Need "Wet Food" suggestions please Buddy seems to be getting tired of his kibble and home cooked chicken and veggies. I started thinking that maybe, to break up the pattern, I would add some wet food to his kibble from time to time. I have no idea what a premium one is, so I am asking you for suggestions. Thanks in advance., |
We put a little bit of Canidae wet (just about 1/2 tsp) in Bella's Canidae kibble. She loves it. :) |

dry but that didn't work out for Buddy. I'll look into that. Does it come in different flavors, beef, lamb, chicken etc.? |
Merrick and Evangers do lots of different ones and its very good stuff. |
I give Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lovers Soul in the can, every so often, as a treat. You can actually see the carrots and potatos in it. and it doesn't smell horrible too  |
In my opinion, the highest quality canned food is Evangers. Some other good ones are Canidae, Innova, Wysong, and Merricks. |
Toby loves (and so do I) Nature's Logic Wet...comes in four different flavors, Chicken, Lamb, Salmon, and something else I can't think of. It's all natural. I get it at my Pet Supplies Plus, if you have one by you. Also its at my local doggy boutique and I think you can order it from their website. |
Ask and you shall receive, here on YT:D Wow it looks like all the dry comes in wet as well. I just thought of this, this morning when he looked at me and wished something else was in his dish. He's been not too happy for about a week, I really think he needs a change. I knew I could count on you. I will pick a couple of cans of this week and see how he likes it. Thanks again, |
I've heard that Canine Caviar is good as well... |
Merrick has had quality control issues of late. Evanger is the only wet food Gracie will eat, and she scarfs it down. Loves it! |

Mine love evangers also |
Wysong makes some pretty interesting stuff - LOTS of variety and pretty much no additives whatsoever - just straight, single protein sources. |
i recently switched my dogs to merrick i love that food it has so many delicious variety but my dogs have loose stool i did mix old with the new but it just doesnt go for them...i feel so upset b/c that food had veggies in there and all yummy stuff but now i need to look for something else..:( |
Try mixing kibble in it. That helped with the loose stools. :) |
Have you tried Homestyle Select? It's an all natural, refrigerated dog food. You can buy it in the grocery stores. It's very healthy. I give it to mine when he seems bored with his food, and he loves it. You can actually see the peas and carrots in it, and it doesn't smell like dog food. http://www.homestyleselect.com/ |
Can you mix in some different veggies, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, raw turkey, or cheddar cheese to switch it up a little? Mine also like bananas, peaches, and applesauce too! |
Diddy loves Merrick wet food. I feed him Canidae kibble and only 2 oz a wet per day. This keeps his stool ok. |
I recently changed my dogs' food to Canidae about 2-3 weeks ago, and they love it! I mix in some Canidae wet food to each of their kibble, and my older dog, who is usually a VERY picky eater scarfs it all down! |
Have you tried Deli Fresh? Its really good my yorkie loves it, i just recently started buying it from Amazon! |

I cook this for my puppy now Chicken whole boiled, deboned 1lb ground beef barley rice potato carrot tips of sea salt one clove garlic 2tsp flax oil, or olive oil I boil barley and rice, then add potato, grated carrots garlic salt then when done to an oatmeal consistency I wait for chicken to finish. then take chicken out totally and safely remove all BONES. shread or hack small including some of the skins. return the porridge mix in the chicken water and let it simmer a ten minutes on very low to absorb the taste, then I add the ground beef in this simmering stage so as not to overcook the beef. Then add the chicken and mix thoroughly. I actually tasted it and it was good LOL. Let cool measure out and freez in baggies each wrapped in portion size then in a ziplock. I thaw before meal not in microwave but naturally as to retain the nutrients. |
Oh, what I also do is I steam boil with little bit of water some chicken or turkey livers, then break them up and freeze flat, then break off little little bits and mix in this rice meat mix above, not often but few times a week, like a teaspoon of it in the rice mix. You dont have to but liver seems to be a thing that dogs love |
where to get all these different brands? I feed puppy science diet to my puppies and adult small bites to the adults. i have never heard of these others, ect: canidae, delifresh, homestyle select. are these items that are purchased online or what store? my girls also get tired of the same thing , so i have resorted to treats. |

You mean science plan Puppy food? |
I give Benji and Bella Merrick and they love it. There is actual chunks of meats and veggies in it which I think is cool. |

where do you get this product? Merrick? |
it is a food made by hills co. it is not a diet. you can purchase it at petsmart and the vets here in tx. i just didnt ever see the other brands mentioned.I dont have time to cook big for the pups. i liked the liver tho. i would think that would be good for them. i can do that. i keep reading this forum and they have sooooooooo many pros and cons on all dog foods. what to do??? |
Mine will only eat Evangers chicken casserole!! If you contact Evangers, they will send you samples...they sent me an entire case of all varieties!! |
You know I have tried so many different brands of soft food and they ALL give Diesel the runs. merricks, chicken soup, canidae, innova, california natural, there are more I just can't think of them all. The only thing that doesn't give him the runs is Beechnut country chicken and vegatable stage 3. Go figure.. I mix some of the stage 3 food with Canidae and Orijen hard food. That seems to be really helping him gain some weight. I thought he was too small and wanted to see him gain at least a pound. ....:D. |
