably be 7-8 lbs because of her weight at 11 weeks...I was ok with that-I just wanted her to be about the same size as Emma. But, then when we kept going back for shots/checkups, she was STILL 3 lbs! The vet took back what he first said, and told us that she'd be little, since she was growing, and healthy but not gaining pounds-He said she's be lucky if she made it to 4 lbs! She's my "squirt", but she's perfect for Milli! |

I weighed mine every week when they were small. I weigh my 4 about once a month now. They all gained weight differently. |

I have always heard that "generally" yorkies get their full size around 7-8 months - although they can pack on the pounds after that if they eat alot. I didn't check to see if that is true for those that posted their weights. Interesting ... |

Interesting, everyone! Thanks for bringing this one back! They seem to fill out around 15-18 months, especially after they are spayed/neutered. |

Yes..... I have only had Tinkerbell for a month, but I have recorded her weight every single day. Sometimes, having a postage scale in my home office is not a good thing! :D 13 weeks: 18-19oz (according to her breeder) 14 weeks: 18.8oz 15 weeks: 20.4oz 16 weeks: 22.0oz 17 weeks: 23.8oz 4months: 25.6oz (9-18-08) She will be 18 weeks tomorrow and weighed 25.0oz this morning. I kept a chart for my Maltese, as well and she followed the weight chart almost exactly. She is now 2yrs and 3.15 pounds. Wendi and Tink |

I just dug out my Maltese's weight chart since Maltese and Yorkies seem to have a similar growth pattern. 12 weeks: 28oz 2 years: 63oz She followed the chart right down the line between 3.5 and 4 pounds from the day I got her and she is only a few ounces off from the double the weight at 12 weeks rule. I have also heard that it's double the weight and add half a pound for females and a pound for males. By that rule, she is almost dead on! My Chihuahua followed the chart perfectly, too. But, I don't know how well a Chi can be compared to a Yorkie. As you can see, I am obsessed with my babies!!! Wendi and Tinker |
