Did you keep a record of weight the first year?? Well..I didnt lol...Reece is 15 months old and when I weighed him tonight he was 5.6 pounds...Soleil is 5 months old and weighs 4.8 pounds!! She seems soooooo much smaller than Reece does..which is strange as their are not that far apart in weight..and now I am curious as to what he wieghed at that age and regret not keeping track..I forget when do they stop growing...or hit their plateau? Reece has been in the 5 pound area for sooo long I cant remember him weighing less.. Thanks, Dawn |
I didn't. I started out planning to and even made a spread sheet but Slade is 9 mnths old and only has about 3 weights recorded! |
Well a fine pair we are lol...I am hoping someone did so I can see how their weight progressed the first year and when it started to slow down and plateau..just so curious!! Dawn |
I know! I had good intentions, i just got busy! I did weigh Slade every wk or two and even though he is a mix he seemed to match up with the yorkie weight chart listed here. |
I am going to when I get a yorkie.. It will be interesting to see how she grows :) |
i only weighed mine twice when i go her and at 9months lol she's 6 pouds 7 when she eats alot |
I thought this thread would get alot of attention...I guess we all start out with good intentions but then forget along the way lol...something to keep in mind though as Soleil grows incase a new yorkie comes my way!! Dawn |
Ok....I did...I have recorded in my lil one's scrapbook her measurements, weight and etc...for each month since I have had her....I got her at 2.5 months old and she is now 8 mths old....when I first got her she was 2.5 lbs and now she is about 6 lbs....I also have 8 of her baby teeth that have fallen out...clippings from her first haircut and her first toy that she chewed apart.....I know I go overboard in obsessing with my lil one, but I figure...what the heck...it only happens once.......:D |

I wrote it down in the beggining when they were still growing but now i havent in a while. London will get weighed tommorrow. I think she is 2.5 lbs but im sure im prob. wrong, im just guessing. She started out 1.2 lbs at 10 weeks old. By 5 months old she hadn't grown much and was 1 lb 4 oz. At 8 months she was i think 1.5 lbs. At 10 months i think she hit 2 lbs and now at a year i think she's 2.5 lbs. Teddy started out at 1 lb 10 oz at 10 weeks old. He grew fast, by 12 weeks he was like 2 lbs. By 5 months he was like 4 lbs and now at a year and 3 months he is 8 lbs. I got Sophie at 6 months old and she was 3 lbs. She really hasn't gained much weight, just gotten a little bit longer so im guessing she is about 3.5 lbs. She is 9 months old now btw. I'm going to check at the vet tommorrow also for her. |
i kind of did lacey at: 6 wks 1 lb 4 ozs 10 wks 1 lb 8 ozs 11 wks 1lb 9 ozs 4 mo 2lbs 4 ozs 5 mo 3 lbs 7 mo 3lbs 9 ozs now 8 mo dont know yet :( not much more i think 4 lbs just a guess |
You girls are goooooooooooood record keepers..interesting growth charts!! You two have little ones!! Dawn |
I wish I would have, but I didn't think of it. |
I did sort of with my two too... Emma: 8 weeks-2.2 lbs 10 weeks-2.6 lbs 13 weeks-3 lbs (plus some ounces) 5 months-4.5 lbs 6.5 months-5 lbs 8 months-5.5 lbs 12 months-7.2 lbs (she was porky!) 15 months-6.5 lbs (perfect!) 18 months (last week)-6.0 lbs (too skinny?) Milli: 11 weeks-3.4 lbs (she was pretty rolly-polly!) 12 weeks-3.2 lbs 15 weeks-3.1 lbs 18 weeks-3.0 lbs 5.5 months-3.5 lbs 7 months-3.9 lbs 10.5 months(yesterday)-4 lbs!!! We joke that Emma is the "value size" with 33% more yorkie to love! :D |

I know-it's strange! She was 3 lbs for what seemed like forever! We were a little concerned at first, but the vet said not to worry, and that she had probably "plumped up" and then grew taller and longer! Plus, she was free-fed with her littermates, so I'm sure she just ate and ate :) We used to call her our "chubby little cupcake" because she had the most round little lower body, it was so funny! Now she's much more proportionate. I should also add that when we first got Milli, we took her to the vet, and he said that she'd probably be 7-8 lbs because of her weight at 11 weeks...I was ok with that-I just wanted her to be about the same size as Emma. But, then when we kept going back for shots/checkups, she was STILL 3 lbs! The vet took back what he first said, and told us that she'd be little, since she was growing, and healthy but not gaining pounds-He said she's be lucky if she made it to 4 lbs! She's my "squirt", but she's perfect for Milli! |

I weighed mine every week when they were small. I weigh my 4 about once a month now. They all gained weight differently. |

I did for Cali I just have to find it but I remember she had growth spurts after 7 months of age. She was on track to be 3.5 lbs up until 5 months then she ended up at 5 at 13 months and now is 5 1/2 but needs to loose a littleI got Roxie at 4 months she weighed 2 lbs 13 ounces and not weighs 3 lbs 7 ounces at 6 months. SHe has only gained 2 ounces in the last 4 weeks. |

I have always heard that "generally" yorkies get their full size around 7-8 months - although they can pack on the pounds after that if they eat alot. I didn't check to see if that is true for those that posted their weights. Interesting ... |
Interesting, everyone! Thanks for bringing this one back! They seem to fill out around 15-18 months, especially after they are spayed/neutered. |
Yes..... I have only had Tinkerbell for a month, but I have recorded her weight every single day. Sometimes, having a postage scale in my home office is not a good thing! :D 13 weeks: 18-19oz (according to her breeder) 14 weeks: 18.8oz 15 weeks: 20.4oz 16 weeks: 22.0oz 17 weeks: 23.8oz 4months: 25.6oz (9-18-08) She will be 18 weeks tomorrow and weighed 25.0oz this morning. I kept a chart for my Maltese, as well and she followed the weight chart almost exactly. She is now 2yrs and 3.15 pounds. Wendi and Tink |
I just dug out my Maltese's weight chart since Maltese and Yorkies seem to have a similar growth pattern. 12 weeks: 28oz 2 years: 63oz She followed the chart right down the line between 3.5 and 4 pounds from the day I got her and she is only a few ounces off from the double the weight at 12 weeks rule. I have also heard that it's double the weight and add half a pound for females and a pound for males. By that rule, she is almost dead on! My Chihuahua followed the chart perfectly, too. But, I don't know how well a Chi can be compared to a Yorkie. As you can see, I am obsessed with my babies!!! Wendi and Tinker |
